Starting Out On Creating My Dream Game

so I've been getting a lot of comments lately that I'm copying a game called Karlson, which is just not true. While this was inspired by Karlson in some aspects, the two games are quite different. I literally mentioned in the video that the movement and wall running were taken from Titanfall 2, and the shooting mechanics were heavily inspired by Doom Eternal. I played through those games and thought they were good, so I wanted to try to combine the two. That's literally what this entire game is. It has a completely different focus than Karlson, which seems to be more about parkour while this is about combat. So please stop yelling at me that I'm copying Karlson and start yelling at me that I'm copying Titanfall and Doom. Thank you.

This game looks a lot like one of my personal favorites Get to the Orange Door, genuinely excited to see where this goes! I love games with the aesthetic you're going for, and you're incorporating very solid gameplay elements into it. I haven't seen anything about Karlson honestly, but I doubt you're making a carbon copy. God forbid you're making a game within a similar genre to another one. Genuinely though, I love games like this and seeing somebody develop another one of these is a good thing in my opinion. Keep it going man!

To people saying he copied karlson, first of all dani was not the first person to make an fps, and both games have very unique mechanics. Karlson enemies are more human like, and his game is mch more focused on parkour, considering the base mechanic is building up speed, and the style of his game is entirely separate, the enemies in this game have 2 ways to take them out/ immobilize them and aren't human like at all, and he stated the wall running was inspired by titanfall 2, and this game has actual player animations, such ass reloading, and you can see the hands of the person you play as, as well as an entirely separate look. Best of luck though, current demo is quite neat, wonder how it'll turn out in the future. I'm currently starting with quite similar idea, combining movement of Titanfall/Apex, latter gunplay with possibly more skew towards escape from tarkov gun and inventory management. It's quite interesting seeing similar ideas and goals a bit into future.

Okay people, shut up about Karlson, the games aren't even that similar. That being said, this game does look extremely similar to Get To The Orange Door (GTOD). I don't think it was intentional, but you should check it out to make sure you're not just doing what somebody else has already done. I mean, the visual style is almost identical except less complete and polished, and they're both extremely similar on the gameplay level as well, right down to the fast movement, wall-running, and shooting mechanics with slow-moving but highly-accurate enemy projectiles. Seriously I realize you probably didn't copy it since it's not extremely well-known, but you seriously need to make sure you're not just doing what has already been done.

This reminds me I need to get off my butt and start trying to make SOME kind of game. I've been interested in it for ages, and have always had it pent up in my mind that I need to do it, but I've never seriously tried for the thought of "but what if I mess up" or "but it doesn't fulfill any useful purpose". Okacha_06 that comparison is false. I’m not saying I’m on anyone’s side here, but the factors that differentiate Karlson and this game are small and plenty. However, tf2 doesn’t have abilities, like overwatch does, which results in less classes. Besides, the different weapons you can make in tf2 have different boosts and qualities, as opposed to the cosmetic only of overwatch. Again, I’m not saying this game is a copy of karlson, but using tf2 and overwatch as the comparison is not right
