I LOVE the perspective of thinking of 1,400 as a lot of people in a room rather than “this video didn’t do as well” I always have to remind myself of this for my channel as well! When you’re really passionate about something and any number of people are watching, there are real faces behind those numbers and that’s exciting to think of a large room full of people who care!

you're the one who inspired me to start creating videos and i think its admirable that you're going to continue to follow your passions regardless of view count. i think that's motivational to a lot of people in a different way. Its easy to make videos you already know will do well, takes more courage to risk all your progress for something you really love regardless of the outcome. You'll probably thank yourself for it later

I'm glad you're a sort of 'back' here. I've been working myself only recently through your video's here, coming from photography and Photoshop. The funny this is that my video activity started from my musical background. Actually the opposite of you. I wanted to film myself on keyboard and saxophone in one video, but how to sync etc. Last week was a railroad travel week for fun through a part of Europe, and I created my first serious travel video in DaVinci Resolve using all of your tips. You don't have to watch it, but I'm just thankful for all of your work that you put your video's all those years. Keep up the good things that you like to do!

Looking and sounding well Tom - your older videos have help send me down the current path with my channel, a big overhaul which I'm excited about so, thank you. Seems like you're very much in control of your destiny and in a good place, it's great to see! Subbed the music channel too

I haven't watched any of your videos in a while and happened to see this one in my feed. I had no idea you had a music channel! Definitely going to check that out now. Whatever you create, as long as you stay true to yourself and what you want to do, I'm sure it will do great.

Still here and still looking forward to whatever content you choose to make! Side note I missed your new Producing vid and had to actively go look for it.. Maybe a playlist or something to differentiate your new stuff or bringing your recent uploads closer to the top of your channel page? I by no means know what I am talking about.. But just some thoughts :)

Unpopular opinion: start a new channel. Keep your life musings and video content here and your music on a fresh channel. You’re basically telling the youtube algorithm to not push your content because you’re getting low views and lots of unsubscribers and not serving the audience you have built. If you started a fresh channel everyone who chose to subscribe would be really into it over there and it would be successful. Fewer subs certainly? but happy subs! Keeping this channel just for numbers is honestly ego. (I’d feel exactly the same way by the way - you’ve done AMAZING to build this channel and it’ll be so sad to see you go.) But if you change niche, it’s better to start fresh imo. You’re going against literally everything youtube wants to do. What will that achieve?

Honestly, your philosophical-styled lectures are what I enjoy the most. Almost like lifestyle videos with a sprinkle of music and photography would be a good place to land. Just an idea brother!

I understand what it is like when you change your content up. I did the same and I went from 20k views to 1.5k views. I learned that if you want to change it up. Just create a new channel. I have been doing videos for almost 7 years now. And I’m thinking of starting another channel, because my life is changed to.

Honestly if this channel isnt one of your main source of income, then do what you want on it. Instead of doing what the audience wants. Eventually more and more will check out the videos and you will start to gain their attention since everything you make is such good quality. Plus it shows ur true fans. And I'm speaking from being a fan since the Tomakunus days!

Your channel should be a reflection of your interests and what is going on for you. Now that you have moved more into music, I can see taking your approach to travel videos and applying that to your music. Ya, you are going to get a change in viewers. Of course, I mean it’s obvious that is going to happen. But, if you engage with 1000 people from travel videos to behind the scenes stuff, well, that’s beyond awesome. To be honest, you don’t need separate channel at all do you? Changes, transitions, new directions, those are all part of life. Ultimately, you are going to attract the right people here, especially if you give them something to enjoy. Good luck! You won’t need it.

Damn right 1000, 1400 are a lot of people.. At Experts Academy (a Brendon Burchard live event), he had a whole lesson on "numbers". People are so hard on themselves over the number of views. He had 25 people stand up... and 25 people who watch your video.. are 25 PEOPLE.. who know people, who know more people... You are changing formats, some growing pains are to be expected. The channel is called "Thomas Alex Norman".. it's your channel and what you want to create! :-)

Are we likely to see anything like your "Uganda Series" and if so which channel would that be on? I know it was a passion project of yours, and one that I found super inspirational.

Very informative. My channel is very small and It is mostly to send videos to family and friends. I do follow a lot of people like yourself thou. I often wonder why so many people follow a person Like you that have 280,000 followers and sometimes only a few viewers watch a video. I also wonder why so few people can hit like or not like. They must like the style of the person would not have many thousands of followers but so few people of the many that watch some videos do not hit like. Anyway keep on going. I will still follow. Thanks

Of course it's unrealistic to expect same views on new type of contents in your channel as your current subscribers were built and interested with older content. Just keep it going and views will grow eventually, good luck!

Hehe its funny and at the same time so stupid how youtube works...I have 8k views on video just me unboxing Fuji xpro2 with 1 subsriber at the time of posting and you got 1.5k views with 284k subs...crazy, dont get it at all lol...and all idiotic make up stuff and other crap/internet spam for shallow people nowadays gets milions of views... Ah anyway do what you love man and wish you all the best!
