Thanks for the info. I'm in zone 10 so it's always an adventure when to plant the cool weather crops which I love. Cauliflower is more forgiving where broccoli is always a crap shoot. Brussels have always been a failure which ticks me off because my son really knows how to cook them up. I actually just planted some more beans because not expecting cool weather til November.

QUESTION- this is not in regard to broccoli. I live in very hot climate and have not been having luck growing tomatoes. The heat gets over 90 several days in a row and all the blossoms fall off my plants. So I haven't gotten any new tomatoes for awhile. I have been looking at seeds for next year and have seen some heat resistant tomato seeds. So if they are heat resistant will the blossoms not fall off when the temps stay over 90degrees for several days? I have been researching it but can't really find an answer to what " heat resistant tomatoes" really means. Can you help? Thanks
@patticriss22382 жыл бұрын
I live in Oklahoma where we had 100 degree days many days in a row. I was out two days where it was 114 one day and 119 the next. It has affected my tomatoes in the past, but this year I planted them in June and I’ve had a ton of tomatoes.

@@THERUSTEDGARDEN Thanks for the reply. I live in San Bernardino, California - zone 9b, and it's been as high as 104. We have a shade cloth and have kept it watered. I'm sure it is the heat. Thank you again

Do you think I would have enough time left to throw some cucumber seeds in ground. I'm in S/W Pa. East of Pittsburgh. I think it's zone 6

Hey Gary, how close do you recommend broccoli and kohlrabi? I tried 1ft spacing in the spring for broccoli, but got leaves not broccoli heads. I did 2 kohlrabi in 1ft space, but got small bulbs.

Broccoli about 18-24. Kohlrabi 6-8 inches. My starts all failed. Has anyone found nursery or garden centers, including big box, selling fall starts?

I dont. We have a few at Freetown Farm. But we are in Columbia Maryland. Great if youre local. Not worth a long drive until next year, lol, when we are fully up and running.
