Gary, I've started my seeds indoors, cool weather crops on Feb 1st. Rosemary, beets, thyme, bib lettuce, parsley and spinach! I"m in zone 6 (Pittsburgh) . they are all doing very well. Going to start my cucumbers, Peas, Beans, sweet peppers, and Tomatoes this week indoors. Our last frost date in my area is usually around May 20th. Love watching your videos, learned so much from you.

For sure I am learning the process of to be patient. Zone 6b. I had wild flower already sprouting outside. They had like 2 weeks. Onions and leeks from 1.24.20 ( wait 10 weeks). Strawberries from peel like 2 weeks ( wait 12 weeks). My cold weather already in the cold frame waiting for transplant ( few already did ) . I am in the process of potting some roots and place them in the cold frame. Had multiple things in process, this way I am not just waiting. Is fun to think in a future and had new adventures.

@@THERUSTEDGARDEN I think you used the daylight/3200 Lm or 5000 K/4500 Lm LED shop lights you showed in an older (2018) video. I just noticed how fine the cabbages were growing at the sequence I mentionned here up. How old have you kept/grown this species under these light conditions ? I have a rack of two 6500 K - 4550 Lm - 90 CRI fluorescent tubes ; so I'll also give a try to germinate a couple of cabbages under a smaler distance under those lamps. Hey Gary! I bit the bullet and planted some thyme, oregano, and parsley outside a few weeks ago when we had the nice weather, and of course they froze and got damaged. i cut them way back, dug them up, and put them in pots in my window that gets 8 hours of direct sun. do you think they will grow back? i also started another flat just incase on like jan 20th or so.

trust me its a light issue. I grew flowers indoors under a 400w MH light and everything under it grew nice except this one flowers, they grew soo lanky, year later I grew them in my hot greenhouse and they grew super fine

I never really tried it but a few times. I didnt like it. You can miss on the timing. Heat helps jumpstart the seeds. Yep bring them in at night. I have a whole video on it I just made. I just grab the root base and split down the middle. You might loose one but they divide nicely. Later you can divide again.

I've started lots different seeds this year and when potting up the seedlings with each variety I've put some under grow lights and the excess in my window sill. As expected the ones under the grow lights have out performed the others with one exception. Cauliflower is not doing well under the lights at all but the ones less nurtured in my kitchen window sill are thriving? Is this the norm? New to veg .

Hi Gary. Do you have to harden off your plant starts on consecutive days? I live in Southeast Texas and we have a rollercoaster ride of weather, as does everyone. 70's for a few days then 40's and cold and rainy. Anyway I have a lot of plants on my first year of indoor seed starting and they are getting to big to keep indoors for too much longer.

No you can actually start at germination. Take them out when the break the surfaces and give them some sun. Each week as they grow, give them some time outside. Help please. 13 days ago I planted 144 super hot pepper seeds in 2 Jiffy 72 count greenhouses. I used distilled water and placed 1 seed in each pellet. Covered the seeds and placed the greenhouse lid and placed them both on their own germinating heating pads. Everything was placed in a small 2'6"x2'6"x2' Yield Lab grow tent. 3 days of darkness and then I turned on 2 small T5 lights 24/7 not to miss any plant from germinating. I've expected to see something pop by now. Saturday will be 2 weeks. Yesterday I turned off the heating pads because I believe the temperature of 98 was a bit much. 80 or 85 degrees I'd prefer. Bakers creek and pepper head are where the seeds came from. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks and god bless.

So I am actually producing a heat mat video now. At 98 degrees they might have had issue. Everything you did was correct but 80--85 degrees is the high end.
