Starting Van Life! | L3H3 FORD TRANSIT CAMPER CONVERSION | Episode 1

Hello Hello and welcome to my first ever campervan conversion video. Been waiting a long time to get stuck into this project and am excited to have got my hands on an L3H3 Ford Transit, begging to be turned into an off-grid home on wheels.
This first episode is all about getting the van stripped down and cleaned up, stick around for future episodes for the fun stuff!
THIS IS NOT A HOW TO GUIDE. I have very very limited experience and am just documenting my process. Please do your own research.

Nice van. Like the colour. If it were my van, I would not use pop rivets to block the holes in the floor. This is because the mix of aluminium rivets and steel floor will encourage corrosion through electrolysis if moisture and salt were to get in.

I would be being very thorough with rustproofing underneath and around that Transit. You can almost hear them rusting! Definitely a fantastic size.

I boought a L4H3 Transit earlier this year, with the idea of a campervan conversion. The only reason I haven't posted my first video is, because I haven't found a place to do the work. Bit of a lame excuse, but I'll get there eventually.

@@Wandering_Blue Yeah the head room in my previous builds has always made the conversion a bit tough *(especially the Kangoo lol) but I don't really want a HUGE touring van with toilet and shower, so the Transit might fit my needs, but I'm having a rest for a few weeks, as this last job took almost 6 Months to complete! due to set backs from painting and suppliers, so will start looking again when it stops raining 🤣

parking sensor is making that noise because one of the sensors are faulty. it thinks that you are touching the wall all the time

Think it’s seeing the bull bar at the front, might look to get it disabled but not a huge issue for now

I drive a 2016 Transit 16 seat minibus, and if you touch the gear stick while the side door is open it will cut the engine out. It's supposed to be a safety feature, but it's damn annoying.

@@Wandering_Blue Not sure, but I think it's only a feature on minibuses because they carry people in the back. One way to find out though, try putting it in gear with the engine running and side door open.
