WhiteBladeZero I agree but everything is ‘spin’ these days. There is no authenticity anymore as all of Hollywood is rehearsed and packaged to the public, This documentary is a window into the problem with the Prequels. You had a generation of adults in 1999 (who grew up with the Original Trilogy) now working for and in awe of George Lucas. So nobody was going to push back that Jar Jar was WAY over the top. Except Ben Burtt, as he was the only one who sort of challenged George.

It has great depth into the making of the movie, from the very beginning to the release, has no voice-over, no rushed interviews, and it takes its time to show us how it was made, unlike most "making of" which are no more than rushed made-for-TV featurettes.

baldy hardnut it's a bad film for many reasons besides jar jar, but I can tell from your comment that you are not very bright, so enumerating the reasons would be pointless

The hype was absolutely immense. There was nothing like it at that time, and there has never been since.

Regardless of what you think of the finished film, this is one of the best behind the scenes docs ever made. Brutally honest and surprisingly frank.

It surprised me how ewan got his lightsaber, he just chose the one he wanted

And the one he chose was the best! That black base made it look analog - like some kind of old, out-dated technology.

Yeah, none of this "we designed each lightsaber based on the character's personality, where this style of hilt represents wisdom and the ball at the end represents the desire for balance" Also, that was the first toy lightsaber I ever had as a kid, so I'm kinda biased

I’ll always remember that awkward moment when it ended at the midnight screening I went to 1999 when everyone kind of looked at each other and there was a collective feelings of ‘oh man, it just wasn’t that good right?’. But for real, the hype was too much, but it didn’t stop me seeing it four more times, and to be honest, for all its faults as a film, it feels a hell of a lot more fun, giant in scope and creative than the sequel trilogy. And, for the record, every actual kid in every session I saw had the time of their lives. Side note; it’s remarkable how many practical effects were in this film. So many great miniatures.

There's something admirable about the fact they put this out. It's captivating in how awkward it is, and how on edge everyone seems to be.

+Dallas Van Winkle Got his head on straight? Didn't he get arrested like 6 months ago after leading the police on a car chase? It's cool if he is going to film school now though, I don't blame him either, I have never seen a movie where I thought a child actor did amazing TBH. Lucas never should have cast so young in the first place.

Yeah I agree, wee didn't need to see baby Vader or baby Fett for that matter.

+Dallas Van Winkle It's one of the reasons I really enjoy that was not a single kid in Force Awakens, much less a main Character. Abrams/Disney knows what the fans want and how to tell a great story at the same time. I feel these new movies will in the end tell a great ending (maybe) to the Saga, but will do so in a fun fast pace that keeps people entertained throughout, something that certainly can't be said for the prequels. I can say for certain I am more pumped for Star Wars then I ever have been in my life right now, and that is a good thing.
