I prefere the Orange sabre, which are essentially designated to those who are to aggressive or close to the dark side but do not give in. It´s not like Purple in which you combined the light and the dark, this ones are those who are dangerously close to the Dark Side. Often this Jedi were far more aggressive and rely more on lightsaber technic than the use of the force.

Ezra’s first saber was extremely useful at the time, he could use it as a blaster against stormtroopers without showing he was a Jedi, especially an inexperienced one like he was in the first two seasons of Rebels, but if he needed to use it as a lightsaber as well, that worked. It was both stealthy and deadly in a time where Jedi were constantly hunted. Ngl I always get sad seeing it get destroyed in the season 2 finale. But at this point losing your first lightsaber is a sign you’re growing as a Jedi, Anakin, Obi Wan, and Luke went through this

You were talking about a double pike. The normal pike is basically a light saber proof staff with a small blade at the end. Small as in more yoda size beam.

Gonna be honest, the darksaber or a lightsaber pike seem the most useful to use. The lightsaber spear from the old republic cinematics looks insanely cool and probably useful as a defensive weapon too

Fun fact: The term shoto is a Japanese term that translates to "short sword". However the word shoto is usually used within the context of kendo, referring to a shorter shinai (bamboo sword), which is used in tandem with a larger but not fully sized shinai called the daito, or "big sword" in a style called nito ryu. I practice this kind of kendo, so it's really fun to hear these terms used in the franchise I love so much! Looking forward to part 3!

I know Luke used a sholto in addition to his normal length saber as a way to counteract Lumiya's lightwhip in Legends. I remember reading that in the book series leading up to Jacen Solo's fall to the Dark Side.

I’ve always wanted something like this: Dual bladed saber, but one side is normal length. The other side is shorter, like a shoto blade. That way I can wield a normal saber and surprise opponents with a hidden knife at the other end.

you missed the broad saber. typically used by bigger people whose hands and bodies are too big for an average lightsaber. basically the exact same thing as a normal straight saber but the blade and hilt are scaled up.

The Darksaber is unequivocally the best. Sure, Sidious had a nice-looking hilt, and Bane's hilt was really lightweight, but we've been led to believe that there is far more to the Darksaber than has already been revealed. Further, any blade with the Ghostfire Crystal is also the best. A nearly-silent, invisible saber blade that's just as deadly as any other saber, making it very difficult to defend against, and perfect for killing a foe who isn't aware of your presence.

Yeah, but only if you're a practitioner of Form II: Makashi. Otherwise, it doesn't really help. The curved-hilt lightsaber was specifically designed to facilitate Form II. So if you're not great with Form II, or you just prefer a different style, then the curved hilt isn't going to help, if anything, it'll throw you off.

I could be wrong but from I have seen, the lightsaber pikes that the temple guards use are a little different than a regular double bladed saber. Both have long hilts, but the temple guard's lightsaber pikes seem to have longer hilts and it looks like they have shorter shoto sized blades, while the double bladed saber has a shorter hilt but longer blades. The pikes also have lightsaber resistant hilts so they would not be cut so easily.

Has there ever been something along the lines of saber claws? Like sort of gauntlets that bring out multiple sabers at once to evoke a form of primal claw-like appearance? Like having a Jedi who was running from the empire living in some remote jungle-like planet surviving off his own basic needs. Going years without human interaction and decided to instead train on that planet by going into tune with not just the force, but nature as well. Taking on aspects of the creatures/animals he hunts and utilizing their tactics against prey/predators. I think that would be incredibly cool. Having a Jedi who isn’t taking the conventional path and instead taking on a more primitive and beast-like aspect that would make him horrifying to fight against, especially when most don’t delve into the nature of the creatures than inhabit the various planets making him wildly unpredictable. Edit: I looked it up and there is, but there isn’t. Only one type and it was from a comic. Only happens to be a lightsaber gauntlet with two small sabers sticking out of the gauntlet. It’s not curved or anything so it’s straight which is extremely poor for combative advantages and doesn’t give that primal feeling.

Thanks for a great upload. Lightsaber design is something I have seldom paid attention to in the films but there are some very prominent ones which you have covered. One you didn't mention was the one in the Mortis trilogy used to kill the Son, although this seems very similar to the Mandalorian dark saber.

For aesthetic and a pure masterpiece Sidious’ in my opinion is the most clean. However something about the blaster one from Ezra is just awesome you would have your own lightsaber style by having a blaster completely taking your opponent off guard. As well as having range without throwing your saber.
