+Star Wars Theory Excellent video. To my knowledge, Obi Wan is the only force wielder (Jedi or Sith) to stalemate Windu in a lightsaber duel. If I’m not mistaken, we learn about that in the ROTS novelization. It’s after that sparring match that Windu declares Kenobi “the greatest Soresu master the Jedi Order has ever seen.” Because Soresu is literally all defense, it’s far too passive a form for Juyo to prove effective against. Hence why Windu couldn’t beat Kenobi, although, to be fair, Kenobi couldn’t beat him either. They just kept stalemating - no winner between them. I don’t know of anyone else to hold pace with Windu, though.

Frank Halloran aaah... Juyo (7 th lightsaber combat style) was more than effective against even 3 rd l. c. Form if you think about it. Yoda told kenobi not to fight emperor as he could not defeat him. Mace could ve beat kenobi, it would ve been just not so easy fight, because like said, juyo and vapad are different. At the end, vapad is useless againts lightside user and is extremely risky.

He had grammar, it is a grammatically correct sentence and I understood it on first sight. But if you want analysis here it comes: Type of sentence: Question Pre-determining statement: What if The action taker in sentence: Mace Windu The action taken: Trained Who was trained?: Obi-Wan We get the sentence: "What if Mace Windu[instead of Qui-Gon] trained Obi-Wan[instead of Qui-Gon]." Technically the sentence is correct on both ends read both ways, so we have to assume that people know the roles and by that decide who gets in the sentence replaced.(I thought after seeing sentence that Mace Windu got replaced) Example: Your mother cooked the food instead of your father. Would she have cooked your father? Your mother cooked eggs instead of steak. Would your steak have cooked the eggs? You know these only by context. Here is another troubling sentence: The cannibal cooked his mother instead of his father. Grammatically both ends are fine so stfu. If you need to use more than 1 brain cell to think about what it means, it doesn't neccessarily mean it is wrong, that's what I am trying to say. The guy was not wrong, you just needed to use more than 1 brain cell to think about who is who, which is normal in most sentences like this one, especially if the roles involve names. That's why reading books can help this ability develop. As you read the book you can get to know who is whose whom. If someone doesn't watch star wars shouldn't be under this video anyway. Grammar helps us understand eachother, but it is annoying to be used in specified areas. Grammar comes in handy when you try to explain to someone outside of your profession what you do. But to those inside it is just annoying and this video specifies around those who know about the star wars universe, so we automatically assume they know who is who.

To get into specifics, Maul was 15, with no experience and a hyper-aggressive attitude to go with his lightsaber form. With the Dathomirian Zabrak's Dark Side fully on display, and the Korunn's unique Shatterpoint ability, Mace gets a firm foothold on the fight before his opponent even initiates. Maul tries his intimidation tactic at the beginning of the fight, as he does against Qui-Gon, but all that does is reveal the last card he had to an overwhelmingly powerful enemy. He jumps into the attack, preferring close-hand combat to the Force Abilities that he doesn't realize are his only hope, and Mace wrecks face. As you do.

Anakin was using the dark side constantly, it's just who he was. A jedi never fully commited to the light. So fight with Mace would simply draw out Anakin's inner darkness and empower Windu.

I think Mace and Maul would be pretty balanced throughout the majority of the fight, although Maul may have an edge because he's younger and well-trained in the Dark Side, while Mace is also younger but hasn't yet gained vital experience fighting the Clone Wars. However, Mace could still come out on top since he was at least capable enough to be a master by the time of TPM, plus he could tap into both Light and Dark Sides, so that could conceivably give him an edge. I'd love to see a fan fiction video about the encounter

Lockjaw in the book Luke states Abaloth is roughly 12 times as powerful as he is in the force. Abaloth is a force abomination and so is Anakin so I agree he could beat her. It would be a hellish fight tho.

My logic is based on the idea that only Force Abominations can kill other Force Abominations. The best examples being The Jedi Exile, Nihilus, and Sion. They were all abominations in the force and wiped out thousands of individuals getting more powerful as they went. That's how most force abominations work. Now Anakin was basically the same with his ultimate force potential. But I can't see any not of the Skywalker Lineage being able to take on a Force Abominations without being one themselves or the bare minimum being The Grandmaster of Whatever Era they are in.

Who needs Vaapad when you have the high ground! Also, only Mace was able to use Vaapad without falling to the dark side, which made this fight style is totally unpractical to all other Jedi! Mace fought Dooku in the official comic Star Wars Obsession(story set 5 month before EP3), Windu didn't win. Sora Bulq(before falling) also used Vaapad but Dooku outmanoeuvred him as well. As for Maul. TCW Maul pushed Sidious to his back foot in a pure lightsaber duel(after Savage died) but Sidious ragdolled him with the force. So it could be argued that Maul was the superior Juyo user... Remember, Maul fought Windu and Aayla simultaneously in the official comic Son of Dathomir as well and Mace again didn't win. I guess Vaapad can be 'nerfed' against a more calm, precise and calculating Sith Lord like Dooku or Maul. Sidious was just a raging psychopath who kept boosting his dark side energy.

Mace Windu created a style that grew stronger and fed off the dark side energies of the opponents it fought. Effectively, however strong the Sith was, the stronger the style became, so with Mace's inner darkness + palpatine's dark side aura and power he was using, it made Mace's style twice as strong as the Emperor's which is why he was able to defeat him so handily. Vaapad is essentially a perfect counter to any Sith, whom will eventually defeat themselves the more dark side energy they try to use against you. The only way to defeat Vaapad if you're a Sith is.. not using Dark Side energy in your fight. But Mace was already powerful enough that if they didn't draw upon something, unless they were just as strong in the light side, he would defeat them. Vaapad is the perfect style to undo any Sith you face, the stronger they are, the more they hurt themselves. Too bad Mace never taught it to anyone else. Or did he....

My favorite lightsaber forms I practice are: Ataru, Makashi, and Djem so. For example, for the intensity of my lightsaber workout, I start out easy with Djem so strikes, building up bicep muscles, etc. at the end of it, I ended the workout with Ataru flourishes and kicks, finishing it in style. Anyway, awesome video as always.

Mace Windu should have been on Battlefront 2, his main ability should be "Channelling" which charges darkness from himself and the enemy, the more he fights a sith, the more it charges, then he presses the ability and for 5 seconds he is super fast and deals a great deal of damage for each swing. The blade should be brighter as well to symbolize redirection.

@@pablogaminggod Good point, that would be unfair. The mechanics of Windu should work around his environment. Since he is able to redirect the dark side of the force, his speed and damage would depend on how many enemies he has around him and what abilities are they using. For example, if Windu is surrounded by Dooku and Palpatine and Dooku is using "expose weakness" on him while Palpatine uses "Dark Aura"... Windu should be able to redirect all the dark energy focused around him and potentially overpower both siths. On the other hand if Dooku and Palpatine do not use dark side abilities/buffs *then* they should be able to overpower Windu easily. With these mechanics applied (or similar), Windu players might be encouraged to play as a team and definitely bring a different gameplay.

Young Obi-Wan was brash and arrogant, just like Anakin. Vaapad requires a mentality that allows darkness to channel without being consumed.

Obi Wan was so powerful because he mastered Soresu to the point where he became THE master of it. Obi Wan did actually start out leaning the more aggressive form Ataru, and mastered it as well. However the form didn’t suit him as well as Soresu. As a matter of fact, anytime Obi Wan was forced to use his aggression, he didn’t fair too well in a duel. So I believe that with Vaapad he would probably still have been a very formidable jedi, it just wouldn’t have suited him as well as Soresu does.

I personally believe that a duel between Windu and Maul would almost be evenly matched.... While Mace would call upon not only Maul's anger/dark side energy; Maul would call upon his own anger as well to fuel himself. Then again; Maul is literally consumed by his anger and is literally a fountain of dark side energy; while Windu has master over how much he falls into it's embrace. So; MO Windu would win.... but only if it were in a closed space with no windows.... we know Windows are Windu's kryptonite! Love you vids SWT; keep up the amazing work! :)

@@carl1217 If he wasn't weakened by force scream, I think he would have lasted much longer actually,yes his style is at disadvantage to that of Sidious but not completely useless. If anything Fisto would be able to adapt, improvise and adjust his style as accordingly, he was very experienced but was caught off guard with Sith sorcery. Saying his form was completely useless for dueling is sort of like saying a sharp bread knife would be completely useless to use in combat at all, it's still possible to make do. Possibility of lasting much longer was there fighting coop with Windu, don't forget Windu chose these guys because he likely fought well with them and could play off each other's strengths. But odds were still against all of them having never dealt with Sith and their tricks before.
