We end the episode with Din kicking his feet up at his new cabin, and Grogu lifting a frog with the force, like he did when training with Luke Skywalker.
Ok, look, this episode felt more like a they lived happily ever after than a major cliff hanger or a larger threat entering to galaxy. I would have liked if Thrawn’s fleet showed up to kill Gideon perhaps, or show up outside Mandalore. I think they’re keeping Thrawn for the Ahsoka show, as we don’t know where he is at this point. This season of the mandlalorian had no direction like the first 2 seasons. It focused a lot on Bo Katan, which I liked, but I feel like we didn’t get as much Mando as we thought we would, like previous seasons. I hope the next season will return us to Mando and Grogu going on adventures with hopefully a much bigger threat like Thrawn or someone else, Snoke perhaps.
I’m still processing the season, but overall, it just wasn’t nearly as good as the others. Pacing was wild, some episodes moved super fast, while others dragged on, while some just wasted important episode time, like the lizzo episode.
I think the destruction of the dark saber could set this up for Grogu to make his own, considering they save the crystal. Maybe we could learn how they made the dark saber.
Grogu definitely connected with the Mythosaur, I think this is foreshadowing for him to ride the beast and lead Mandalore in the future. Maybe decades from now.
I don't know where Din and Grogu go from here...it kind of seems like they're back to season 1 with his Bouny Hunter days, which were the best parts of the series. Maybe we could have some interesting adventures into the depths of the Galaxy, discovering more force sensitives, bounty hunters or night sisters with magic. Maybe Snoke? Thrawn?

What did you honestly think about this finale and the Mandalorian Season 3 as a whole? What would you have done if you were writing this season? The ending just feels like a conclusion, which is nice for the characters, but comparing this to season 2's finale, not nearly as exciting, and that goes for the entire season. What are your thoughts? Thank you for joining the watch parties and for hanging out with me and the community for the last 8 weeks. I had a blast!

I cried when Skinny Pete told Bo Katan “Yo, this is the way and shit.” before sacrificing himself. Another great scene was when he showed the mandalorians the underground gardens and said “This is church yo.” But by far the best scene was when Gus said “Last chance to look at me Grogu.” before getting engulfed by the flames, truly one of the moments in Star Wars. Bravo Vince.

They should have included an after-credits scene with the Shadow Council discussing Gideon's failure and Thrawn's hologram appearing and saying "it is time to move into the next stage" or something ominious. @@eugeniawong249 Well a ship is probably faster and the pilot/passengers are protected inside. With the jetpack Axe is much lighter and was able to overcome the planet’s escape velocity, plus it’s much less weight than a ship so less propulsion force is needed. The cruiser looked to be in low orbit so he didn’t have to leave the planet completely which also helped. What’s a bit unrealistic is I’m not sure if his body should be able to withstand all that, he’s not got an Iron Man suit but still got Beskar armor.

@@tonydoinstuff Sure, some people find it fun to be overly critical. I think fear is a _somewhat_ valid excuse for what happened there. I don't know if it's enough, though. What about Grogu messing with stormtroopers when kept alone with them (and Moff Gideon?) in that cell near the end of season two? Was it outerspace or just upper atmosphere? Using earth as a comparison. 40,000 feet or so would put you above a lot of thunderstorms like the storms shown in the storm. SR 71 flew close to 80k ft btw. Convert that to miles, about 7 and a half miles. The raptor thing definitely could've flown the youngling farther away than 7 or 8 miles. Say flying horizontally takes less fuel... but still, the raptors could fly hundreds of miles away theoretically. It's a whole freaking planet we are talking about. Nothing unreasonable here. Think of the jet packs as good for short range dogfights, but not long range bombing runs.

Gideon wasn't from a special species, no. And neither did he know the first thing about the force, but I think that he felt so superior all by himself that he assumed or believed that he "earned" it to have clones and the force. Edit: To make it clear - Moff Gideon felt so superior out of egotistical reasons. He came up with the plan and almost made it happen, so he thought very highly of himself.

Yep! I mean, he said as much in episode 7 when he said that the best thing about his new beskar dark armor was that HE was in it....from that line alone it was obvious the clones he was making were going to be him + the force.

I agree. He just wanted so badly to be force sensitive that he did whatever he had to. If one scientist couldn't do it, he'd just move on to the next until it worked. He was not logical, just power hungry and self-absorbed. The storyline is consistent with his motivation.

@@cyberlouis but the weird thing is that we know that Dr Pershing didn't complete his research before he got arrested. So how was Gideon able to make the clones? Pershing in that one holo message in S2 said he needed more blood because his attempts failed. Also Gideon was able to make the clones force sensitive even without having Grogu so why did he want to aquire him so desperately in previous seasons
@cyberlouis
@cyberlouis Жыл бұрын
@@adamH.1 There is a lot of strangeness surrounding the whole thing like, how did Gideon know they were force sensitive if they were still in their tubes? I think at the end of Season 2, Gideon did tell Din Djarin that he already had what he needed from Grogu so he was going to let DD take Grogu (that was before Gideon tried to kill DD). I do think during the time Grogu was prisoner on Gideon's ship more blood was extracted. On a side note, I am hearing some theories about Grogu's blood being used to help clone Palpatine. I doubt that. Palpatine would have probably saved some of his own blood for this purpose (he knew he was getting old and the dark side was making him look a little rough--at some point he would need a new body).

I was really scared that Axe Woves was the spy. The fact that everyone evacuated to support Bo and was headed to the base, it felt like a move Thrawn would make. The mandalorians not second guessing an order and leaving their most powerful ship in the hands of one man. Axe could have radioed Gideon and Gideon would have everyone right where he wants them. Sort of a fish in a barrel scenario with the tie bombers and the Arquitens turbo lazers shooting at the base, while the tie defenders deal with any ships trying to escape. For example, (first person POV from grogu entire time) din and grogu are walking through the town and all of a sudden an imperial star destroyer comes out of hyperspace in low orbit, the chimera (thrawns ship), turbo lasers open fire decimating the city and everything around them, din and grogu are knocked unconscious and everything blacks out, grogu wakes up to dust settling and din’s arm hanging out of rubble from a building, grogu tries to use the force to lift the rubble but all of a sudden storm troopers try to take grogu and he goes into a dark side rage but passes out and is captured after wiping out several troopers, blacks out again. The only thing it was missing was Bo and Din sharing final words. The last thing Bo says to Din was the whole, "Go save your kid" line after she smashed into Gideon. After that it was mostly eye contact or general statements. (Basically no words directly to Din) I agree with your review of the season, there was many times I was sad by how short the episodes were, and on top of that they did waste a lot of time with seemingly meaningless side quests. Lizzo... I don't mind side quests but the reason these were bad imo was the short run times. It was like we didn't have much time to enjoy The Mandalorian and instead of getting answers to our questions, we'd have to watch Lizzo play croquette or something. All of that being said, I literally enjoyed every minute of seeing Din and Bo Katan on screen together. I'm not a shipper but the chemistry between the two was undeniable. (The only downside is the age difference. Din was a kid during the Clone Wars and Bo-Katan was already kicking ass. IDGAF tho, Bo-Katan is an honorable and beautiful woman.)

I really liked that Gideon was merely trying to clone himself. Tying the Mandalorian into the sequels would have truly ruined it for me. Instead, we got some glimpses into Gideon's character. As Theory mentioned, even with the Force, his clones wouldn't have been that powerful without the proper training and experience. Moreover, my very first thought was that they wouldn't obey him, and would likely kill him and then possibly kill one another. All of this just adds to Gideon's misguided view of the Force and of himself, likely believing himself to be greater than he is, and capable of doing things that he can't do.

It was a fun finale. The heartfelt moments between Din and Grogu are kind of the centerpiece for me. The season was rough in some parts and definitely could have been better, but I'm happy enough with the ending that I will give Ahsoka and Mando S4 a shot. As for some of the contentious things: The dark saber needed to go. Grogu will likely forge one of his own in later seasons and this one existing would make us wonder why he didn't take that one even though it would be over sized for him. The clones going so quick was silly, but they needed to resolve why Gideon wanted Grogu so bad in the first place and force clones would have been to OP to leave in the universe.

The moment he said his plan was force sensitive clones I thought it was a really bad idea. I immediately thought they would rebel and kill Gideon at some point and go rogue.

I agree, previous two seasons had more direction and focus on the main character, but that is because we did not yet know him. We needed to see his growth, some of his past and attach to him. I think season 3 was more global picture orientated, that is why we did not see much from Din in focus. Honestly said, I don't think there will be a season 4, since like you said, they'd placed the story in a nice calm ending. (for now)
