Whereas Obi Wan and the high ground worked out in his favor, both times, despite being on opposite ends of it. Anakin discarded the rules when it was convenient for him (pursuing Padme, killing the sand people, killing Dooku, killing younglings) and suddenly went back to the "Jedi code" (anger at not being made a master despite being on the council, Mace/Palpatine situation) when it wasn't.

Sith do not train more than one apprentice at a time. When one falls, either the master or the apprentice, the remaining one takes on an apprentice. The inquisitors you refer to are not Sith, at least not to the level of Darth Vader or The Emperor, because they do not receive advanced training in the ways of the Sith like apprentices do. The inquisitors are basically just force-sensitive beings who rely more on their natural abilities than any real skill or training with the Dark Side of the force. I do believe you need to go back and study the Sith and you'll see I'm right. In the movies, we never see more than two Sith at a time. In Episode 1, it was Palpatine and Maul. In Episode 2 it was Palpatine and Tyrannus/Dooku. In Episode 3 it was Palpatine and Dooku until Anakin killed Dooku. Then Palpatine swayed Anakin to the Dark Side and it was Vader and Palpatine for the rest of the series. (Disney doesn't count).

Killing the children was a huge mistake on Lucas' part. That made the pace of his descent completely unbelievable. In one frame he had his doubts about taking out the man who they've been chasing during the ENTIRE clone war, who's tried to kill him NUMEROUS times, and who literally took his arm. He felt super guilty for helping to kill Windu. But now he's joyfully killing innocent children. He should have just taken them all prisoner. I would have believed that.

I don't think it was only a selfish decision to become a sith. If you watch the clone wars, the animated series, you see Anakin as a war hero. Doing anything necessary to move closer and closer to end the war. "Who amongst you will strike me down and be labeled a cold blooded killer!" Anakin was battle-worn, he was tired. All he wanted was to see the end to fighting he relished combat but he wanted peace and order. But the price was too much as he later learned. And to maintain that order he had to continue killing, that's where a lot of his inner hatred stemmed from. Him realizing the lengths at which he had to take to deal in absolutes.

Yeah Anakin knew he'd need to do something really really tragic and evil to be able to go properly to the Dark side. I also think Kylo should probably be dying from the wound but in hitting it he causes himself agony and therefore gets angrier and therefore draws in more Dark force energy to keep himself alive; just how his Grandfather managed to survive being burnt by lava and badly wounded by Obi-Wan (and just how Palpatine talks of cheating death via the force).

Yes and the faculty counselor also having problems with mental students who cut themselves...apparently causing personal harm and pain somehow allows a person to be free from mental suffering. Human mind is weird since we are able to go into extreme ends and suddenly it becomes the opposite....pain becomes ecstasy, hate becomes love, etc.... Before anyone say that this could be a good therapy or cure....yes it helps the person themselves to be free from pain & suffering....such actions could also inflict pain to others.... In your case inanimate objects like the wall, property destruction, while others hurt their family, friends, pets....or murder random people just to feel alive again.... So be careful that we do not stray far into the darkness. That is how in real life people become lost going down the path of the "dark side". It is when we commit such actions which is selfish, purely for our own satisfaction and release. But don't worry...I don't condemn people dealing with their rage in physical form...in fact we should utilize the best in everything. I use the strength from rage/anger more productively. I pick up my scythe and do some weeding at the orchard. It's really fun murdering plant life...better choice that way. Or if I'm bored of killing plants....I could pick up a shovel and dig a shallow grave...I mean a compost pit...

I really enjoyed your analysis of Anakin and his justification or reasoning for killing the younglings. If you haven't already, I would recommend you read the Legacy of the Force series of books in the Legends collection in which several authors describe Jacen Solo's final curruption and acceptance of the dark side. Without spoiling it, the series gives further support to your reasoning as Jacen commits a similar act to mark a point of no return and cement his commitment to the dark side. The main point is that in order to become a true Sith, dark side users must commit an act in which there is no turning back and displays their allegiance to the dark side of the force. Although there have only been two examples of this in the movies (Ben Solo kills his father, Anakin kills the younglings) there are multiple examples of this throughout the expanded universe the most detailed being Jacen Solo's.

5:20. Deep question. Sometimes there’s emotional pain, and you pinch yourself or punch something just to have physical pain subside emotional pain for a little. Some folks find themselves balling their hands into fists, especially when something is happening they can do nothing about, and the marks their fingernails leave being pressed into their flesh can leave scars. This physical pain can dull emotional pain temporarily. When I was a kid I struggled with asthma. Asthmatics usually carry rescue inhalers that contain steroids, that act as fast-acting airway clearers and anti-inflammatories, delivered in a dose, for use during an asthma attack, or when you anticipate you might have one, like just before phys ed or an exam. When I was a kid, I noticed that the angrier I was, the better I fared during asthma attacks. (I was teased a lot for my asthma and shortness of breath, so when I got angry, it actually helped temporarily). Later I realized that the reason anger seemed to help was because it caused an adrenaline rush (that helps clear your airways and for a fight or flight response). In a sense, you really can believe therefore anger gives you power because it literally happens. But it is only temporary and can lead to bad habits forming, and bad coping mechanisms that continue even when you grow up. A vid I saw that analyzed Anakin’s characterization though the animated series The Clone Wars and during Revenge of the Sith, said that Anakin slowly began to favour the quick and easier way, learning that his anger gave him power. This made him more vulnerable to be seduced by the Dark Side and to be manipulated by Palpy. I wished Qui-Gon survived to train Anakin, but we would not have had the story we have now. To me, Obi-Wan was too straight-laced and dogmatic to be sensitive to Anakin’s particular needs, and have a certain understanding in order guide him. And I think even if he knew about Anakin’s marriage to Padme it may help some, but would still be too little too late, as he may have judged Anakin for breaking the Jedi Code. I love Obi-Wan, but I wished there was more he could do. That’s why when he said “I failed you, Anakin” it broke my heart. In the comics it even said he felt insufficient at times to guide Anakin, or didn’t know how to deal with things emotionally. The fact that younglings are ripped from their parents and their communities and their culture as mere children and indoctrinated into the Jedi Order, and I don’t know how their emotional intelligence is developed, it doesn’t surprise me when they’re emotionally incapable of handling things even as adults, it doesn’t surprise me when they get too attached, or when they become so vulnerable to the Dark Side, as it seems in one fell swoop, but they, to me, were always so wide open. I loved that the original trilogy called the Jedi [Way] a religion. In many ways, it is. In many ways it can be beneficial, it is. And in many ways it can be dangerous, it is.

Hey Theory. How are you? Apologies that making this comment here, I may have missed a video where you may have added on or revised points made here, or someone commented this to you already. I do recognize the validity of a lot of your points, as well as the in-universe and character motivated reasons Anakin did what he did. I don’t intend to argue them. So, a somewhat narrative breaking points critics have made is it’s believable enough for Anakin to do what he had done to save Palpatine so he could learn how to save his wife. I think that’s why, in the moment, he went for Windu’s hand and not something more fatal. Believing Palpatine was helpless in that moment, and his efforts was to prevent his death and incapacitate the Jedi Master. Then Palps did what he did to make Anakin an accomplice to murder. His only course of redemption, at that point, was to slay the only person he knew at the time could save his wife. So, that’s not happening. It is going from that, to Sith Lord, to killing younglings to be the big logical leap. And yes, I recognize what the previous films had done to establish what Anakin’s morals are and what happens when he’s pushed to the emotional brink. Here is my answer to this issue: Palpatine had the clones go with Vader to the Temple, not just to assist his new apprentice in this task, but to make sure he followed through. Yes, Sidious has gotten his apprentice and the Sith’s goal to rule the galaxy has finally begun. It hasn’t come full circle yet. The Dark Lord has shown his face, but at this point, I wouldn’t put it past him that he would be cautious about his conflicted apprentice. Now, imagine you’re Anakin, there’s 100 thousand or so clone troops, programmed at birth to follow orders. They’ve just been given the protocol to kill the Jedi for treason. Their leader has dubbed you as some sort of “Ex-Jedi, pro-republic loyalist” fair enough? What do you think will go through their minds when they see this Ex-Jedi hesitating to carry out the orders given by their supreme leader? Do you think it constitutes as having second thoughts? Is he thinking of betraying the Chancellor now? No. I don’t think so. They probably would have looked at each other breifly before gunning him down. I’m calling what Anakin did as yes, a selfish act of self-preservation. But, in his mind, if he dies, he won’t be there to protect/ save his wife. So in that situation and those circumstances that is why Anakin had made the leap there. It is not stated or directly implied, but there’s enough pieces to make a case for it. Not claiming that what’s provided in this video isn’t correct or relevant. Only to help clear the air for the average casual viewer of this film and seeing this scene. There's also an explanation in the novelization of Revenge of the Sith that Anakin was actually going to show mercy to the Younglings and show them a way to escape, but when one of them referred to him as "Master Skywalker" he was reminded of how the Jedi Council denied him the title of Master, he then became enraged and killed them all. Not sure if that counts anymore, just something I remember

I always thought I was a "big fan" of Star Wars, until I learned how much lore is actually out there. Then I just considered myself a casual fan. After seeing these videos about Plagueis, Palpatine and Anakin, the "first" 3 movies make so much more sense now. The wau Palpatine groomed Anakin...it was almost identical to the way Plagueis groomed Palpatine! This video series actually helps to make the first 3 movies blend together and helps make me better understand them :) I love that I've stumbled across this channel :) keep up the great work!
