The character of Baylan was mostly great and Ray really enjoyed playing the role as evidenced by his acting. The problem is that we did not really get a sense for the "power" he was seeking. Also his dismissal of his apprentice was not really explained other than him telling Shin to find her place in the uprising of Thrawn. Add to that Baylan didn't have a single line in the finale. These things are Filoni's fault for not giving Ray to do other than speak in generalities and look awsome in his outfit. Also now after some time to reflect on this show, I'm really disappointed in the show on whole. Lars Mickelson may have been a good voice person for Thrawn in the animated show but he does not have the screen presence for a live Thrawn. I also didn't not like that a once Jedi who survived Order 66 (BTW, how many Jedi survived? We were led to believe that Obi Wan and Yoda were the only ones...otherwise why did these two pin all their hope on Luke and Leia when the likes of Ahsoka and Baylan Skoll were around?) turns Grey which now gives him a reason to murder people. Also hated that both Baylan and Shin had orange lightsaber blades. Lazy writing. The show also fumbled Sabine arc with her using the Force.....Ezra was boring and him and Sabine's reunion was blah. I did like the flashbacks with Hayden those scenes were done well but his appearance at the end as an actual Force ghost was bad....I mean why isn't he in contact with Luke.....at all and where the hell is Luke in all this? Yeah Yeah I know....don't ask. I really thought Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau were going to pull SW out of its funk but there is too much Kathleen Kennedy going on. Even Mando Season 3 was a hot mess. Don't even get me started on Book Of Boba and Obi Wan series. None of the characters are the stars of their own shows anymore! Now there's going to be a other female character driven show coming out next year....The Acolyte....and after listening to the lead in that show open her mouth at Celebration along with the fact that one of Harvey Weinstein's former assistants is going to be showrunner means more Woke BS....well after woke Hollywood is crashing and burning. George Lucas must be having a hard time going to sleep at night knowing what Disney has foisted upon the viewing public after running the most popular movie franchise ever into the ground.

I had a similar thought. Maybe a feeling of disappointment in not having that bond more than a feeling of letting her down. "Old enough to know that a relationship between a Master and Apprentice is challenging as it is meaningful." and boy if that wasn't Kanan and Ezra's relationship to a t. I think some part of Sabine WAS jealous of Kanan and Ezra's relationship when she looks at her own failed relationship with Ahsoka...But you're right in the sense that she herself let Ahsoka down, not the other way around. Kinda like how Rey said, Kylo turning Dark was him failing Luke...Not Luke failing him. Because the vision everyone harps about...Luke was never going to go through with that. Ben assumed. And lashed out. He didn't trust Luke, which is understandable from HIS point of view. It makes you wonder then, if Ahsoka failed Anakin by walking away...that's something she very much thought about for a long time.

@yoursonisold8743 that's what I was thinking as well. My personal interpretation of Thrawn is that he thoroughly assess every situation and creates countless contingency plans so that he doesn't have to rely on irrational and desperate moves. The only time we truly see him experience a defeat is when his commanders choose to act on their own ambitions in the last minute and divert from Thrawn's original plan. That, and when the absolute random and completely unforeseeable thing happens when pod of mythical space whales from folk tales appear out of nowhere and pull the mother of all deus ex machinas

I love seeing Anakin but it’s stupid. Anakin should go and visit his son if he can roam around any galaxy freely whenever he wants 🤦🏽‍♂️ He should be spending time with Luke and Leia and probably should’ve visited them. Why would he be spending all this time watching over Ahsoka but not his children… he must have secretly loved Ahsoka all this time for her to be a priority over his kids. They use Anakin just to make us feel nostalgic with empty scenes including him that leave more questions than answers. Him hanging around doesn’t make sense.

I thought it was consensus that Maul was holding back because he ultimately just wanted to teach Ahsoka a "lesson" and get her on his side. Ahsoka was losing for most of the fight and only won at the end when Maul became overconfident and she pulled off a difficult maneuver (how Maul usually loses). This is as opposed to Morgan 2.0 going all-out to murder Ahsoka.

@@fungusz_4292In Star Wars: the clone wars, the Mortis episode shows Ashoka’s death. She is then brought back to life later in the episode when the daughter gives ahsoka her own life essence, which kills the daughter in the process, but the essence of the daughter remains in ahsoka from that episode on. From this it can be easily argued that ahsoka would be the best new daughter for Mortis.

A part of me wonders if Baylan had more screen time initially but after what happened, they may have cut it and left his story more open-ended. I don't think they cut much of him, the.season storyline was centered around Ashoka / Sabine relationship and her accepting overcoming the fear of turning into another Vader. Nightsister magick is VERY powerful. Remember how Dooku almost died in the clone wars simply because Mother Talzin used a lock of his hair with magick to kill him? Yeah that same magick is used to increase Elsbeth's power to new heights; the same way it did to Savage Opress. Even when we see Ahsoka and Morgan's first fight in Mando S2 E5 she managed to disarm one of Ahsoka's sabers. Yet with her new power she easily sliced Ahsoka's shoto saber.

Ray Stevenson's performance as Baylan was truly fantastic. The world of Star Wars is a little dimmer with his passing. Now and odd theory/question to pose to everyone. The statues of the father, son and daughter confirming the prior presence of the mortis gods on Peridea and the lore that states that they imprisoned and then abandoned Abeloth after she drank from the fountain of power and bathed in the pool of knowledge. Morgan also confirmed that the night sisters originally come from Peridea. We all know that the theories about Abeloth have been thrown out there by the fans ever since Baylan mentioned something calling him. So the theory/question is, is the reason the night sisters magick is so different from the jedi or sith's use of the force possibly because their magick is derived from Abeloth who is possibly imprisoned on Peridea the planet of their birth? For what better example of chaos which Abeloth is supposed to embody than raising the dead. And does this mean that it's possible the fountain of power and pool of knowledge is on Peridea as well and that's what's calling Baylan?

Thrawn is a lifetime military officer who had few if any peers in the Empire. Agree he's not evil....he believes in his cause.

I don’t usually comment on KZbin, however, I wanted to make an exception. This is what Star Wars is about. The adventure, the dark with Thrawn seeming victorious, the light at the end with Anakin appearing to Ahsoka. Just brilliant. In terms of what star wars is about, yes this was good. But the way it was shown, the slow pace, wasted time on awkward slow dialogue, was all still not great. We need next season to be seriously better in terms of how it shows us what is at its core a great story

Maybe, but not very well put together. Some of the duels and lightsabre action looked poor. And the story and dialogue not much better. Far too much blind worship of Filoni. I'm not convinced that this is the story Star Wars needs to propel it back to box office success. For fans of the cartoon shows, I can see the appeal. The most interesting aspect was regarding Baylan and Shin... that would be worth a show on it's own. Sadly Ray passed away- he was phenomenal in this and has left tough shoes for any other actor to fill.

Even with his new cosmic role, he wants to be there for his “snips” during this difficult time. Shit is so beautiful Amazing finale to what’s been the best Star Wars project in a very long time. The time and effort that Dave Filoni and everyone involved put into this deserves all the praise. There’s still so much more to tell with this story though. I hate that we didn’t get more of Baylan’s “power” that was calling out to him. Since he didn’t die in the finale I’m guessing that means he’ll be recast? It hurts so much because Ray was an absolutely amazing actor and a great guy, but the character just has too much potential to let go right now. I think we all expected there to be some kind of catch with all the “I can’t wait to go home” lines that Ezra was dropping, but I didn’t think he’d be the one going home and they’d stay on the planet. How are they gonna get back to the main galaxy? This is going to be so interesting. If they’re out of the picture, surely Luke, Leia and Han gotta be involved in the coming projects. My Man, so glad to watch this video, finally a creator who properly appraciates this series fornwhat it is an not overly nitpick an state how basics they'd have done it better. With your couple of critiques the Ahsoka, Elsbeth fight & Sabines force competenve. think there are a few things to consider, 1. The 1st fight between them (Mando) was fairly even for a bit, but Ahsoka won out, like yoi said this is Elsbeth 2.0 & also with the Talsin sword. 2. There was a shit load of zombiebtroopers around as well so feel Ahsoka still had to keep an eye in them just in case (think elsbeth had control of them at this point, and in her arrogance/revenge wanted to kill Ahsoka herself hence keeping them sidelined), 3. We already know Ahsoka does have a tendency to get distracted and at the time Ezra & Sabine where trying to get on the ship an stop Thrawn so perhaps she her focus was slightly split/lost due to her attachment to them (an we all know what Yoda said about attachments). 5. Yeah defo could be a vizla descendant, but also, for example in sports there are plenty of people who appear to lack potential, but sometimes they are the ones who become professional athletes, also feel being on Perridia an inside that Henge could have played a part too. But like I said thoroughly enjoyed this breakdown. This series very much gave me Empire vibes, with Ahsoka's Mando appearances being New Hope, so s2 & the movie should be ROTJ. My only real issue is when did Thrawn clear the space mine field lol

To be fair, both force push and force pull focus on moving an object or person. They may not be exactly the same but they are similar, at least she can't use force heal and force lightning without training like Rey could.

Honestly pushing is probably easier than pulling. And she did train, so it's hard to believe she was never taught or attempted a push. Now, admittedly they were reaching with that far ass force push but you also reaching with the Rey comparison because her feat literally makes zero sense. We got no reason to believe Rey even knew wtf force lightning was, much less mastered it to the point of being able to detonate a starship. And inheriting ACTUAL force abilities and not just latent talent is an even dumber explanation

My feelings are genuinely mixed about the finale. Left much to be desired in proper execution and satisfactory payoff. The most captivating part was Baylan standing on the outstretched hand of the Father, while signalling towards the beacon of the light in the distance. The first time I watched it, I was a bit underwhelmed. However I think it was because we all thought there was going to be some big fan service or reveals. Instead Filoni did what was best for expanding the story and showing the character progression. Watching it the second and third time I just enjoyed it for what it was, and it was an awesome episode. I really think now, Dave Filoni should be in charge of the storyline from this point forward. He has shown with this series that he can use his discretion to make the right decisions for the overall story. I was not actually upset that Sabine could use the force. You have to remember that she did train for a long period with Ahsoka. It also gives greater significance to Ahsoka forgiving Sabine and showing her own character progression. I think Sabine’s struggles to use the force were related to a mental block from the trauma of losing her family and fearing falling to the dark side. They also subtly showed through sound that her force powers are considerably weaker that Ezra’s. When she does a force pull and push it’s not as loud or forceful. She still needs a lot of training to get stronger and perfect her powers. But we have to remember Obi-wan was considered pretty mediocre in terms of midiclorian count but through sheer determination and endless training became a master of soresu and the force. I think in the next season it will show that Sabine still has a long way to go with her training. But in general I was extremely happy with this series. I just really hope they don’t link it to the sequels. I mean they used Ashley Ecksteins voice in Rise of Skywalker. Hopefully that is the timeline where Ahsoka died in the duel with Vader and this is a new timeline. You could actually still have the Sequel characters but tell a better story. Perhaps following the Thrawn trilogy then the Dark Empire timeline. Where you could bring Palpatine back but perhaps Ben is not turned and maybe Rey becomes the Dark Acolyte. You don’t have to get rid of the actors or characters just please Disney write a better story.

This episode was very underwhelming for a finale. It feels like we should’ve gotten this episode 2 weeks ago or even last week. 1.) Sabine conveniently gets force powers 2.)Thrawn should’ve just ordered his ship to blast the entrance to the temple to prevent Ahsoka from getting in. (Thrawn is much smarter in the books) 3.) Sabine solos like 20 troopers on the roof of the temple??? 4.) Choreography felt like they were just going through motions. It looked like muscle memory instead of having purpose and intensity. Overall I’d give the show 5-5.5/10 It had some cool episodes but overall, there’s just so much plot armor, shortcuts, dragged out useless scenes, and I just wish it was better since we’re not gonna be getting another season for awhile. Maybe once all the seasons release, I’ll be more fond of the show as a whole, in contrast to how I feel about a single season.

Due to Sabine feeling emotions towards Ezra she decided to go with the enemy, which ofcourse caused in Thrawns return. Thrawn will likely start another war in the future which may end up leading towards the rise of the first order. Now imagine if Ahsoka somewhere in the future goes to the world between worlds to change the past, training Sabine as a Mandalorian instead. This could mean that Sabine doesn't go with the enemy, perhaps even stop them meaning Thrawn won't reach this galaxy. It was absolutely mid, along with the whole show. This show unfortunately didn’t even come close to saving Star Wars. The show isn’t polished, the writing, dialogue, directing & acting was mediocre. Yea it felt more like Star Wars than all the other shows but there’s so many unnecessary flaws in the show that we’re completely avoidable. Most of the characters were emotionless and talk to each other with empty one liners… so many dumb decisions and things that just wouldn’t happen logically. Thrawn is as smart as a Gungan and came up with the most simple plans and decisions that weren’t even the best thing he could’ve done in the situation. Dave Filoni can’t write a super intelligent character like Thrawn. They should’ve had Timothy Zahn write all scenes including Thrawn. There was very little hype for this episode and there’s hardly any discussion. Most of the fan base is gone and nobody can blame them for leaving. It’s the best Disney show we’ve gotten but that’s not saying much. It’s a 9/10 for Disney Star Wars and a 4-5/10 for Star Wars as a whole. Some good moments but absolutely mediocre at best. I hate to say it but have to be real. The Ahsoka show was the last hope to revive Star Wars… but didn’t even come close. Us fans have gotten to the point where we accept meaningless nostalgia bate like Clone Wars flashbacks that doesn't do anything for the story and is just there to cheaply pull on our heart strings. Star Wars used to be so much more than this. It used to be certain of what it is, and had an amazing, well thought out story. Now we accept mediocrity just because it's better than the trash we got before. The fact that Star Wars isn't even trending right now is absurd and shows where we're at. It went from an A-list franchise to C or even D-list. I can't defend mediocrity for the company that destroyed SW in the first place.

The symbolism of Ray Stevenson standing in the hand of the father... There's no way Dave did that accidentally! That's where he is right now, standing in the hand of the father. The first time I didn't notice it, but then in the second time... Rest in peace Mr. Stevenson. The first time I watched this last episode I was like: "Bro, what in the blue hell are they doing with Sabine being force sensitive like that?", I felt that they made it too "from off to on". But when I watched this exact same episode days later, that moment with Sabine and Ezra AND the music, just gave me goosebumps. For some weird reason I didn't get that in the first time. I finally understand what Dave wanted to do. I still wouldn't make Sabine force sensitive, at least not in that level or at least not too soon(I know she's been training for some time, I'm talking about screen time in live action; I felt like she needed more time so that her powers could come slowly, starting very non-impressive), but I can't deny that the moment had a positive impact on me the second time I watched it. Now seeing Theory saying she could be related to Tarre Vizsla gives me a whole new look at it, because a great story could be made from that. It's good to see Theory's breakdowns also because while I'm watching I start remembering some things I thought at the moment I was watching the show, but since more stuff was coming I ended up forgetting. For example: The hands of Disney in some things of this last episode was obvious to me: When Ahsoka fatally hits Elsbeth with the lightsaber, she fell but immediately put her arm to cover the wound😂. There are less obvious ways to hide that, I think. We also see Disney hands very obviously when we notice how our heroes with so many sabers still didn't slice a single one of the storm troopers😂, that was really strange. But this one he already mentioned in the video. Why is Disney so scared of that if all the other Star Wars movies are there in the same platform? Meaning they have sabers cutting arms off. Man, Dark Maul was cut in half 😂. I mean, what's the point of not allowing them to do the same or similar in Ahsoka? Elsbeth "transforming"/gaining more power was awesome to see. It gives an even more japanese vibe, except this time from anime, with this idea of having a physical transformation that will also make you stronger. Seeing Ezra not only getting a lightsaber back, but actually creating his own with a piece that belonged to his master Kanan and seeing him so interested when Huyang was talking about him was beautiful too. And did anybody notice how episode 8 was kinda retconing stuff from episode 7?😂 Or was it just me? I wouldn't doubt there were more unwanted hands on this show than we think. For example, in 7, Ezra was like: "I ONLY need the force", heavily implying all his years living there without any sabers, helped him to turn himself into a "Kung-fu in the force" kind of guy(Kung-fu is one of my passions but I'd like to see a brand-new character like that, not Ezra, if that was ever going happen, even though I'm not that strongly opposed to Ezra doing it). But then, in episode 8, Ezra is building a brand new lightsaber for himself as if he didn't say one episode ago, "I don't need it, I ONLY need the force" 😂. Of course there might be a million good arguments to support why he now decided to walk with one again, but to me no matter what argument you use, that still feels a lot like a retcon; one that I'm very glad happened. Sometimes an explanation to a scene can be very logical within a story, but STILL feel bad and sometimes even worse than that. Unless they tried that "subvert the expectations" thing that I never saw working well, most of the times turns out cheap. It's like those shows that end an episode with a completely crazy shift as a cliffhanger, only to undo everything in the next episode, making everything totally purposeless(of course with the purpose to make you watch the next episode). Why don't I think it's the case with Ezra? Because with what Ahsoka teaches Sabine in episode 8 about a Jedi being more than having a lightsaber and Ezra building a new lightsaber for himself in that whole Kanan scene, AFTER Ezra says in episode 7, "I only need the force", it wraps it up in a positive way. Ezra's words in 7 landed way better because of episode 8. But it still felt like significant creative disagreements happened from 7 to 8. Or maybe they just decided to not go that way. That's my perception to it at least. To me this last episode wasn't the best. It should have been the best, but it was still better than any of the "sequel trilogy" movies. The show as a whole, to me, was awesome and it made the vision for the future of Star Wars very interesting again. I wish I could see Luke, Leia, Han, Lando, Chewie, etc. with Ahsoka, the rebels, Baylan, Shin, Thrawn, etc. In a fantastic new trilogy.
