The fact that the Suicide Squad game just has each of the characters zipping around and shooting guns is so immensely disappointing. Like, how do you not give each of them their own unique fighting style? Kingshark should have been the slow, heavy-hitting tank. Captain Boomering a mix of mid and close-range fighting. Harley could be similar to Captain Boomerang, but much more fast and mobile. With Deadshot rounding things off with a focus on mid to long-range fighting, with limited close range options. This game should have been an absolute slam dunk for Rocksteady, and I can't believe they apparently screwed it up this badly.

Similar thoughts with me, these characters have good movement but their variety sucks. Harley would be cool with explosives that have different effects like stunning, poison, or just damage, deadshot could be the weapon specialist with assault rifles, snipers and such, king shark is all about being aggressive, and captain boomerang can be all about getting cool ricochets and other boomerang effects

The one small bit of credit I'll give them is that this Captain Boomerang is the son of the original, and his mother is a speedster, which is why he has access to the Speed Force. That being said, it's clearly not properly taken advantage of from a gameplay perspective save for what appears to be one specific move.

I really liked Alex's idea that the Suicide Squad game should have been Batman teaming up with the Suicide Squad because he's unable to do everything by himself. Would have made the game a lot more interesting and we could have had some fun interactions with Batman working with some of the villains he's fought.

Disagree on the colour palette as Metropolis looks perfect with it's Art Deco style with bright deep yellows, reds, greens, blues, creams and beiges. I think that's my main pull right now is the setting itself and map design.

@@thegrayghost2148 The color's are actually something I'm loving, fits with the aesthetic of Metropolis so I don't know what people expected an Art Deco city of tomorrow to look like in terms of color palette. Did people want Metropolis to look like Man of Steel where Metropolis looked like any other city with no personality because that would be an awful setting for a game. We see parts of Arkham Asylum so those look more in line with the dark and gritty Arkham series we know and love so they'll changing up the colors for each setting.

I know someone already pointed this out, but it’s really sad how you can’t REALLY use the villains abilities…..like the WHOLE POINT of suicide squad is for them to USE THIER POWERS OR ABILITIES. Harley Quinn agile, excellent hand to hand, flexible, tricky. Deadshot excellent hand to hand, weapon variety, master marksmen, king shark huge tank with insane health, lots of stamina, but slow. King Shark was using a bazooka, but he also was slamming on the ground and is strong enough to fight Tank monsters which you can clearly see. The trailer also referenced the fact that he's the son of a God, that explains how he's able to float around. Boomerang has infused the speed force into his boomerangs, that's what he's throwing and that's how he teleports. Take off your pre-hater shades, and maybe you'll see what's actually there. I know it's the popular thing to start hating without context or detail, even before a video game comes out but try to fight that KZbin urge if you can 👑

@@DArtmanreignz i am aware he is the son of the Shark God, never had the ability to fly though. I can't understand what you wrote at the top but Harley is not part of the Bat family, never has. Originally she was a shrink that fell in love with the Joker, now the character had been changed so much it's not even funny, but she hasn't super strength or stamina, she is a very fit woman with years of experience fighting on the street, but that's it. How she can fly in the air using a grappling hook is anyone's guess(a feat like that requires super strength or at least peak human levels of strength). Boomerang i can kind of get, although you mainly see him using guns in the trailer, which he is able to use according to his background, but at that point use any other character in the rogue gallery, seems like a waste. Maybe he uses boomerangs more in the actual game, i don't know, we will see. Anyway, the main issue for me is that it all looks "fortnitey", violet everywhere, shooting while jumping from place to place..plus the fact it's a live service which never worked ..very skeptical

they could have easily made each character unique in combat and give plenty of reason to swap between characters or make it matter more when choosing for co-op. Harley for upclose quick attacks with her hammer and some gadgets...king shark as a heavy hitter melee character that has slow but powerful attacks... Deadshot for long range gun attacks and captain boomerang for mid range with boomerangs for distant attacks and quick melee attacks with his speed force( that the original captain boomerang apparently does have according to several wiki sites)

I really cant believe Rocksteady has gone down this path. Its not only a step, but a giant leap from the tried and true tested formula that everyone fell in love with the Arkham series for. I would understand if it this an evolution from the original gameplay but its completely unrecognisable. So disappointed. Sadly though I'm not surprised as every game developer is chasing the "Live service, Battlepass" formula which is an obvious ploy to extract the most funds from players. I just thought Rocksteady was above that. Clearly not. It being Kevin Conroy's last performance as Batman too leaves a really sour taste in my mouth that it had to be game like this.

It's weird to judge a game for what it isn't rather than what it is, and what it is looks fine. High speed third person shooter with a focus on character abilities and aerial manoeuvrability? Sure, why not. If you want Arkham combat... I dunno, play the Arkham games? Or Spiderman? or the dozen other games doing that combat style? Wow I thought the top comment was boiling down the gameplay to make a joke but all the characters literally float around and shoot. Why did they decide to do that. You have a guy on the team who’s whole thing in shooting. He should be the only one with a gun and should have a different arsenal (long range, medium range, heavy ordinance and short range depending on your perks), boomerang can still have his speed but let him have different types of boomerangs like shock to stun strong enemies so dead shot can snipe them easier, explosive boomerangs, etc. Harley Quinn zipping around with a minigun is stupid make her melee based with her ICONIC hammer as crowd control. She can still swing around and use momentum from the swing for extra damage so the movement style plays into her attacks. King shark can also be melee only But a tank melee, let him be able to tear boulders out of the ground to throw, when enemy tanks get beat up enough let him rip off the cannon and use it. Let him eat enemies to regain health. Or even throw weak enemies at other enemies. This is all it takes for a better variety in gameplay and how people who are getting paid to make the decisions for this game couldn’t even do what I just pulled out of my A** while on the toilet boggles my freaking mind. I’m not buying this trash

I also feel like, thinking about the concept more critically, did this even really have to be the Suicide Squad? I feel like it would have been a lot more fun gameplay-wise and a lot more emotional storytelling wise if this was a Young Justice game (Or Teen Titans or something like that). But I get it, it's hard to sell loadouts and different guns to powered individuals, but really, it'd be so much more interesting if you were playing as Superboy and Nightwing over Harley Quinn and Deadshot.

Shoulda kept King Shark with Melee attacks with using slow firing but heavy hitting heavy weapons, Harley being a mix of melee + smgs, Deadshot with the long range weapons along with his close range gun gauntlets 'cause he can always stay safe with his jetpack, dunno what with Boomerang 'cause I never seen him have the speed force in the comics or animation.

I played Arkham Knight just last year, and while it has its issues (mostly because its a 40 hour game when it needed to be 25 at most), I think it largely serves as a solid enough finale to the Arkham games. I bring this up because I was almost as late to that game as they are to these trends. Arkham City is one of my favorite games of that generation, its a near perfection of that type of open world game. So it would be tragic if all these years were wasted on live service trash. And unfortunately, the odds are against this game being all that good.

That's a good point: it's an Arkham game with suicide squad characters, but it doesn't play like an Arkham game and the Suicide squad characters have totally different powers. Looks like one of those Fortnite games that's all hyper and neon colors.

Do agree with Joe visually the game looks great with Metropolis having this amazing Art Deco meets 1950s retro futurism look and feel. It's by far the best rendtion of Metropolis we've seen in any DC media outside of the Animated Series so i have to give them credit for that. It looks Arkham Knight levels of map quality in layout, designs, and attention to detail so i'm assuming that talent from the past games are still working on this game's world. It's just the other aspects of the game that are a little mixed for me. I want to explore this world more so than Gotham from Gotham Knight which was very lacking in layout and design overall pretty boring city layout with the same block buildings and copy and paste stores. This map looks more much complex and fun to explore both on foot and by vehicle. Terms of gameplay I do prefer the behind the scenes footage that was shown in the open world. To me it just looked more fun than the footage we saw from that mission. It gave me massive Sunset Overdrive vibes mixed with Crackdown so if the gameplay is this level of fun then i'll have a blast along with this open world. Hope to see the vehicle gameplay which gives me Dead Rising 3 vibes with these over the top killing machines running down waves of enemies. Just seems like a VERY different game to what people expected.

This takes away the feel of the Arkham series and hype that Rocksteady Studios strength, and plus it looks like a typical 3rd person shooter that has you aiming for the glowy bits. I had faith in this series, but once I heard that some of it’s senior team members started leaving I had a case of Deja Vu. The CG Scenes look good, but I agree with AJ that the combat looks ok ish. Also including a season pass to a game that should be a single player, but it’s trying to go Marvel Avengers instead of Ultimate Alliance.

So why is the Flash acting like the Joker? Like I get that he's under Brainiac's mind control but brainiac is cold and logical. Like his human-robot converts don't act like zombies, they act like robot soldiers that follow all orders down to the T and complete objectives with ruthless efficiency. Like Brainiac would just have the Flash kill the Suicide Squad and move along no questions asked. Also, the Suicide Squad has a LARGE rooster of characters with powers and abilities. It was a choice to pick characters that all use guns and make them feel exactly the same. This is definitely a game to avoid.
