They can legally text in California. I'm sure they take a "HOW TO SAFELY TEXT WHILE DRIVING" class.... Right? Lol. My buddy is a CHP and he texts and drives like a ninja. I personally can talk on my phone 100% safely but when I start texting my ability to pay 100% attention to the other cars on the road is greatly hindered and I consider myself an excellent driver. There's just that extra time your eyes and brain take to adjust to what's going on in front of you and I have to be honest, EVERY single accident I've been at fault for since I was 16 was from me being distracted from the cars in front of me for just a split second and boom I ran into the back of a car. Now that I think about it every accident I've been in with the exception of not seeing a red light and going into an intersection and getting T-Boned I have read ended cars from me being distracted. One time I was talking to a beautiful girl I just started dating. One time I was playing with my stereo I just had installed. One time I see looking down because my phone fell off the seat. One time I was looking in my mirror to see if the tie down straps looked tight on the few things we could salvage that had sentimental value to his family that I was moving for my buddy from his property after the Camp Fire in California that went through his house. Every single time was distracted driving. One night on a narrow country road with zero shoulder I was texting and the second I sat my phone down there was a guy on the road with absolutely no lights or anything reflective. My front bumper was in line to blow him I the ditch. I cranked my steering wheel to the left so fast and hard that my huge Dodge dually slid sideways and I thought the back of the truck was going to slide right into him and hit him. I have no idea how but I missed him. Would it kind of been his fault? Yeah but still I would have had to deal with it and always felt like I maybe would have seen him sooner if I didn't have my phone in my hand. I'll never get why those die hard road bike guys ride on the road all the time and some have no lights or reflective clothing or anything on their bikes that is reflective.. Yeah yeah I know the first thing I used to take off my bicycle when it was new was the sissy reflectors lol. But if I was on the road for the hundreds of hours those guys are I would surely look like a Damn Christians tree going down the road. One night I was at work and I honesty thought I was looking at a UFO coming down the highway and as it got closer I could see it was 3 road bikes with the brightest most awesome lights on the front of their bikes I had ever seen. It was right when good quality LED lights were getting more and more popular and I had not experienced seeing them yet so it was really something that tripped me out but a GREAT idea for those guys to make it home on dark nights. I know a dentist that rides road bikes and he has been hit with a mirror on a truck and the driver never even stopped. He was knocked into the ditch and hurt pretty badly. He could have very easily been knocked into the ditch and been hurt badly enough that he could not drag himself out to get help and died right there 10 feet from the road. It sure seems like there's got to be a safer hobby out there. And you have to be a crybaby Karen in order to ride road bikes. It's the same endorsement on your divers license here in California to ride a road bike (bicycle) that you have to get in order to ride a crotch rocket motorcycle on the street. You still have to get your class M1 for the motorcycle but the KT endorsement is over and above that. They test you to see if you have the ability to scream and yell at any car that you personally think was too close to you. Or any car that fails to see you and accidentally changes lanes into you. You have to be able to cleanly kick a mirror of a car that you deem wasn't kissing your butt 100%. If you have a KZbin channel and you post videos of you riding and yelling at more that 50% of the motor vehicles around you for every little thing you think they did wrong or if you point out every law they broke while diving especially if it has to do with the safety of you and your motorcycle. You have to be able to jump off your bike at a red light get your kick stand down run to the offending vehicle and verbally berate the driver and if they argue you have to be able to punch them in the head and get back to your bike before the light turns green. All pretty much self explanatory normal first nature to the regular rookie motorcycle rider for the KT endorsement.

Florida Sheriff deputies do it all the time. They are texting or they're playing on their computers while driving down the road weaving all over the place. It's okay for them to do it but they will give you a ticket if they catch you doing it. Had a female Sheriff Deputy ( couple weeks ago) just about run up the back side of my truck because she was into her computer and not watching where she was driving in rush hour traffic. She ended up past my truck on the left side of the highway in the median and suddenly had to put on her flashing lights like she was doing something important to make it look like she wasn't an idiot. How much would you bet that if she would have ran into the back of my truck it would have been my fault? I personally would put a million dollars on that. My question is when are the cops going to do this to themselves? Oh wait that means never.

Great, as a former big rig driver of 13 years I can attest to what "4-wheelers" do/cause, BUT.... I did not hear ONE mention of slow a** people who impede the passing lanes getting pulled over and given a ticket. If they would target the PROBLEM of wrong lane users, impeding multiple lanes, then there would much less so-called "aggressive" drivers who are simply actually DRIVING their vehicle as opposed to those others who should never be on the EXPRESSWAY to begin with.
