I have looked for this for forty years! I first saw it as a lad, alone n our stately Victorian home...it paralyzed me with fear when I viewed it downstairs that night...I had to climb the long shadowed stairs to my room!

I saw this first when I was a child and have wanted to see it again for years. I never realized that Margaret Rutherford was in it! Love her in Miss Marple!

I remember this show! Loved it. This was decades before "true" ghosts on TV became so popular. I loved Margaret Rutherford's quirky Miss Marple even though it was far and away removed from anything Agatha Christie wrote. I learned to love the Christie books through reading and the series with Joan Hickson.

What is truly sad is that I (vaguely, I hasten to add) remember the NBC peacock that introduces this program...Old, old woman that I am! :):):)

Back in fourth grade, our teacher read a book that mentioned to us NBC producing this show. So every kid in the class wrote a letter to NBC asking them to put the show on TV- preferably at a time we can watch it. Nothing ever happened.

When she was once asked to play Madame Acrati in a Blithe Spirit she originally refused to play because she tought it poked fun at mediums, so she played the role in her own way to try and make it as true to like as possible.

The choice of Margaret Rutherford as hostess of the program was not dictated by psychic ability or her integrity as an investigator, but simply because she looked the part, and in television that is the most important consideration.

Epic! @MrDoremouse probably our interesting folklore, ingrained superstitions and id like to say, somewhat more focused abilities to sense the supernatural.

Unless one see’s such a thing , one cannot believe , I myself have been to hundreds of ‘haunted’ locations and I have never seen such a phenomenon, I wish there was a life beyond our own but the evidence points to a biological state of life - we’re born, we live , we die , its a pity but that is the way it is ….

There is a lot of speculation that most supposed hauntings are that of a recording of some type in the atmosphere or stone, such as the stone tape theory. That would of been the case of the famous Harry Martindale who when he was a young lad saw a legion of Roman soldiers walk out from a wall in the basement at Treasurer's House many years ago. He always maintain the same story for decades and explained that the romans were not see through but they was solid like you and I. That’s worth looking up. It’s from my understanding that if you go looking for ghosts, you won’t find anything because ghosts as we think of them don’t exist, but merely sometimes we can pick up something or experience an event which happened long ago in history, while under certain circumstances without realising, this would also explain people who have experienced “time slips” you’re not going to experience ghostly phenomena by sitting in a supposed haunted property all through the night, the only thing that will happen is your mind will play tricks on you. It would seem people who experience these kind of events did so without knowing what was going to happen or didn’t know about any ghosts to begin with. Also, and this has nothing to do with ghosts, and there as been a lot of research into this subject but you might want to look up NDE’s, this is from people with powerful testimony from people that were declared dead or flatlined for a small amount of time or under anaesthesia that claim they witnessed something beautiful, there’s always the light which most people talk about, a beautiful light which they describe as god, most of these people who experience this are often told they most go back to fulfil what they had to come here for. It’s a fascinating subject and you really need to look into this.
