your doing it right for bluefish with the diamond jig when you see a bluefish blitz cast a mirror or diamond jig and reel fast and for flounder i use a 3/4 ounce to 1 ounce jig head with 5 inch white mullet gulp 4inch works to and i always fish on shore they hang out in the waves so reel slow for flounder

Also note, I don't know about the spices you are targeting, but bait runners are live liners are great for putting life bait on and setting the drag letting your pole set and having the live fish swim freely, If you are, jigging you tend to want a pole that is a little more geared to that application, spoons, bucktails, jig heads with soft baits all has diff methods of applications. Also shimano baitrunner is a great reel I have one also land bull reds on them no problem 30lbs pulse.

I was targeting bluefish and I only had 1 pole at the time, recently started my fishing journey, I've got a lot more poles and reels since then and lil more experience too, thank you for your comment 👍

Never saw anyone Jiggin with a baitrunner? Expensive reel with features that are unneeded for the application.
