I started seeing vultures on Staten Island almost 2 years ago. They gather on chimneys to stay warm in the winter. Last winter there were a lot more, like 3 to 4 times more than the previous year. I'm way more scared of the turkeys attacking me than the vultures. The vultures eat roadkill.

I deal with bald eagles and hawks in my backyard in WI. Vultures kill nothing. These people are overreacting, I don’t even believe the eye witness about seeing them tearing off roof tiles. So sad when people act like they are some big problem when they just don’t like them.

I helped a friend dispatch a whole bunch of them at his farm, after he obtained a permit from his state wildlife. They were killing his livestock by pecking them to death in a very gruesome way. Black vultures are scavengers, but they will also killl to eat, unlike the turkey vultures who are strictly scavengers.

I have seen these birds share a meal with cats… For years in no way would they ever… I mean I’m surprised you didn’t emphasize that it’s ridiculous to think they would go after live pray they’re very cool birds except they shit all over everything and it’s heartbreaking to think they’re so hungry they’re eating roof tiles….
