Funny thing, I am semi-interested in makeup, I wear only mascara and matte lipstick- eyeshadow maybe like 2x a year and I wouldn't be caught dead with bronzer, eyeliner and such extravagances, but I just found your channel and I love watching your videos. You have such a calm, soothing way and I appreciate how well you articulate your thoughts. the eyeshadow might look better if you put a lighter color, like a champagne, on the inner third of the lid. that would add some contrast and dimension, which is currently missing and what might be making it look not quite right with your natural coloring/contrast levels.

I think the cool lean of Phytosurgence eyeshadows is why I love them. They do harden, maybe, but they pick up no problem for me. The blushes do the same, so I don’t have an issue. They last well on me! And I need to get that eyebrow pencil, I need a cool brown!

I have become interested in makeup later in life. ‘23 was my year of figuring out what I like and now, at the end of the year, I have to do a STRICT declutter. Like you, I’m getting rid of anything that isn’t a #1 in each category. As for you, those blushes are a no. But I like that eyeshadow on you!

That's so interesting about the Armani Luminous silk and the color match. It's also my favorite and one of the main reasons is because it gives my cool toned skin the best shade match out there.

Have you considered doing the Patrick Ta method w those cream blushes? Like put a powder blush down first and the cream on top. I get not having to do a lot to make a product work but maybe try for those products you cannot get yourself to part with🤷‍♀️

The Phytosurgence blushes are my favorite blushes in the entire world and it sucks that they disappear on you! I have that experience with a lot of liquid blushes. It’s wild like my dry skin just absorbs them 🤣 love this video! I’m trying to be super selective about the products I have in my collection so I love to hear your reasoning.

I sadly agree with you on the Lisa Eldridge lip glosses! I find when I reapply them they get kind of chunky, yuck. Her lipsticks are amazing but this gloss is just not. The Victoria Beckham ones are the gold standard for me!

The way I use makeup by mario is use it as a base before a powder blush or as a topper after applying powder blush. It is absolutely beautiful!!!

I’m an oily skin gal and the photosurgence doesn’t work on me either which is a total L because their condensate shade is SO special!! I’ve also had it curdle too which just isn’t a pleasant experience 🥺. I think that brand overall isn’t oily slick girlie friendly 😭. I’m hoping in the future they come out with some new textures because I love the brand and their ethos.

Phytosurgebce blushes and eyeshadow formulas are not my favorite in the world, but I love them specifically for the colors they offer. The really unique selection of murky cool tones really flatters my medium-deep olive skin. The blushes don't last well on me either but it might as well be because of the extremely hot and humid climate I live in. I think a lot of people love Phytosurgence for their colors and are willing to compromise longevity for that.

I agree with you 1000 percent on the Phytosuegence eye shadow going hard and the Makeup Forever lip liners I didn't like either. I had two the Wherever Walnut shade and something caffeine can't remember exactly what it was called. I purchased both last year and both went to my mom, roughhhhhh. I don't get the hype! I kept hearing myself saying "yes!!!" All throughout your video in agreement. Kait, just get rid of them don't second guess yourself you're a smart lady who knows what you like. I could see you becoming more of a minimalist makeup channel and I'm so here for it. I love to see the same stuff over and over again because it means you truly love it, are smart af for saving money too! 😊

I feel like 95 percent of what comes out it loaded with fragrance and my skin is so clear now that I got rid of anything with fragrance as I'm highly sensitive I don't even wear foundation no need!

@@StateofKait also did you notice a weird film on the bottom of some of your phytosugence shadows? I will not be buying anymore from them. I wrote them and they did refund one shadow but the way they speak to customers I won't be returning. I bought a bunch of stuff in July and all of my shadows are hard! And weird white film on the bottom and in some of the actual shadows.

Maybe I am in the minority here but I think the VB shadow stick looks gorgeous on you. I think the undertones of the foundation, blushes and lipgloss clash too much and don’t make the eye look justice. I would try it again with products you love before deciding on declutter. Love your content ❤

I initially didn’t like the eyeshadow but after you applied mascara; I did. But if you aren’t going to use it; get rid of it. I hope Jon feels better soon. It sucks to be sick at Christmas time. Happy Holidays to you & Jon!

I remember being so pumped for the Mario blushes to come out when they were teased on Trendmood. And then they were launched and I found the color range to be sooooo waah waaaaaaah. I decided to wait for the reviews and while there wasn't anything overly negative said about them, there also wasn't anything said that excited me. I eventually swatched them in Sephora and suspicions were confirmed - too dewy, don't like the colors. I'm getting better at pushing through the hype now and really considering my purchases. I only want products that I am going to use consistently. It's also the reason that I own only one foundation and it's a tinted moisturizer. I hate wearing foundation and I hardly ever use it. I'm lucky that my complexion is pretty decent, so I just use concealer but even still - I sometimes find myself getting pulled in by foundation hype. Hype is hard to push through!

I'm struggling because the normal consumer in me wants a MUCH smaller collection, but the KZbinr in me knows that I have to buy new products to be successful - unless I pivot to an entirely different type of content, and then I'd lose a big portion of my audience. It's hard, I'm trying to strike a balance.

Oh totally! And "pushing through the hype" is not a dig or recommendation at all to you - trying new products is what your channel is all about. It's just something I've only just started to get good at in my own personal buying habits. Your content is the best! The reason I value your channel above so many is that you try hyped products but always tell it like it is.

Agree about phytosurgence eyeshadows all being a little too cool, except for the amber one which was almost straight up orange on me. I wish they made one somewhere in the middle. I actually ended up mixing Amber Aura and Chilled Cherry in a separate container, and I LOVE the resulting color, but independently they’re too extreme.

Ok thank you! I’ve never heard anyone agreed with me but the colors are just so off compared to my usual shades. They’re very muddy on me, except for amber aura which is too orange. But I love magnetic maple for a silver eye

I actually really like the VB eyeshadow on you! Agree with Jon, I think the blush was throwing it off, but paired with a more neutral shade and that last lip it would have looked stunning. My Phytosurgence blushes also changed in texture and it honestly discouraged me from trying more products from the brand :/

I like the eyeshadow color, but I agree something seems off about it. I think it would look good with different makeup. Like, I wonder if the warm tone of the foundation is throwing it off, and I don’t think the blush color is right at all. I think you look really pretty with cool toned eye looks, but you’ve got plenty of good products for those looks, which is clear from that wintery cool toned video you did.

Re: Phytosurgence. Their skincare is SO good, but the makeup is another story sadly. I thought the bronzer was growing mold so I emailed them about it since I hadn’t had it very long and they wrote back this VERY lengthy response about it not being mold but crystallization and how to deal with it and then pointed me to a FAQ on their website about how to use the product properly, and while I appreciated the response, I just don’t think bronzer should be that difficult or need its own FAQ 😂

I totally agree with the eyeshadow on your eyes, it was so pretty in the zoom in angle, but once your pulled camera further and looking at it with your face, the tones does not match your skin, you do have a great sense and taste at colortone!!!

The formula of the OG MUFE full cover was thick and tacky. It worked over tattoos and acne. The new one has more slip and doesn't cover as well. I think they tried to reformulated it to work under the eye :/

Hey, So, talking about make up by Mario - you like his bronzer enhancer, but don’t like blushes. How come? Isn’t that the same formula? I’m just wondering, because I have my eye on perfect pink but I think I should trust my instinct and not buy it, because enhancer just stays too balmy on my skin, the pigment disappears and the skin stays wet and dewy. Just the same way you described his blushes act on your skin. I just don’t understand how to make that enhancer work on my skin.

They perform and look completely different on my skin. The skin enhancer has this slight blurring quality and beautifully sets with powder. The blushes stay super wet, so I do feel that the formulas are different. I haven’t heard a single person say the blushes are life changing so I would skip!

I ship them to followers who want them. Everything in my declutter series (along with unopened PR) is going to two refugees that my content creator friend connected me with. I only throw out products that have expired or are very used.

Loved the video! I actually don’t have that experience with the phytosurgence blush. I very rarely wear makeup (less than 10 times a year) and my Sublimate hasn’t developed any graininess or anything. I sometimes use it as a lip balm (saw that it was ok on the brands ig), might be worth a try!
