In the original using gangs pretty much explains the villainous turns a lot more believably.

There’s more to it than that. - Virgil’s critical thinking skills are poor, as his emotions dictate his actions - Jean Hawkins, Francis/Hotstreak aren’t written well compared to the OG comic. - Letting Hardware mentor Virgil again 🤦🏿♂️

Virgil was actually facing Hotsreak stead of being a coward and shooting him in the back while he isn't looking.
@princewya3 жыл бұрын
@@TheEzekiel300 YES! That was the point of it, and that’s why it’s the better origin, Virgil was heading down the wrong path...a path of violence, cowardice, but he THOUGHT his way out of it, saying that’s not who he is. He went through peer pressure by his friend to do it, but he couldn’t do it. Virgil did not THINK when he gave in to Hotstreak’s insults and initiated the brawl. Remember, Hotstreak hurled a slur at Frieda and Virgil immediately threw the first punch without hesitation, causing his ass to get jumped. Virgil did not THINK when he fought Hotstreak at school and at his house. Yes, there was a student being harassed. Yes, Virgil has powers. But, no it was NOT the ideal time to use them, WITHOUT A SECRET IDENTITY in front of an audience. Knowing very well, that enemies/potential enemies of Virgil will show up at his door step or harm his friends and family.

I think they should have split the identity his real life verses his powered life. It does seem really weird that hot streak can just roll up on him at any time. I do still feel his original backstory was best at least from the stand point of the personal growth aspect. Also because changing it kinda cheapens the character to me. At least another name as a stand in would have been best. Getting caught up in a gang altercation around that time when static came out was extremely believable. Gangs could be found in the same area a lot in inner cities. Festivals, movie theaters, the mall etc. There was extreme rise in gang culture in the 90s especially after the movie colors. You’re obviously not a street oriented black man. Look at hip hop now. Almost every rapper is a gang member. From Tupac to young thug. Gangs a very much a big influence on our youth. Why not keep that? Since when have you seen people get tear gassed and killed during a protest since BLM started lol that’s way more unrealistic. This ain’t the 1960s when cops spayed protestors with water hoses. That’s a major lawsuit. I get it but they could of chose a Better way to implement BLM. Putting it as the origin story kinda watered static down. Idk maybe DC just didn’t want him to be associated with the gangs so he could be more presentable.

Uh its ok... ...so this lady comes in and so far makes a totally unknown character out of a fan favorite. What EGO The BLM march vs the gang war...ok PC and sign of the times but like the previous comment "I see gangs come together in ORD. (Not sure where Static's city is but it does seem to mirror ORD a lot. Maybe like another comment he may or may not be a Blerd. Nothing wrong with being a blerd and also a kewl guy. Many people have rehashed Superman but the core aspects of his story and character remain constant. Spider-Man the same. I hope that the fans can still recognize this man no matter what clothes that he may be wearing.

On the first page staic says BLM is Bs. His exact words are "Whats the point, im a black man and my life matters." And it wasn't just a BLM ralley it was also for gang violence

@@kingkong9892 Those weren’t Virgil’s exact words... Random girl: Didn’t think you were the protest march type, Virgil. Virgil: I’m a black person who thinks my life matters. What’s wrong with that? In context, this man went because he felt he was making a difference by being there, but in reality he was there to: - be around Frieda (his love interest) - blend in with protesters and hide from Hotstreak

OH My God this is Insane!!! This is actually much more believable than the original comics. The fact that hotstreak really came to Virgil's House to start a fight with him is just very accurate to how I think a lot of people would use their powers. They would immediately start by getting revenge or getting pay back. That's why I say static going to his school was a lot more universally relatable, who wouldn't do that. Plus the friend group of Richie Virgil and Frida is just perfect! This is the type of thing I would have done! Oh, I can't wait to have this in my hands!!!

Who's mad about the origin and that many gangs in one spot would not happen lol that's begging for the cops to snach u up

- The OG comic origin still holds up, The gangs were beefing over territory, and Virgil (who wasn’t apart of a gang) was just there to kill Hotstreak but couldn’t bring himself to do it. Also that place was in the most crime-ridden part of Dakota City, in which there’s less police presence in that area.
