In 2001, my Humble Brother Traz and I were commissioned to remix Static-X’s ‘Black & White’ for Warner Brothers.
This is an unreleased remix I assembled, after we finished the official THB version. It’s been in my playlist for over 22 years, and with great respect to the guys in Static-X, I thought I’d finally share it with our community 🤟🏻🔥
Much respect to Wayne (RIP), and Static-X ❤️
Special thanks to Dan Nathanson, and Warner Brothers Records
Additional programming by hiwatt & Traz
Additional guitars by Saki Kaskas (RIP)
This mix is a great example of why I went to so much effort to restore my Revox A77 a couple of years ago. Every single vocal effect in this mix was created with that magical Revox, before it died, and went into storage many years later. It makes such a signature sound, and it’s literally plastered all over everything I did back in the day. I’m so freaking excited to have it back, and in better form than ever…prolly good for another 20 years haha!!! In my own experience, there is nothing more unique than a real tape echo, they can sound as complex as a modern synth, particularly when ‘playing’ the feedback just right.
I hope you dig the GNARLIVOX modular 🤟🏻🔥. Btw, that’s ReBirth producing the 303 parts…oh man, remember how cool ReBirth was?!? 💥🔥
