I had to stop and just say "Thank You" for the laughs you create with your jokes and demeanor. It keeps us engaged and constantly absorbing info.

Awesome videos. I'm not sure how my instructor never thought to explain the concept of making a cut where the object will fall. That is so succinct and so helpful in figuring out how to start the FBD.

I didn’t fully understand it. Regarding the first question, how did we determine where the endpoint of the rope would be? For instance, if we extended the rope further, we would have had to cut it five times, and the tension would have been 20#.

In the man on platform problem, isn't it a mechanical advantage of 4t (not 5t) and the section of rope the man is pulling on, allows him to pull down rather than pull up which would be awkward.

I expressed all tensions in terms of T, and then I found the tension that had the highest factor of T (in other words, 2*T) and set that tension to 1500 N.

Another method: Let tension T1 = 1 Newton, and find the tension in the remaining pulleys on this assumption. Then scale it up, until the largest tension is 1500 N.

why did we count the redirecting rope as a tension rope in the 3rd problem?

can anyone explain why there are only one rope in the problem with the man? why don’t we count the 2 ropes tied off to the platform?

It's unfair to call T4 and T5 the weakest links, they're just the ropes being subjected to the most weight. Maybe if T1, T2, and T3 helped out a little more, T4 and T5 wouldn't have to carry so much
