Test fitting Escalade Cladding on a Silverado. It looks cool! - Desperado build

The Cladding on the sides of an Escalade looks awesome. Will it look good on my Silverado? Who knows!
I will need to chop it up and make it fit, but I’m up to the challenge.

I’ve dreamed of doing this as a cheap “wide body” kit but figured it would be a pain too fit and cut because the suv is shorter at first glance and I have a long box. That looks amazing. Like that should have been the factory SS body kit, it’s way more aggressive. The Escalade front isn’t quite my cup of tea (I like cat eyes) but that’s my own preference. Love it! It’s the most creative thing I’ve seen all day. NVM! I’ve seen the most recent video of the Escalade front painted and it looks perfect, nothing out of place, even the tail lights will look factory once it’s done.

Definitely a fan of the cladding itself all the choppy stuff can be tweaked with filler and glass. The escalade front end however I am not a fan of! I would do the bulged HD hood and split bar cateye front end.

@@StationroadRatrods I saw a big 3500 regular cab lifted dually truck with an escalade front end on it at Kroger once and it ruined the idea of the swap for me. To be fair it looks pretty good on this truck so that's excellent 😂😂

You are onto something really cool here. It will take a bit of work getting it all fit and finished, but it will look great. I also think it's a clever touch using those sections on the cab corners.

I did all the caddy cladding, rear taillights, rear bumper and integrated the 3rd brake light to the cab onto to my 2003 Sierra. I didn't swap the front end, I cut out the quarter panels/wheel wells and adapted them to my truck for better fitment. I also did this to the front fender wheel wells. My escalade was stolen and found with absolutely no interior just the shell, no engine trans and was crashed from the front when they dumped it I guess. I bought it back from the insurance co. in mind that I was going to rebuild it. to expensive and I had my spare truck. I did buy xtra rear cladding pieces to extend them and for the cladding ends. I did run into a guy who did the same thing but for the cladding ends he made them out of spray foam insulation and fiber glass. lol they didn't look bad. once you paint it and its one color it will look very good.

Holy crap! I’m sorry to hear about your truck, that sucked big time. I know how much work you put into it, I’d be pretty upset. What did you mean when you wrote about cutting out the quarter panels/wheel wells for better fitment? I haven’t really noticed any issues with mine, but maybe you could show me where it could be improved. Awesome idea putting the high stop brake light in, I bet that looked very sharp

I had my ss stolen once my real ss but I got it back within 3 hours I found it myself and some apartments 2 miles away. I told myself i am not just gonna sit around ima get up and look for it

I like where you're trying to go with this truck, I look forward to seeing how you come along with it. I just subbed to your channel because KZbin said, hay watch this, it thought I would like your channel (which I do) because I also am subbed to Full Custom Ian which is the KZbin channel of Ian and Jamie Roussel he does custom fabrication of cars and trucks and she does all the video work. He's been doing custom fabrication work since the late 1990s and he is fully self-taught, as far as I know. You should watch some of his videos because I think they may help you and you could even send him an email to ask for advice he is a good guy and seems very willing to help out people who are new at fabrication.

If you've watched Ian, you need to grey primer the truck so you can see it in one color. It shows all the lines so you can see where you need to adjust...you're painting it anyway so no harm. Keep up the good work!

@StationroadRatrods The best way to learn is to just do it. I haven't ever done it either, but all you can do is try! I would make the pieces that go on the bed one piece. That way, it doesn't look pieced together. I think it will be sweet when you get done. Bodyfiller will hide lots of imperfections.

Build looks nice! Ive always wanted to build a cadillac truck of that year. In my opinion on the cab to bed transition, it'd look slick if it didn't have the step in, just smooth transition with caps in the bed gap. Cant wait to see the next update/bulid video

This thing looks great! Kinda looks like if they made a "top of the line" 454 SS for that gen of Chevy truck and gave it a special body kit to make it look more aggressive. After it's done I think you are going to have a pretty sweet custom street truck build on your hands. Can't wait to see what color you go with! The headlights look surprisingly good, though a 2 inch cowl hood, Gloss Black slats on the grill (maybe even cut out the vertical slats), and a set of Torque Thrusts or Cragars would be awesome on it haha!

So since this video I’ve decided that I’m 100% going with the cladding. Sometimes it takes a lot to visualize something and see what it could be, but I’m going for it. I’m still sort of on the fence about the duck tail, but I’m trying to come up with a plan for how I could do it and make it look good and not tacky

All you need to get is a rear cladding from a junk yard to cut those 2 pices (inserts) to complete both rear pieces and you're set, we did that conversion to a 96 suburban a few years ago.

It’s been a while since I seen the Escalade cladding conversion. It can be done tastefully and even with the Escalade third brake light.

Out of the 2 trucks I’ve seen with the complete Escalade claddings, one had an Intimidator SS tailgate wing and the other had the smaller regular SS style cap, I’d definitely say the sharper lines of the Intimidator wing matches better with the cladding, if you do end up doing something on the tailgate.

Definitely needs the lower cladding, it looks both fitting with the Escalade front clip, and awesome on the RCSB pickup together.... kinda like what it's supposed to be, a Cadillac C1500, and a little bit of the Syclone appearance. I'd do it. Hell, I want the full first gen Escalade (1st gen Denali actually to keep it GMC) conversion for my own 97 GMC RCSB Sierra, but mine has a 6" lift on 35's 😅 Edit: and get yourself the Escalade rear bumper, rear hatch cladding, and 3rd brake light and then the later gen Nissan Titan power slide down rear window, graft everything in, shave the tailgate handle, put the wreath where it belongs on the back with the 3rd light either on top if the cab, or, on top of the tailgate, a nice couple inch drop with a C notch (doesn't need to be crazy low, just your typical car height), and some late gen 22" seven spoke Escalade wheels to fill those wells, and she'd be glorious 👌

I never thought of it as a syclone look when I was doing this, that’s neat. I actually have a lot of work done since filming this video, I have the Escalade rear bumper on it and welded in the panels for the tail lights. I haven’t found a good high stop light yet, but I may consider putting it on the roof, I think it’d be neat. I’ll be putting on the hatch cladding and wreath too, just haven’t gotten there yet. I’d like for people to say “wow, I didn’t know Cadillac made a truck!” Haha

Looks good man. I dig the escalade /silverado swaps. On my scsb, I welded fender bottoms that I cut from some scrap fenders. On my 4x4 flatbed dually crew, I left the cladding on all donor escalade doors and front clip. Just have the cab corners left to make.

Looks great! I’d lose the transition piece at the back of the cab and sculpt it and the front piece in the bed to only have a gap between the two pieces, but maintain the body lines. Fiberglass work isn’t rocket science. Now I’m tempted to pick up a set of Escalade cladding and see how much butchering I’d have to do to get it to fit my 2012 single cab Silverado.

So many people don’t go that extra mile of putting the cladding on. Don’t get me wrong it can still look good with just the front clip, even some of the newer body styles can pull it off. So I’m not hating, just for it to be all uniform and wheel wells matching throughout is really really cool. It’s gonna look like it rolled out of the Cadillac factory as an Escalade pickup. Can’t wait to see it finished, keep up the good work 👍

Suggestion. Take some string and line up the front fenders with the rear so they’re equal. And adjust from there.
