Glad you showed your struggle to get that in. Many people, myself included would have assumed they did something wrong instead of continuing

Glad it is not just me that can struggle. No videos in 11 years. Sorry for that. These are great.

When I saw multiple parts I was like “aw man”, but this is way easier than trying to find specific points of reference in a 34 min video. And I really appreciate the good lighting and fixed mount camera. Nice work!

Good video. Here is a great tip for anyone installing a stator. Getting the plug through the block is almost impossible. Buy spray silicone oil from any autoparts store spray it on the boot and inside the hole and your stator plug will push right through. I have tried other kinds of oils but they just dont work, The silicone spray is one of the best tricks passed down from my awesome brother passed down from biker to biker. Save yourself alot of time and aggravation and buy the silicone spray

Used silicon spray as per norsemensteve and slipped in 1st time no problems. Thanks man! Also, the videos helped me do this repair on my own. This video still useful after 14 years✌🏼

Should add silicone to the stator plug where it seals on the case

I experience that same problem, keep on buying a new stator with my Honda until I end up rewinding the stator by myself. What I did, I applied an epoxy every turns I made to improve the insulation of the magnet wire and resist from damaged due to vibration and it works! But the most common cause of burn stator is a leaking diodes of your voltage regulator

Did mine today Electra Glide 2004. Used silicon spray on plug and went it with little resistance.

It IS a fu**ing stator, isn't it!! I totally destroyed my new one trying to get the plug in. Time for round 2.

Advise next time use a needle nose grip style pliers. You can just push up instead of squeezing and pushing and trying to fit the plug in the hole.

Dude great videos. I heard you put RTV in the grooves on the shaft and around the inner ring of the Stator itself, Im gonna try that and see if it helps out. Thanks again and thanks for some tips from the comments too. I'm diving in right now.
@nythawknight65779 жыл бұрын
You can get the stator plug in a lot easier. Get a thin piece of wire or even a thin piece of polyester or thin nylon rope. Cut two 12 to 16 inch pieces and tape one piece to each flat side of plug with duct tape put the string thru opening and pull through. If it doesn't go through all the way at least you have it started easier.

seems like a gob of dielectric grease would do the trick and protect from moisture also

@norsemensteve Great Tip! Thank you, I'll give it a try next time. I gotta tell ya though, I had a heck of a time wrestling with that darn plug... notice that's the part you don't see. I had to take a knife and shave down a few of those ribs. Take care and keep the comments coming; your comments add value to the site. V/r, Scott V-TwinOnline

Using Locktite Black RTV would help with the plug part , also in would create a better seal. :) Great video though

598? , Does that help it slide in like a breeze or just a good sealant?

Ha me to I tried shaving the plug also. I actually broke my first one trying to get it in. I dont know how or why the silicone spray works when other oils dont but it will literally push right through with it. Anyway thanks again for the video

I learned a long time ago if tight spit on it and it went right in and I used angled needle nose no problem put a little silicone keep it keep the fluid in and the moisture out

VTwinOnline So I ran out of time and had to cover my bike for the night. I ended up using a fairly old tarp and as a result, got some old blue tarp contaminants in and around primary.. How good do I have to clean it before putting everything back together and what would you recommend using? Thanks

it seems there should be a better to get the plug in or a special tool. You could actually damage the new stator
@bobnolen76117 жыл бұрын
How did you get the rotor off without removing the primary case? I’ve heard that some guys use a die grinder on the case. Not sure I would do that.
@galenhof33713 жыл бұрын
I did that on my '99 King...about ten minutes with a flap disc on a four and half inch grinder will get you just enough room.
@1o4o3o212 жыл бұрын
there is actually a tool for pulling that plug in but it costs more than most stators.
