You are my heroes....I would love to do this kind of work. At least I get to work with Disney doing Stained Glass for the Galleries.

Thank you so much we really appreciate that! What a nice thing to say :-) Making stained glass and working with Disney that sounds amazing too!! Thanks again Next time we see some stained glass we will have to take a few extra moments to appreciate all the work that goes into it :-)

I'll ask it then. What did you use as a hard protective coating? I see all these 2 part coatings that promise a bullet proof coating. But they cost about ten times what the damn foam costs!
@TomSpinaDesigns5 жыл бұрын
For this one we used a polyurea, though these days we often use Smooth-On styrocoat. Simple cartridge sprayer and relatively low cost on the material side.

Thank you! We had a lot of fun working on her. That is up to the Governors Ball coordinators, perhaps we will see her in future festivals!

Awesome work, as per usual. I want to help with one of these projects. I know it's the other side of the country but if you have to build anything in LA in the next few months, keep me in mind. ;)

beyond impressive.. What do you seal your polystyrene with?

Hello June, Thank you for watching, we really appreciate your kind words. We used a Polyurthene spray cost for this one.

TomSpinaDesigns Do you find it hold up to weather mostly rain and sun?
@TomSpinaDesigns10 жыл бұрын
June Pegram So far its held up pretty well from our perspective.

TomSpinaDesigns Thank you for your answers, I have had problems with yellowing in the past. So I see you used some sort of primer, are you willing to share that medium? I recently used StyroSpray 1000 but the smell was crazy strong.
@TomSpinaDesigns10 жыл бұрын
June Pegram What you're seeing is probably the spray coat, we haven't used StyroSpray but for any coating like that ventilation and respirator are clearly a must.

Is this styrofoam? How does it get properly disposed of without harming the environment?!

how much did all this foam cost? everywhere i look it is so expensive. the sculpture i want to make will cost me $33,000 for the foam alone, is there a cheap place to get foam?
@TomSpinaDesigns7 жыл бұрын
Look for EPS suppliers, but indeed, foam isn't cheap (especially not shipping around giant blocks of it!)
