I've seen this line up twice, it's not the same, Rick was something else, but, these songs bring me so much joy and to see Francis still blasting them out is still a treat, just a shame there's no bluesy singer in the band to do Rick's parts well

No gimmicks, no sound effects, just four guys playing music together. It's tight with an air of looseness, especially from Original Drummer John Coughlan. The Clarity of Sound and warmth of this Single is even to this day, incredible. In some ways this Single shouldn't have been a hit, but there was so much pretentious stuff going on in the over production and manufactured music, ego's etc....Quo at this time came across as being totally opposite to everything going on in the world of Pop, so I guess for Quo, the timing of 'In my Chair ' was somewhat perfect I think that there was a lot of teenagers at the time trying to identify with who they were and unable to identify with most of the music on the scene at the time. I was definitely one of those myself!! On a Camping Holiday in France around 1969 with my Parents I met a French Group (Band) called Le Mikado; we were all Camping together and they were listening to Deep Purple's newly released 'In Rock' album. My first taste of Rock Music and I thought it was a French Band! It was/is a Magnificent Album and didn't know who I was actually listening to at the time, but it was SO different to the British Pop Music culture; then Quo started producing 'Down the Dustpipe', then 'In my Chair '....well there was 'Tune to the Music's which actually is bloody marvellous, but British Boogie had started and Quo were able to bring their brand of Commercially Acceptable Rock to the mainstream. Brilliant
