How bad was the headliner? I can’t think of a time you’ve shown cleaning a headliner.
@Tom-q6h2c Жыл бұрын
It's difficult to clean the headliner, you can't wet it too much otherwise the glue beneath the fabric will weaken, causing the material to sag.

@@Tom-q6h2cI have the same car as in this video, but I don't smoke and I keep it pristine. The headliner in these things is actually really, really tough. It's like a felt covered piece of vinyl. My cousin was vaping in my car last winter and wanted to blow it out of the sunroof. He vented it and closed the shade. I didn't know until I went to the car wash. No staining or sagging, but I was very pissed.

@StaufferGarage I bet the blue stuff in the cup holders was from some blue water flavor packets. When those spill, they cause that sort of mess, and they can even stain countertops. It makes sense based on where they were. Also, anytime you see a cloth seat or armrest that looks ahiny-oily, then it's caused by oils from human skin. If you're wearing shorts, if you're in the car a lot, use your armrest a lot without cleaning it, etc., that's what causes the oily portion of those stains. When it combines with dirt and dust and pollen and nicotine, etc., etc., that's what the end result is.

I don't usually do disaster details but just did one on a newer rav 4. I used a cheap but great Bissell spot clean Pro with SuperClean and a disinfectant deodorant mix. pump sprayed used drill brush them extracted until liquid was clear. took 35 minutes per corner of car so 2 hrs 20 min to extract. there was only one stain left in back seat which was from chemical customer used that ruined fabric permanently. no downer can remove it. The paint though was far worse than the disgusting seats and carpet. I had to fly decon twice, compound twice and polish twice. I'm sure I took off half the clear coat but after a total of 7 hours all day on one vehicle, it came out amazing. the customer sold it and gave me a thousand dollars for the restoration as it increased in value 3500$. even the dealer who saw the car again before and after asked me if I could work for them. I said thnks for the compliment but you'd never pay me a grand to do this for you. maybe 200$ if that. and for that reason. I'll just keep doing it for myself. I'm always inspired by you KZbin pros. learned a lot over the 10 years I've been cleaning cars. keep it up and encouraging us all. thanks for the great videos

You may disagree but what I did to clean my 2000 Camry LE was to take a 2 gallon bucket and fill it with hot water and a microfiber wash cloth. I'm the 4th owner of the Camry. Two of the owners were smokers. I don't smoke. I took the microfiber wash cloth and hot water and washed down half of the front interior of the Camry. It turned the water in the bucket a dark brown. This was just from hot water and a microfiber wash cloth. I try and keep the Camry interior clean. What I don't understand is how the interior can get so dirty when I don't smoke. I'm going to make a route to clean the interior of the Camry every two weeks. There are four burn holes in the fabric of the Camry. Two in the front driver door in the carpet on the door and two in the back sit. The only wear and tear to the carpet of the Camry is on the drivers side of the Camry. No floor mats. The other parts of the carpet are fine. Hardly any wear. I use Meguiar's Ultimate interior Cleaner, and a Meguiar's carpet cleaner. It does fabric too. Thanks much for your video.

If a prior owner is going to neglect the interior as bad as they did, I bet the engine, suspension, transmission, brakes, body etc. are equally as bad. I can’t imagine flipping a car without ANY other repair work done on this car. A clean car is useless when the engine breaks down and the driver is stranded somewhere.

This is kind of the reason why I stopped wanting used vehicles. Many sellers would either tell me they don't know or that prior owner wasn't a smoker. Then i find out down the road when relying on the heater during winter the prior owner was very much a smoker as it would cause a very nasty residue to end up on my interior window that is absolutely a pain to clean off. I don't say this to minimize what you've done as the before and after is amazing, just that doing the Ozone for the air system does leave tar build up in the air flow system, especially when someone is a heavy smoker/vaper.

You did a good job, but still no way you're ever getting all the cigarette smell out. You'd have to take it down to bare metal and clean or replace anything that smoke could have left tar on. For anyone else considering this, dont forget to replace the cabin air filter and use multiple cans of ac evaporator cleaner. The heater core would be hard to clean.
@Atl_Dan Жыл бұрын
What ozone machine do you use? Do you mind linking it?
@whatwilliwatch3405 Жыл бұрын
Watching things literally change color as you clean them is wild (3:48, 6:30). What's even wilder? As much of that gunk as you managed to extract from the vehicle, exponentially more of it was ending up in the previous owner's lungs. I'd drink a sip EACH of Juice #1 (7:18) and Juice #2 (21:57) before I'd take up smoking 😓 Also, how often do you have to replace your microfiber towels, brushes, drill attachments, etc.? I know there's some degree of reusability, but I'm sure between regular use and/or occasionally coming across weird stuff like the blue gunk (13:40), you have to get a new one.

I wouldn't recommend generic floor mats most of the time as they slide around and don't hook in to the clips for the factory floor mat. They can slide up and get caught in the pedals or keep you from being able to press the brake pedal down all the way and cause an issue. My truck came with two sets of generic junk floor mats and I ended up tossing both because of that. It's too old to find a new set of factory mats and most used sets are either trashed or just gone if I were to try and find a set at the junk yard. So I just do without and know I have a little more work to deal with when cleaning the driver's floor.
