As a whisk(e)y fan who is here for the great stories and to hear Daniel wax poetic, we need to hear more about what is going on with the Wizard Academy. I will, some day soon, attend some of the great classes you offer! I think we are your kind of people and you should share the goings on.

Barrell is so incredibly great at blending. It’s insane. They do great finishes as well. Barrell Armida was a long time favorite of mine.

Sadly discontinued! Seagrass is also terrific.

I would love a video on your recommendations of coming back to whiskey. I took a year off of all alcohol, and now have lost that muscle of discerning flavor.

I have already completed the Scotch and Irish course at EWA because I would like to work in the whiskey industry at some point. Very great and detailed courses, can't wait until the American Whiskey course is available. Thank you Daniel for taking part! 🥃

Daniel - In describing the flavors during a tasting, what's the science behind the flavors you sense initially on the sip, then as the whiskey sits on your tongue, and then for the finish? Can flavors be timed, and how does that work?

Thanks for the video! Barrell Vantage sounds like my kind of bourbon!

This bourbon really sounds like a great option for aged rum drinkers

Hi daniel! Please include the upcoming courses in these. I have every intention to attend the courses at whiskey academy, and knowing the inline programs get me the somme discount really helps. I am actually curious, what were the big hurdles you and Rex had when starting the distillery. I would love to hear more about the trials and tribulations you guys had as I am inspired by you guys to do the same. already watched all the tribe episodes about it, and I'm finding myself consuming more about it now with further education in the craft. hope this reaches you well, cheers

I’ve done the Edinburgh Scotch and Irish courses, both beneficial. Looking to do the diploma probably remotely after I’ve completed the Council of Whiskey Masters Certified Whiskey Specialist course. Getting addicted to these education programs!

Great video. 👍🏼 I myself currently learning for the Certified Scotch Professional (CSP) by the Council of Whiskey Masters.

Just one question, What's Facebook? ..... just kidding , just don't bring it up again! Rather just watch you here! Keep up the great work Daniel, you're doing fantastic!

So nice to hear Daniel pronounce Edinburgh properly. Haha.

I've been curious about Barrel. But I personally I enjoy hearing about your classes. You should check out Alex Hormozi's books. As always, thank you for another great conversation 🥃☺️

I think this video is titled wrong; is the bottle "vintage" or "vantage"? Would a once-a-month video about classes be worthwhile?

So, it has been a few years since you did a review of Barrel Vatted Malt. Seeing the growing popularity for American single malts and your love of blends could another review this or something similar be in the future?

I’m probably a year or two out from being able to make the pilgrimage to the som school. Have you ever considered hosting remote sessions for the school stewarded by local soms?

a bit off topic, but have you ever tried any whisky from Kyro Distillery in Finland? I tried their 4 pack of tasters and I was really impressed - 100% rye malt, the oloroso sherry finish and the Alder smoked malt was really good.

I wonder if the answer to talking about what you have going on at the Wizard Academy is as simple as the equivalent of "parish notices." So near the beginning you mention something like "stick around to the end for some parish notices" or "there will be perish notices today." (I know, true parish notices are usually given before the sermon) Then after you're done with the main content/story/sharing/education/etc. you pick it back up and share what's going on. I think you'd have to find a fun title for that segment. I listen to a beekeeping podcast that calls his equivalent the "Local Hive Report." Finding a whiskey or marketing or wizard equivalent of that kind of title. Maybe its got a gimmick where you film that part at another location or angle so its clear that a transition has happened, kind of a nod to "and now the weather"

Did anyone else anticipate Daniel would use the term "cloying" when he mentioned it is a sweet whiskey?

Daniel and Greg from How To Drink had equal parts in pushing this word into my consciousness. Prior to being introduced to them this word literally never entered my mind

Are there any peated bourbons out there?
@jstewart3iii3 ай бұрын
Yes! Probably the best example is by Kings County Distilling in NY. But Berkshire Mountain (MA) and Rock Town (AR) Distilleries also have peated bourbons. There are a few more out there but those are three excellent craft distilleries doing good work.

You need a new "mooch." Someone to be talking to instead of a camera/us. You can tell that person anything you want because that person has to be interested for free whiskey.

I did EWA; Vic (@TheWhiskyMinister) was a great instructor, the info was great, and the test was NO JOKE! I can’t wait to do Stave & Thief Executive Bourbon Steward. And of course Wizard Academy Somm 2 in December. But if you EVER are able to go to Wizard Academy for whiskey and/or marketing classes, it’s fun, eye opening and DEFINITELY not a cult 😂

I took the ewa test while suffering food poisoning. I powered through and passed though.
