Miss Vega has perfect pitch! Singers like her are unappreciated...people think only "good" singers belt out a song and scream it...but it is very hard to have this much vocal control on low notes like she does!

Always thought this would have been ideal as the intro song for one of the "Nightmare On Elm Street" movies.

I first heard this on RadioLab, and have been devastated that I couldn't find it since. How haunting is this!? I love it. Thank you for posting it.

I got this from the Disney CD years ago at a college radio station. I have sung this to my husband and niece, they both love it.

I remember this from a Hal Wilner compilation, of 80s rock acts doing Disney songs. I think it was called "Stay Awake." This was the only song I actually liked from it, though I think Los Lobos did "I wanna be like you" and Tom Waits probably contributed something as well.

Tom Waits covered Heigh Ho and I think its pretty good but I understand why someone wouldn't like it

IMO the other good song on that compilation was Buster Poindexter - seriously, him!! - doing a terrific job on "Castle in Spain". kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2TMlap-aZebh80 (I'm also fond of Ken Nordine's basso growl on "Desolation Theme" from _Pinocchio._ But that's a more exotic flavor.)

Unless you have a deep voice to begin with... or not? I can sing those deep notes without problems, though I am very bad singer usually.

Bit of a Japanese feel to it.

Mostly excellent. Wobbles a bit and goes flat at 0:48 which is disappointing. Not that I could do better though. (And it could just be the recording, not what was actually sung.)
