Off topic to the video, but get this! I was at my local Bass Pro yesterday lamenting the fact that I didn't buy the 106sv for 50% off on black Friday when a salesman asked me if I needed any help. I asked him when the next sale was. A moment later he ducked behind the counter & came up with a box with a note on it. He explained how it was left over from the blafk Friday sale, ONE unit left. I ended up getting a $2099 unit for $999 yesterday!!!! Like it was meant to be!!

If you’re going to install Garmin Steady Cast, it doesn’t simply plug into the unit. It requires a NMEA 2000 network. That might be a good future video

Correct, I have a NMEA 2000 video that shows all that as well

Great video. Super informative!! Would also love to learn more about how to modify tack color, and if you can make it a solid line vs dotted. Also, have always wondered if you can delete tracks for a single lake. Keep up the good work!
@MGMarineTech2 жыл бұрын
Tracks in my opinion are slightly flawed and I have yet to get them completely figured out. There’s a way I think they should work, and then the way they do work lol.
@cgraz33832 жыл бұрын
@@MGMarineTech funny you mention that. I found a way to change the white part of the track to a different color and changed it to red. I can’t seem to find where I did that though. Still learning my way around. Would be nice to have a solid track line. It gets a little clutter with contour lines. Ideally I’d like to have a solid track line that’s not black to eliminate confusion and clutter when graphing.
@MGMarineTech2 жыл бұрын
@@cgraz3383 changing the colors can be done easily. I’m not sure about making them a solid line other than black The tricky part comes when you try to save tracks other than the current track.

This video is perfect for my issue right now. New boat, heading line is on, and I'm moving at about 7mph. The heading line shows 30 degrees to the port, but I know the boat is pointed straight and no way is it going in the direction of the heading line. 30 degrees is alot and a pretty big error. Any thoughts ?
@MGMarineTech4 ай бұрын
Do you have a heading sensor? Like a steady cast or 24xd?

@@MGMarineTech - I don't think so. The boat is brand new 30' Sportsman Center console. I've got that same question into the dealer.

Love your videos I have learned a lot from you. Thank you so much. My question today is when adding a heading sensor do I keep my Northup head up or coarse up on which one would I put on with the heading sensor? Thank you.
@MGMarineTech Жыл бұрын
Thank you!! North up will do just that and keeps north at the top of the screen. Switch to course up to keep the map in relation to the boat

Hello I have the steadycast sensor. I have a cable coming from the back of my unit to a three nema2000 3 port Tee connection. The steadycast using a port and I have 12 volts. My problem I don't see it on my garmin 1242xsv unit. Do I need the resistors on both ends to make it come on???.

I have two Echomap UHD units networked with an ethernet cable. I should be able to install SteadyCast sensor with small NMEA backbone with power, sensor and console graph. Shouldn't the front graph have the SteadyCast info through the ethernet from the console?
@MGMarineTech2 жыл бұрын
Short answer is no. The NMEA 2000 network doesn’t share data with the garmin marine network. Check out my Nmea 2000 basics video I go over all those details

I have an Echomap UHD 93sv on the front deck and one at the console which are “connected”. Are these units capable of setting a heading line or would I need a separate heading sensor?
@MGMarineTech2 жыл бұрын
Yes they will set a heading line, but it’s only accurate while you are moving. Without a sensor that is Once you stop. Your map can spin, and your heading line may be pointing somewhere completely different than where the boat actually is. The fix for that is a heading sensor.

I can see this being useful. However I tend to be backing up to my waypoint when anchoring on the river and the map gets stupid. So I touch the waypoint and then the screen shows me the distance to that waypoint as I'm backing up and setting the anchor. If the heading line would show on the back of the boat using the 2 together would be even better.
@MGMarineTech2 жыл бұрын
That’s where the angle markers come into play as well as adding a heading sensor to keep your map accurate while stationary.
