The movie that got me interested in self defense was Roustabout with Elvis.

Matt, the vagus nerve that you mentioned will shut down nearly all the body's system when struck in the solar plexus with a punch as if you are splashing water from a drinking glass.

This is such a good subject, MA is much like food, so many ways to dish it out and I like variety! One thing I like is finger tip strikes to the eyes (extremely fast) as an open hand moves faster than a closed one. At the very least your bully attacker is temporarily blinded in a technic that takes a fraction of a second! Love elbows so much, I would consider lets say a right elbow strike followed up with a right hammer fist because you are right there all set up and a hammer fist has the potential to deliver the most power a hand can give if you study the physics behind the trebuchet and apply it to a hammer fist. Just an awesome video, thx for sharing!

Decent advice havent been in a physical altercation. But I am always prepared to defend myself. I look very unassuming, but even witnessing great violence as a kid and my uncles teaching me a bit.

Thank you for the opinions based in law on self defense and Taiwan. My son was in his first week of school in Northern FL after we moved from PA. A football player tried to bully my son by picking a fight with him. Paul won The North East Karate Tournament and eventually ended up beating up several kids on The Football Team. They were going to suspend him for fighting even though it was self defense. I put him in a Private Christian School and he didn't have any problems after that. I am just glad I didn't let him watch Bas Rutten's Lethal Self Defense. lol

I don't have a cell phone, and I try to have situational awareness. Condition Yellow, relaxed alert and upwards as the threat increases.

@@johnbrinton3873 Hi John, you made me laugh. Yes, I am the guy. I don't need one. I am thinking about carrying an old unused one we have, charged up in case I need to call 911.

My last use of self defense was nearly 25 years ago after finishing Jerry Peterson's SCARS when a 23 year old man was hitting his girlfriend while she was holding her newborn infant. I enjoyed that time probably more than any other time.

With all respect Maestro it's great to know defense techniques , but my question it's always how will a person react when some one that's a street fighter punches them on the temple, nose or below the eye socket how will they react , it's kind of easy to trow a punch but are you ready to keep going after receiving some punches and salutations from San Diego .

I didn't need a phone, I could hear my dad calling my name blocks away. lol It usually meant I was in trouble. I got tired of being told what I had to do; so, I quit High School and joined the military. lol

Yes! We all do, but you can condition it so it natural slows and gets deeper when you are facing stress of any kind. It’s one of my tools I teach in person but I haven’t talked a lot about it on KZbin. I’ll make you a video on how to do it. Thank you!
