People always forget another external safety for even Glocks is your HOLSTER. Getting a good safe Kydex holster that completely wraps around and blocks your trigger all the way around, nothing is going to get in that trigger to pull it. The only caveat is you gotta make sure there are no obstructions when you’re inserting your pistol, no clothing or draw strings etc to bind up in the trigger when holstering. But a fully holstered pistol has another safety that externally prevents it from being fired. It’s not just gonna go boom. Your striker blocker AND striker spring would have to fail simultaneously for it to just go off which will never happen and even then probably wouldn’t have enough force to ignite that primer if the spring broke which you never hear happening in the first place.

Good stuff Steve Thank you. I personally do not keep one in the chamber when locked up in my single gun safe. I can open, grab and rack one within 20 seconds. My dog would be the first alarm that someone is in the house. The reason for me is you're supposed to warn the intruder before legally allowed to fire AND only if they are coming at you or attacking someone. It will be a different story when my CCW arrives and permitted to cary.

@@sillykicker0877 in my state we fortunately have the castle doctrine and even can shoot trespassers if they don’t leave. Even our cars count as protecting our property. We may be a permit carry state, but they at least understand the castle doctrine. Back in my home state of New Hampshire it’s constitutional carry, you could walk down the street with an AR on your shoulder and it’s legal, zero permits anymore and castle doctrine. In a perfect state you get permitless carry and castle doctrine where you can fire as soon as an unwanted/ unknown person crosses that threshold or refuses to leave upon demand, but that’s obviously not the case in most states. Here we do have permit carry, but least it’s super simple to get the permit only waited 2 days for mine, and it’s 5 years expiration and no classes needed. Only $15 for the 5 year permit. Just renewed mine so I’m good till 2029.

I have a Springfield hellcat with the safety on it and I’m not too crazy about it. I have never had a malfunction with a Glock and all the years of carrying that on top of that they don’t take a whole lot of cleaning unless you’re using cheap ammo.

@Mike-xi4zt Жыл бұрын
Trigger dongles is just for making the gun drop safe it's not a true safety. Glock does not have three safeties it has a trigger dongle and a firing pin block and those are for making it so it doesn't go off if you drop it. There is not 3 safeties or a real safety on a Glock. They have devices to keep them from going of from being dropped.

Yes. I understand your concern. I have Sigs and I do like them. I have never had any issues with them but I don't have the p320. If I did, I'm not sure what I would do. I don't know if it's a design issue or some other cause. Strange how there have been reported discharges in holsters (without pulling the trigger).

I’m surprised there is still any question about this. Yes, it is better to carry with a round in the chamber. If you’re not comfortable, that’s okay, and you can still be effective without the round chambered but it’s a disadvantage. Perhaps you can get your unloaded gun into the fight faster and more effectively than I can with my loaded pistol. But you will never be as fast as YOU are with a loaded pistol.

I was shocked to hear that this was even a question anymore. Are there people that actually carry their self defense tool unchambered? Still? That just seems very odd to me. If their question is safety, of course it’s safe. Especially with a Glock that has only a partially cocked striker. I carry a fully pre-cocked striker Walther PDP in the appendix position every day and it is always chambered. Bottom line. Get a good holster made for your model and I promise you the gun isn’t just going to fire by itself.

I moved out of NJ. I was born and raised there. I’ll never move back unless they change their gun laws. I feel like I was robbed of my second amendment right for almost 30 years. I moved to DE and I automatically had that right (open carry without a permit and no permit to purchase). We still should have constitutional carry across the board (open and concealed) but NJ is the absolute worst.

People should do what they are comfortable. True. But if it is not ready to fire it is much more likely that you won’t survive the encounter. God forbid that day ever comes. Nothing in the chamber equals an expensive paperweight.

they only safety on a glock is the drop safety. I'd rather have a manual safety or a suepr hevy trigger pull - this is for carrying. For home defense when its never pointer at me - yeah, i can put one in the chamber. The percentage of the scenarios where you need a loaded gun for self defence is way lower than risking my life by carrying one in the chamber. Maybe later i will but for now, its a manual safety or i have to rack it.
@Mike-xi4zt Жыл бұрын
What is the 3rd safety on a Glock? There's a trigger dongle, there's a firing pin block, what is this third safety? Those aren't even safeties they' are for making it so it doesn't negligently discharged when you drop it. What is this third safety?
@@martelltraininggroup the trigger safety i get... The firing pin safety is nothing more than you not pulling the trigger far enough back to release it, all they did was add more travel length to the trigger before it releases the firing pin. The drop pin, well if dropped right, it can still go off. NO GUN is 100% SAFE
