sometimes there's a thin line between comedy and tragedy sometimes. you need to be sensitive to be able to read a room and tell a joke that will land with your audience. plus, making someone laugh can be a way to stay safe in a hostile environment. so, often, comedians will have very deep and sensitive souls. I think of Robin Williams. nothing is universal. but it's not uncommon to have sadness and an ability/need for laughter to go hand in hand in a person.

Strip away everything else, the lipsync alone was technical perfection. You could almost swear she was singing. Add the concept, the fashion, all the lighting, etc and this became transcendent. Bravo, Utica and the team who worked on this vid with you.
@kerukei13 жыл бұрын
I showed this to my husband and he was convinced she was singing the song. I had to remind him that Utica does not have a higher range voice like that. We both watched the season together and I guess through her performance he forgot that Utica cannot actually sing like that simply based on how real her lip sync looked. I agree completely; Technical Perfection.

Utica's artistry is phenomenal and intentional. This gown with constellations of stars like a galaxy reads like a symbol of all the possibilities contained within a person. So much potential. Those strings around her at the end and connecting to the heart read like strings continually attaching the galactic body to a relationship they know is bad for them. But it's hard to stay away, so those strings are like a cage in the one scene, attached to the heart and running out to the other person in other scenes. And in that final scene, the strings are falling slowly only to rise back up. This feels like a comment on how these connections to even the wrong people are in flux. They rise and fall in intensity. So much respect for UTICA.

Please tell me that the tightening of the strings is to represent the distress of your heart and its strings from having and then loosing love, and the turmoil of it all. And when the song seems to pan out the strings and you heart begin to loosen again begin to set and begin to heal. I love this so much. Truly an inspiration.

"Stayaway" If I see my old friends, we'll go out dancing If we go out dancing, then we'll go to the bar If we go to the bar, then there's gonna be drinking If I drink, I wanna see where you are So I don't see my old friends, I don't go dancing I don't do most things I used to do Actually, now that I'm thinking about it I did most things to get to you No one ever told me leaving was the easy part I gotta stay away Leaving you was easy, now I gotta do what's hard I gotta stay away Stay away, stay, stay away Stay away, stay, stay away If I go driving, then I'll put on music If I put on music, then I'll play your song If I play your song, then I think I'll lose it End up pulled up at the front of your lawn So I don't go driving, no, I just stay in I don't do most things I used to do 'Cause every moment is a fork in the road And all my roads lead back to you (You, you, you) No one ever told me leaving was the easy part I gotta stay away Leaving you was easy, now I gotta do what's hard I gotta stay away Stay away, stay, stay away Stay away, stay, stay away If I turn off the light, then I might start thinking If I start thinking, I'll think of the time when You said that you love me, you said I was perfect You said you were sorry, you said you were selfish If I don't stop it, before I know it All the bad things never happened You never lied or treated me bad and If you did, then you'll wish you hadn't Start believing you were right and I was being too dramatic So I gotta leave the light on for tonight Just so I can stay away No one ever told me leaving was the easy part I gotta stay away Leaving you was easy, now I gotta do what's hard I gotta stay away Any little misstep, I'll be at your doorstep Talking 'bout forgiveness, giving you my heart back Just so you can break it one more time before I say I gotta stay away Stay away, stay, stay away Stay away, stay, stay away Stay away, stay away Stay away, stay, stay away
