One of the considerations for a helmet for me was keeping cool as I get terribly warm wearing a motorcycle helmet. With that in mind I went with a modular helmet. The model I went with the front locks open so it can be ridden as an open faced helmet in summer.

Magic vids, helped me so much. just got a GS500 after 10 years of non riding. And the chewing gum is an essential tip that i never thought of..my gob is so dry when riding, thats the perfect antidote.

Oh yeah absolutely! Chewing gum is a game changer. I've always chewed while riding. Most of the time I stick it in the side of my mouth or under my tongue, but when you need it, quick few chews and you're good. 🤜🤛

Sun glare was a real problem for me, so I bought a Scorpion helmet with an internal flip down sun visor. It works well and I also wear glasses and have no issues.

Nice one dude, hope you're keeping well up there 😁 Haha, I went out in my leather jacket the other day and just cooked! 😂 Back to my waxed jacket minus thermal liner after and much more comfortable, and I know what you mean about those riding jeans, great while you're moving but no fun when you stop. All part of the learning process. Been riding just about one year and two months, in all weathers, and loving it. Cheers for all your useful tips. One thing about biking, is that you never stop learning. Ride safe 😁

Always enjoy your vids. 👍 Saw a bike with a cup holder the other day, that was a new one on me. Took both the thermal liner and the waterproof liner out of my jacket, but it looks 3 sizes too big now. Mesh jacket definitely on the shopping list. LIDL do a cheap spray hand sanitiser that I use to spray into boots, helmet and gloves after a hot ride. Kills off the sweat bacteria that can start to smell after a while. I did have a pair of gloves that got stinky - used the steam cleaner on them, but it turned the insulation crispy. My best upgrade for the heat - a French Fitness Revolution Helmet Liner. Soak it in cold water before you set off - like a big wet sock for your head - lovely.

Love your videos. Hope you can answer a few questions: I'm almost 40, been driving a car for ~15 years never an issue. Looking to get a bike but wondering how dangerous it ACTUALLY is compared to how its portrayed. I'm not a manic hormonal teen that would do 120mph for thrills but wondering how many times YOU have lost control/went for a slide (if any) or have you ever had any close calls? I ask as you're videos show you are a competent rider and would be how I would ride if I were to get a bike. just curious to how often dangerous situations occur that are out of your control even if you are an experienced sensible rider as most of the crashes I see on youtube are where the rider has pushed the limits or their luck. Thanks 👍
@MotoEcosse
@MotoEcosse 2 жыл бұрын
Hey bud. Every rider at some point will have a close call to some degree, whether that's going into a corner too fast or something involving another road user. I've had a few over the years, most have been down to other road users. The most common one is they're just not paying attention and don't see you. Obviously being sensible and being aware of everything around you is always the best way to ride, but being sensible isn't going to stop other road users from driving like idiots. In my opinion, other road users are the biggest risk to bikers. Driving any vehicle on the road comes with risks tbh. Being sensible and developing your rider skill is key, by doing this you can trust your own riding ability. Getting my licence is by far one of the best things I ever did. Yes there are risks, but by getting a good riding instructor and developing your skill over time and knowing what to look for when you're out can help keep you safe. At the end of the day, if you have the right mind set then you're minimising the chances that something will go wrong. In terms of how often I've had a dangerous situation, not very often tbh. 99% of the time I'm out, I never have any issues. I'm not a fast rider and I never ride above my skill level, doing that can put you in a tricky situation. Biking does have a stigma attached to it, usually this is from people who've never ridden a bike in their life. Riding a bike has so many benefits from cutting down journey time to improving congestion. The pros of riding a bike totally outweigh the cons and I can guarantee that if it's something you're genuinely interested in doing, the first time you get out and ride you'll be absolutely hooked. Plus there are hundreds of groups throughout the UK that organise group runs and in general you'll find the biking community is very friendly and experienced riders are always willing to help new or less experienced riders. Hope this helps mate, if there's anything else you want to know feel free to get in touch. 🤜🤛

It's been too hot to ride a bike here in the E.Midlands. It's been 40.3⁰ and it's that bad that the gritters have been out spreading grit and sand on the road cause they have been melting. I definitely wouldn't want to go out on the road when it's like that. More chance of a blow out too. Ride safe everyone. Far too many people out in just shorts and t shirts. I wouldn't like to be them if they come off thats for sure. I'm sure you can get replacement sun visors, just check the manufacturer site to see, rather than sunglasses. I'm lucky my helmet comes with a built in pop down sun visor which is very handy.

I would just like to ask a question regarding the bag to carry on your back. Are these bags pacifically for motorcycles that you should get from a proper motorcycle dealer or can you use ones from outdoor stores? The reason I’m asking is due to the size of the bag as I don’t want to carry one that’s too big and flaps about as I’m riding.

Hey, Craig. The bag I use a RST luggage bag. Any bag would do really. It all depends on your needs for storage etc.

@@godfather9253 I had a cbf125..it's a great bike, cheap to run and insure, and I actually got back more money than I paid for it when I sold it. Mine was in immaculate condition when I bought it and I sold it on it immaculate condition too. So as long as you look after them and don't leave them outside to rust you will recoup your money for when you purchase your next bike. Good luck with it all. I didn't have any experience either, and I was 51 when I passed my test last year, so if I can do it anyone can lol. Safe riding 🏍
