Whoever told you to attach the knife to your hip in that way is trying to get you killed. You NEVER attach the knife to your body in that way. Simple reason is for people who work specifically on this type of thing, it's a diagonal step to get to the part of the body and it's a quick grab, parry or worse, have the knife attach to you because he jammed you up and you will have the knife returned into you. There is a better way to do this and 'attaching' it to yourself like that is not it. In terms of reverse/ice pick grip, that's probably the easiest one to parry because you see it coming and for guys who work with it, it's a simple parry to to a wrist grab which can turn into a reverse armbar or wrist lock that takes you to the ground. That position also is leading with the knife where, again, guys who know how to deal with this can take that shit away from you easily. Go to Inosanto Academy and learn the proper way to do this, son. I'm not from Guro Dan's system. I do something else and I can tell right away, you're a grappler with zero understanding of weaponry.
