Steady Body v2.0 | Revisited

The original video was a joke between me and a friend, I did not expect it to blow up the way it did and literally monetise my channel single-handedly. With 500 000 views reached I wanted to go back to it and do it properly, addressing the feedback I received, featuring more than 3 times the bosses, charm limitations and side-by-side comparsions to make it easier to show whether there is a difference or not. At the end of the day, this is about player choice of playstyle, pick what you prefer but don't be afraid to try something new.

Early on in my first Hollow Knight playthrough, I used Steady Body as a crutch. That's all the community saw it as, something to help new players who didn't fully grasp the game's combat yet. Eventually I dropped it from my main setup, either to make room for charms I thought were more valuable like Quick Focus, hearing the community's opinion on it, or both. Thanks to your video, I now realized that Steady Body is not merely a crutch, even a seasoned player can make use of it. Sure, holding forward to readjust your position after each hit is easy and only takes a handful of frames, but over the course of a boss fight that time adds up. Steady Body turns that lost time into extra nail strikes, making it an efficient component of any nail based build. A small, unassuming, and weak looking item that gets dismissed at first glance, but secretly holds great potential; it mirrors our player character quite nicely

I agree that this charm is not needed for every boss, but being able to corner Hornet, Soul Warrior, lost Kin and safely hit through ground spikes in NKG, THK and pure Vessel is so good. It also is useful in casual playthroughs, for only one notch you avoid enemies pushing you in spikes.

Sweet. Steady Body feels amazing once you get used to it. I feel like it makes you less likely to take damage by walking into a boss and you absolutely can sneak in an extra nail swing without having to get in extra close for an upslash.

For me I played all of hollow knight with steady body, and a build isn't a build without it. No charm bindings had me rethink a lot of how I play, and ultimately I still run steady body. That mid air control is everything to me. Its definitely not a requirement by any means and I can see why people think its pointless. To each their own I guess. Still its one charm slot, so pick your poison.

I agree that steady body is really useful for certain bosses, but acting like you have steady body without actually having it doesn't prove that it's better to have it... Really good vid overall, I didn't even knew broken vessel had safe spots during this attack :)

Thank you! The point of this video was to address the main crtiticisms of the original one, the biggest one being that you could accomplish the exact same results without Steady Body simply by holding forwards on your controller or keyboard. Naturally that means I have to do the exact same thing with and without the charm to show that in a lot of places it is not possible to get the same results. Then people can decide for themselves whether having the charm is worth it or not in their own build, for some people it is not better and that is okay.

In the base game, I do think it’s a crutch. If you’re going for radiant bosses or doing pantheons though, anything goes. This charm helped me an insane amount doing all bosses radiant and I don’t think I could have done it without it

this is a great argument for steady body and i love this video but for me personally i do significantly better on sisters of battle without it, but thats just cause i try to get 3 hits on every mantis when they appear and utilize the self knockback to move from their hitboxes. might just be me tho, i def gotta start using this though its really good

just wanted to say, when NKG does the four flamed pillar attack and he floats in the sky and judges you, you can get in four nail hits if you move and maybe dash towards him asap instead of baiting out the first pillar then on third pillar move towards him again and get two more hits in also steady body does help you not get destroyed when going for the four hit maneuver as well

On the fire pillars attack, it can go up to 11 hits I believe, or somewhere around there. It does take a lot of practice to do though.

When I first played hollow knight I thought steady body would make you unable to pogo because it said that it removes weapon knockback you take. I was surprised when I realized that wasn't the case. Also steady body doesn't affect the knockback you take when you upslash for some reason... I guess vertical knockback is entirely unaffected by steady body.

It might be underrated and all, but have you tried using Pogo and DDark Heard it works wonders against bosses like TMG and Sly and even God Tamer But the video itself was just 🤌🤌

@@gaganzanwar DPS wise Quick Slash and Pure Nail is better than Spells in the end game, but early game spells are superior. You run out of soul but not nail swings, which is why a nail build comes out on top in terms of pure damage.
