Composers George Bates and Mel Stitzel wrote this hot number in 1925. "Steady Roll Blues" was soon recorded by Bix Beiderbecke, Muggsy Spanier and The Bucktown Five and became an instant jazz classic. Automatic Music Roll Company of Chicago wasted no time in getting this roll out to the public on A-1226, '"'SOME' BLUES'". No record of it being issued by QRS on a standard 88-note roll per the "Billings Rollography" so I would venture it was arranged on the drafting tables of Clark Orchestra Rolls who supplied all A and G-Rolls to Automatic up until 1929.
