I raise “pasture raised” chickens. Some of them are Leghorns. They lay white eggs. They are just as healthy an egg as my brown eggs. The color of the eggs isn’t what matters. The chicken’s diet is what matters.

It's winter time here and I started to get a bit of a cold. I really wanted a hearty creamy chicken soup. I experimented and had great results doing this. I wanted to share it with you guys. Chop up some roasted chicken meat and add it to a pot with some broth. Bring it to a boil.... In a separate bowl, whisk 2 eggs. When the broth comes to a boil, whisk a ladle of the boiling broth into the eggs at a time. It will bring up the temperature of the eggs so that you don't end up with scrambled eggs. Now, turn the heat down to a simmer and add in the egg mixture. You have a thicker soup base. To add a little fat and velvety feel I added some heavy cream. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes stirring occasionally. Put it in bowl, sprinkle a little bacon on top and perfect. Warm and soothing. So good and it hits the spot. Think of the possibilities. A warm creamy seafood, beef, any meat soup minutes away. Perfect for any meal.

A great recipe is 2 pounds of ground beef mixed up with 12 raw eggs. Add salt and pepper. Press the mix into a casserole dish and and let sit in the fridge for a few hours. Then cook it in the oven at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Serve with hot beef broth poured on top of it. My version of meatloaf.

My carnivore staples are: Eggs, bacon ( I fry the eggs in the bacon fat). chicken thighs, (I like them best on the BBQ and I put some hickory chips in a little smoker box for flavor) some times just season the thighs and pop them in the oven on a cookie sheet. , Tri-tip beef roast (ditto on the BBQ and hickory smoke. This is very popular in California), Beef Brisket in the crock pot with butter, salt and pepper and garlic powder (must confess I use a little sugar free BBQ sauce on this), sardines with tapatio hot sauce on chicharrones (fried pork skin) I like the Mission brand. NY Steak fried in butter. Ground beef patties fried in butter with a slice of cheese on top.

@@STEVEID1946 I live in Germany, so prices obviously can vary depending where you live. When the ground beef is on sale I can get it for about 6,60€-7,60€ per 1kg, depending on which supermarket the discount is in. I have two supermarkets close by that regularly have it on sales, sometimes in 400g, 500g or 1kg package. Personally though I cannot make too much of a win long time time because we only have a tiny apartment and no freezer. So I can't store anything. So I gotta buy and eat the meat soon.

@@JulieK89occasionally ground beef will go on sale for $2/lb or about $4.25 kg ..... usually we are paying $3.5 - $5.99 lb or about $7.25 - $12.50 kg Basically its expensive and the best way to get cheap meat is to buy half of a cow and have butcher chop it up.... but then you need big storage solution. Let's clarify on the egg bit for those who don't know. The outside shell of the egg doesn't have anything to do with how it was raised. That is dependent upon the breed of chicken. You can get white pasture raised eggs.

I'm not claiming that you are wrong but I have been buying pasture raised eggs for over a year now and go through about 2-3 dozen every week and have NEVER seen a white egg as of yet, they are either light or dark brown, tan or bluish green in color.
@BookZealots
@BookZealots 9 ай бұрын
@@shawnlewis1918 Chicken breed determines the color of the egg. Most people think the brown, tan/cream or "easter" eggs mean free range. Kind of like how a lot of people think eating the yolk of an egg is eating the unborn chick. (obviously not true). I free range my chickens and my breeds lay cream/brown eggs. Even the girls/hens in the same breed can have different colors and sizes. If I owned...let's say a Hamburg Bantam, she would lay white eggs. But she would still be free ranged. Unless you know for a fact the hens are fully free ranged, assume they're not. The industry charges more for saying they are. The best way to tell if the hens are free ranged is the color of the yoke. If you're getting a beautiful dark orange yolk, then you've hit the jack pot. But even my girls don't always lay eggs with that color yolk. Obviously in the winter time the color pales. (less bugs). Just thought I'd share.
@shawnlewis1918
@shawnlewis1918 9 ай бұрын
@@BookZealots I already understand that the chicken breed determines the egg color, my only point was that the pasture raised eggs I have purchased for a while from Vital Farms have only been tan, brown and that bluish green color.

@@cinqueqwerty You do not have to eat free range eggs if you cannot afford them. Many carnivores eat the cheapest cuts of meat and cheapest eggs; Kathy Hogan ate almost entirely McDonald's hamburger patties her first many years as a carnivore. Stick to animal products, and buy what you can afford.

Same. As a family of soon to be 5, buying pasture eggs is starting to become costly. We buy vital farms because that’s the only pasture eggs we can come across that are of good quality, but those are like $8 a dozen. And I typically eat like 4 eggs a day, not counting other members in my family who also eat eggs. So, spending almost $50 a week on eggs adds up. If it were just my husband and I, of course cost difference would be different and we could afford higher quality foods, but with growing kids involved and making sure they are offered quality food as well it’s just not feasible. Organic will have to do for now until inflation lays up. I found also that conventional ground meat is much fattier than Grassfed, even though Grassfed is more nutritious, conventional beats Grassfed in fat content which can help prevent us trying to obtain more fat through tallow or butter, which also cost ALOT. Otherwise, love Bella’s content and how educational they are, but I also wish she could do videos of carnivore on a friendly budget for families.

Recipes for ground beef would be great. Also, the recipe for egg pudding. The brotha one buys in the store are usually "low fat". They removed the healthiest part! Any time you review something you eat, the recipe or how you prepare it, is great for relatively (2 yr) carnivores. This is a great video.

54 yrs ago, my first large purchase in order to establish credit was a set of Stainless cookware. I still have it and use. But the double boiler was rarely used and I was about to start charging rent for taking up cabineylt space. Thanks to SBG and your mom's Egg Pudding. I have eliminated all guilt from my life related to the non use of the famed double boiler. It was perfect for my first, but not last egg pudding! I made mine with some delicious Tonkatsu broth and did 5 eggs, 3 being yolk only. It steamed up in 11 minutes, next time will try 10 minutes since the steamer pan is wide and flat so it cooked faster. It was so delicious!! I enjoyed mine w/a splash of Tamari and Sesame oil. Thanks for sharing this simple, comforting bowl of deliciousness. Do I have to share this with my husband? 😂

Sorry to tell you that the shell color is not because of them being pasture-raised! The chicken is responsible for the shell color one that lays brown eggs will always lay brown eggs, and one that lays white eggs will lay white eggs. The reason that you mostly see white eggs in the store is that smaller chickens lay white eggs and require less feed than the larger breeds that lay brown eggs! So the color of the egg doesn't matter only how the chickens were raised and what they were fed!

I love all the ideas she gives us, but for many of us, most of the ideas (food-wise, kitchen tools/machines) are just too expensive for us to buy--such as the butter, grass-fed beef, snack foods like Carnivore Crisps, etc. I wish I could afford all the highest quality foods, especially, that she does, but not on our retirement social security budget. :) But at 68, I did start carnivore 3 weeks ago, and just do the best I can with what meat, etc. I can buy. Chuck steak. Salt, pepper, powdered garlic. Put it in the oven for the lowest temperature between 15 to 25 minutes depending on thickness, heat the cast iron skillet 5 minutes prior to taking the meat out. Put butter in the skillet and sear every side for two minutes, let it rest for seven in foil. You could put thyme and rosemary in with the butter if you really want, but pouring butter on the steaks is good in and of itself. I eat 1.3 pounds a day of chuck, I eat 6 eggs as well throughout the day. Been like this for a few months now.

I stopped doing carnivore after about 3 weeks. Didn't need to do it, but wanted to see how my body responded. I wasn't in need of any detox or anything, but I found towards the end of the 3 weeks, I simply lost my appetite to eat - it simply wasn't appealing to just eat meat. Had no desire to eat - it started becoming a chore, not something enjoyed. My energy became flat - not in a bad way, but more steady. Not fatigued, but not motivated to do anything much either. I returned to including small amounts of carbs and even sugars - smaller amounts of choice veggies/fruits and even grains. I feel much better that way - although meat is still the main focus and more enjoyable to eat as well.

I started this as an elimination diet due to food intolerance, abdominal and chest pain, gall stones, and IBS. I felt like my insides were rotting and falling out. After starting this diet, it took about 2 months and my stomach feels normal for the first time in 30 years. I don't feel like I have a tightly inflated balloon trying to carve it's way out of me. I recently started feeling sick after eating meat and came to realize that the meats I was getting from my local grocer (who's name rhymes with shmoger) was making me and my whole family sick. It was all of the meat, including the fish. I started shopping at my local butcher (that supports local farmers) and what a difference! I can actually eat the fat even without a gall bladder (which I was told I couldn't do). Also, the pasture raised eggs from Aldi are cheaper and very good quality (at least until I can find a local supplier). I also heard that Celtic salt is very good. I will have to try it.

White eggs are just the type of chicken as are brown, cream, blue, and green, nothing to do with quality. I also make my own bone broth. So much better than store bought. I use an instant pot, but my bones do not disintegrate. So not sure how your friend does that. It does however get all the nutrients from the bones. Nicely done. Lots of informative. Great video, a small point you may want to change is the pasture raised egg color. Store bought pasture raised are usually brown, but the color does mean anything as it relates to nutrition. You can have white, blue or green eggs that are pasture raised and will have all the same benefits as any other color. There is a perception that brown eggs are healthier, brown eggs are actually white eggs with a color coating. There are only 2 true colors of eggs, white and blue. You can see this inside the shell after opening, the inside is the true egg shell color.

A problem with bone broth is the oxalate pathway which can cause problems with ones kidneys. Seriously. I had to stop using bone broth regularly (not very rarely) after about 9 months of monthly consumption, variously, due to kidney sensitivity directly related to the days I consumed bone broth. I find truly raw cheese (or a little of nearly so as 'unpasteurize', though substantially heated). Dairy works great for me,… mainly as a cheese, a little as kefir, and rarely fresh milk,… nearly all raw except with rare exception.
