Women have operated this way, too. It's called matriarchy. Patriarchy on the other hand is poison. Book recommendation : mysteries of the dark moon by demetra George. This makes me cry women have lost touch with their true nature and think cats know more... remember who you are ladies.

Knowing cats' logic, I'm pretty sure they realize that they are both vulnerable because they both have to take care of their babies at the same time. The smartest thing to do is just to let one take care of all the babies while the other protects the territory and the nursing one.

Its really strong in felines and other mammals. I think there are odd outliers in other groups that do it, arguably colonoy insects, bjt that feels too much like an assembly line. Community parenting as opposed to 2, 1 or none in most other animals is really beneficial in passing down experience and techniques and in terms of protecting young.

It also shows in canines, specifically wolves! when the mated pair("alphas", though that is an innacurate term. Never use that pls) gives their yearlings(one year olds that are old enough to start learning how to be a wolf) parenting experience before they disperse to find their own mates by leaving them with the current season's litter of pups while they hunt for their pack. A lot of social animals have some sort of communal daycare thing going on, actually. African wild dogs, hyenas, wolves, lions and elephants are only a few of many off the top of my head. EDIT CAUSE I THOUGHT MORE ABOUT WOLVES AND I REALLY LIKE WOLVES SO ILL DUMP THIS HERE: The wolf thing i mentioned earlier, i should have said, includes both male and female yearlings. Though males sometimes are quicker to disperse than females on average, it is not a norm or even expected of the pups until after 2 years, some even never leave their birth pack as well and serve their pack as subordinate wolves, they usually hunt alongside the mated pair or are left at the den to serve as a lookout for predators and rival wolf packs. The message here is that sometimes in life people tell you how you should be and its just a box that will never fit for you. Be who you need to be for your sake. You don't have to get married or have a family or even move out of the house to be happy.

It’s called “allomothering” - this is when multiple members of a group help to care for an infant and this behaviour can be observed in lots of animals including cats, elephants, rats, and also us humans too. The females are at the head of the colony and they tend to help look after each other’s kittens while they go off hunting and such.

The kittens and mama cats are adorable. I found the humans though quite ignorant. A quick google search or an actual book would have told the humans that cats will help one another out often when it comes to having babies at the same time; but the two women don't look like they know any words above 3 or 4 letters long so it's really no surprise that they wouldn't get it. I found them beyond ignorant at this. It's like - if the orange cat is moving the kittens, there is a reason. Stop moving them back to 'help' causes both mamas stress. Ignorance annoys me and the two were the epitome of it.

@@shirosatsuma4946 Wow, that's a totally unnecessary and judgmental assumption you're making there. 🤔 I NEVER SAID they "think like humans". YOU SAID "They're cats. They don't 'think'. They just do what their instincts tell them to do." (Just as a side note, I'm 69, and I haven't watched cartoons since my grown children were young. Unless you count watching the morons in government destroying our country right now! 😂) Since you said, they're cats. They don't "think", I simply asked the question "How do YOU KNOW they don't 'think'?" 🤷🏼‍♀️ And apparently, you DON'T know that, because as you will see stated in just this ONE article here, about cat research (of MANY) cats are a lot smarter than you give them credit: "Cats have highly developed and complex brains, which means THEY ARE CAPABLE OF COMPLEX PROBLEM-SOLVING AS WELL AS THINKING. Domestic cats still have many of the same instincts and traits as their wild ancestors, and they exhibit some complex and fascinating behaviors. And there’s plenty of science to back it all up." See for yourself: cats.com/what-do-cats-think-about 🐾🐾

@@handles_are_dumb_01 Yes the behavior stays quite similar over all the whole feline line. There are big differences in some areas but overall behavior the same. And when forced together in zoo's naturally lonner cats normally get along well. Based on seeing Mother cat with my family when I was small have all of two litters one day unable to stand each other and scater to various places in the house I believe most of the scattering happens then in cats. Late 60's early 70's not recent we know better now. But some big cats break pattern and stay together as pairs in some cases even for the loner variety.
