I had JUST gotten in to his channel, I wanna say a few months after she had passed. The videos are recommended to me by KZbin totally out of order, and seeing how he talks about her all the time, then see how he mentions her sometimes in past tense now is really heart breaking :( I'm really glad to see you hanging in there Steve. I want to let you know, watching your videos has also in turn helped me cope with loss, and I really do mean that. Thank you for posting your adventures online, these videos honestly really help.

That's my usual practice - take a trash bag with me and pack out anything I find. It really isn't a big deal, isn't hard. Many trails have a trash can at the trail head, it's not like you're taking someone else's trash home. Leave it better than you found it.

It literally warmed my heart to hear the shout out to Stobe! I am one of the many who sadly discovered Stobe after his passing. I'd already been binge watching his videos for a few weeks before I discovered what had happened. He was one of those genuinely nice guys, who made modest but such highly interesting videos, with a personality that I found so relatable that he was like a friend! I love that Steve here keeps Stobe immortalised as a KZbin legend! Thanks Steve - from another Steve in Ireland.

When youtube started recommending "bushcraft" outdoorsy channels, they gave me all the traditional silent sullen gloom and doom "end of the world" type channels which got very depressing after a while. I prefer your type of mindset Steve, you have a grasp of the wider world but you stay cheerful, appreciative and hopeful, we all need hope. There is a lot to be hopeful about. :)

For the last decade I've been a single father of two boys who are now more or less grown up. I still live with the younger one. Steve has inspired me to try many different recipes. So now when I'm asked what's for dinner, I say "Camping with Steve" - meaning something I picked up or adapted from some of Steve's videos. I've discussed with my sons that Steve's videos are a part of manhood which, I believe, is not encouraged. In Australia, we're in lock-down. But as soon as this is lifted, I'm heading bush for my mental health. Keep up the good work.

I was supposed to go camping here in Los Angeles National Forest tomorrow BUT there are Two raging wildfires on either side of where we were planning on. Still 100s of miles away in each directions but I called it off due to 100°F + temps and how fast these are spreading. Just a reminder to everyone check out the local info before heading out blindly. So I'm staying in the city poolside instead and teaching a 56 year old man how to swim. Step two after he learns how to tread water👍😎👍 Hunkering down by the pool is ok with me

Your in kamloops!! I grew up there. The views are so gorgeous aren't they😍Usually so smokey you can barely breathe and cant even see the mountains this time of year so you lucked out. It's hot and dry there. I live on the coast now and when I visit in the summer I complain alot lol like i can not believe we grew up in this heat with NO AC. The sun would go down and it would still be 30 degrees and the pavement would be hot still. But it is a beautiful little city. Watch for rattlers and black widows 🐍🕷...and junkies when your camping around urban areas there.

thought it looked somewhat familiar. i've camped in both railyards there in the '9os. favourite moment was setting up alongside the CP tracks just outside the yard for a snooze & to see a friend off on the freights when we woke. found a big, stuffed armchair in the trash & some milk crates & hauled it into the yard & loaded our friend into a boxcar with it all, a jumbo coffee & a box o' Timbits for the beginning of his return east. we walked back over to the CN yard & kept on to Vancouver but our friend ended up just getting shunted around the yard lots & had to abandon & get a different car out. good times anyway!

I completely understand how you feel about having to carry a backpack around. I live and work in the downtown area of San Antonio. I don't have a vehicle and I carry my laptop back and forth to work. I will go into various stores and the employee will tell me that I have to leave my backpack at the front door. The first thing I usually ask is --- if they are going to accept financial responsibility for the contents. I have learned that is a good deterrent in regard to having to leave my backpack at the front door/counter. If they say no, I generally continue on with my shopping.

I also noticed that I've been watching Steve's videos all the way through, just as I did with Stobe's. And like Stobe's, I've now seen every one of them uploaded to KZbin. There's a similarity of philosophy, I suppose. Steve's 'stealth camping' doesn't have the immediate (or eventual, hopefully!), risk of death, as did Stobe's. The worst that might ever happen is Steve gets caught one day. Big whoop. But I enjoy Steve's commentary, just as much. He does what he wants to do (as long as Beautiful Wife authorizes it, I imagine), other than that it's basically a 'no rules' kind of life. I just hope Steve doesn't burn himself out trying to impress his fans. I often wonder if that drove Stobe to continue riding the rails until one day, he got careless. Keep it fun, Steve!
