Hi! I agree that your kitchen will be great upon completion. A couple suggestions: invest in a trivet for those hot pans so you don't melt a surface or rug, devise a splatter screen to avoid soiling the window screen. Over time, that screen will absorb splattering grease, etc. Safe travels!

Van is looking awesome, if you're looking for last minute park ups try industrial estates. They may look grim but there's usually plenty HGVs overnight on the one where I work. So they must be pretty safe and the van won't look out of place.

Its coming along nicely. Love the stealth camping. An YES put up a map. Love to see all the places. I’d invest in a indoor shower for the van. Takes up a little space but beats those days where when you really need 1. An can’t find 1 near by. You should defiantly put a map book together of all your travels.

In a pinch you can also use one of those 1/2 gallon or smaller hand held multi purpose sprayers. One I use on trips has the ability to be locked open. Allows me to sit it on the van or other flat surface and stand under the spray. If you can't find a super private place you can just wear some swimming trunks. Though, with a van as big as yours you could probably open the back doors and put shower curtains up and stuff. Nothing beats a nice warm indoor shower though if you can find one.

Hey Will greetings from Australia, I love watching your blog. As a van owner without a shower, I have found a small plastic wash up basin that you can stand in works very well as a makeshift easy shower/apc , use a hand towel, boil a kettle of hot and around a kettle of cold water, put the water in your basin a bit of soap, stand in the basin and with the wet towel clean yourself. It works very well, very little spillage and uses bugger all water cheers mate Cal.

I have Van/Boat lived in NZ for about 15 years. Tip for absolute basic body clean every 48 hours. Heat up van and get hot water by heating up kettle with cooker. inside closed van. Have two small buckets ready. One with cold water and one with warm water by using exactly half of your hot water and mixing with the cold. OK you now have two buckets of water in front of you. Dip the hand towel in the warm water and start rubbing your body. Clean the slightly dirty hand towel in the COLD water bucket. Wring out the hand towel. Now draw up some more warm water and clean another part of your body. Keep repeating until you suck up all the warm water.
@youthoughtitwasbadbefore6134
@youthoughtitwasbadbefore6134 2 жыл бұрын
(Sorry had to break into two parts) Now use the other half of you hot water to make up another warm bucket and now you can freely wipe yourself down without having to rinse the handtowel to clean it. Really invigorating.. By the way this is a soap-less wash but you sure get clean. Scrubbed clean so to speak.

The trouble with stealth vans is really poor ventilation. On mine, I've got a similar cooker and I'm sure I've come close to Carbon Monoxide poisoning. Its because Carbon Monoxide doesn't float up or drop to the floor really, its just builds up in the air around you in the van until, you just go to sleep :-(

Something no one touches on…..finding good park ups is easy, finding good park ups with a phone signal is something else, do you sacrifice the internet for a good park up or do you sacrifice a good park up for a decent signal? I always go for a strong signal because when the blinds are shut you could be anywhere.

I dont have any trouble sleeping with traffic noises, Ive lived on several busy roads and drove big trucks for many years so truck stops are like home. I totally get leaving a place that vibs wrong, Ive never disregarded my spidey sense or the late misses. You may want to look into air bags that can be individually adjusted and mount a couple level bubbles near the drivers seat, they are a fair treat easier to use than blocks and are much more discreet.. Instead of a total rebuild of the table maybe try a leg that slips in the handle..

I am in isolation in a shed at the moment so I bought a Companion Camp shower. It is rechargeable via usb or car lighter thingy and is a small pump that you submerge in a bucket of water with a hose and a couple of shower attachments, hook etc. Haven't used it yet but I'm hoping its as good as the demos I've watched on youtube. If it works it could be a good vanlife emergency shower if you were unable to find a place to have a scrub in a timely manner haha. (it packs up small) I paid $80 bucks Australian for mine online (including postage) so that's about $43ish pounds.

If it’s a leisure centre you don’t need access to the gym. Just pay for swimming and use the dry change instead of the wet change. Although my local leisure centre has no barrier to entry, so in theory you could just walk in and use the dry change rooms without paying for an activity.

Join a pure gym or a gym group for around £20 a month u can use any gym in the uk and there’s always one in nearly every town. Can also cancel at any time, sorts the problem of showering when out in van and is cheaper than paying for day passes

I stealth camped Spain and France in a Ford Transit for 18 months. Only evidence of camping outside the vehicle was a couple of solar panels on the roof. Interior completely 'blacked out' at night. Not a single 'knock' in 18 months ;-)

A small paddling pool and skoosher or portable shower 🚿 does a great job.

You could always park around sefton park, in liverpool, by the palm House end is very quiet. Campers park about the park all the time.

BETTER - do one time showers. Usually about £2.50. I'm in Birmingham on Tuesday at the motorhome, camping and caravan show which will hopefully be inspiring :-)

Everyone is different but I know the feeling of how it feels great to have a shower after a few days and feel fresh and clean that's why having a shower in my van is top priority.

Personally, I found van lifers to have a weird inverse snobbery about how "customised and cool" your van is when I owned a motorhome. Glad to see you're making it work buddy, it was too tough for me to do in the UK but I think the community should embrace everyone irrespective of what they're living in.
