Try East Anglia - Ipswich, Woodbridge, or Felixstowe area for a stealth camp sometime. Bonus points if you do it at the old air base that used to be there (rumor has it a UFO landed there in the early 80's)

Stealth camping! I had a feeling the other day that I recognised you from somewhere and couldn't place it. I've since remembered. During the start of the pandemic I was working in a care home. Experienced some of the lowest mental health states I'd been in for a long time. Reminding residents with dementia, why their families couldn't visit over and over (they knew their families weren't visiting as frequently, but would often forget about the virus and lockdown.) was brutal and hit hard. It was around that time I got into stealth camping videos. You were one of the first people I started watching. It gave me a brief, vicarious sense of freedom, it helped me escape. It had a direct impact on the state of mind I was in at the time, for the better. Might seem silly, but I owe you a big thank you dude! ✌️🙏

Turn the ignition on so all the dashboard lights up but don’t actually start the van, make sure all the doors are shut, press the lock and unlock button a few times and the key might re-sync itself. Happens in my Citroen and works every time so hopefully it works for you 👍🏻

The problem is perhaps he has the spare key ( non remote ) on the same key chain ( looked like in the video ) , because they use a *transponder/proximity* immobilser setup , it might be trying to read both keys and doesnt know what to do therefore dropping one out of sync ?.

I got to say Willie Boy, you are one of the only vanlifers that actually keep a tidy and clean van. Props to you! Keeping things neat, tidy, and organized actually makes living in such a small place enjoyable and stress free. Some of these vanlifers might as well sleep and eat in a trash dumpster with the way they keep their van. No wonder they have trouble with mice and insects. I like the way you take pride in keeping up standards. Sending greetings from New Kent, Virginia, USA, and stay safe on your travels.

They're pretty limited in Europe for sleeper size. But here in the USA we have tractor trailers with sleeper sizes all the way from a coffinbox size of 36" all the way to 210" and even bigger. I drove Tractor trailers from 1988 to 2009 when I was forced to retire. And I had sleepers from 48" all the way to 190" and the 190" had everything a house had including a toilet and shower. The only reason I had to go to a truck stop was for fuel. I had everything else I needed with me. Love the vlogs and your van is looking spot on!!

Random tip , if making a bolognaise, you can use dried egg noodles instead (the thick ones not thin), like Sharwoods. Makes easy for storage and cooks a lot quicker than pasta , like 4 minutes, cause it’s an egg noodle and pasta usually has egg (well fresh does anyway) then cause of the sauce you don’t notice too much of a difference but much easier for storage and cook time. Great video as always

Glad you seem happier. Living in a van isn't the end game in my view. It just provides cheap accommodation to allow you to do what you want to do. It's like renovating a flat, and then just sitting in it all day. Just being in a van, for the sake of it isn't living. I'm sure you find your purpose again, the van will become more of a joy, enabling you to pick the parts of van life you like, and the parts of 'real life' you like, and mix the two. That's what I found anyways. Nice vid.

Regarding the book The Secret, I read back in 2014, I figured why not, at the very least, even if my dreams don't all come true, I'll at least feel better; and simply put, I do. It taught me to be more conscious of my thoughts, to not immediately react negatively towards ppl & situations, and it made me realize I have control over my emotions and how I feel day to day. I put these ideas into practice, more positive self-talk and thoughts, eliminating negative emotions and responses to things, and controlling my emotions. I can't honestly say my life got wildly better after I read The Secret, but I can tell you for sure that my mental state is a lot better. I'm happier and I've learned to be grateful for what I have, and not dwell on what I don't have.

...You can buy a device to program your key to your vehicle. I was looking into it for my wife's car because she breaks them by turning to hard in the ignition repeatedly. IIRC it was about $100. Or you can use a service for much cheaper. Sounds like you went to a dealership, which rake you over the coals for that stuff. Worth you looking into. Even if you have to spend the 3-5 minutes once a month, is better than not having working buttons, or the repeat expenses. :) Your home is looking beautiful. Would gladly live in that and tour the world. You finally got where you were meant to be. Good job, bruh.

on the key fob, you didn't mention anything about the battery, but i figure that was the first thing you tried. Another reason can be that your wifi internet device interferes with the fob's signal, once the battery level drops on the fob (you can power that off and try it, to eliminate this possibility). Also, some cars that are parked on a non-level terrain also are programed to not respond to the lock/unlock signal. Another reason can be the locking system fuse in the fuse panel fries. On a non related note, your spirits have lifted at least on camera, congrats.

Not had any experience with Ducatto key fobs, but changing the battery inside might do the trick? It might just be the shop where you got them from is carrying old stock and the batteries might be reaching the end of their shelf life? ...its worth a try at least?

Re the key fob. I would reduce the number of keys attached. Just have the van keys on it. Just the weight of all those other keys will put a strain on the ignition barrel and perhaps interfere with the immobiliser signal!

I like the video and the way it was done. Your videos are great, because you show the reality, not as some do make it look so easy. Your stealth camping videos are my favorites, along with the ones you did when you were building Mary..

When my car key used to disconnect from the car I used to stick it in the ignition turn it to the second or third position then click the lock button and it would reconnect it and start it working again. Worth a try?!?

I had the remote locking problem on my Vauxhall. Turns out i was using cheap/fake batteries. I bought some Agfa ones from a supermarket and never had the issue again. If you are using batteries from ebay or amazon then definatly buy a well known brand from the high street.
