The Kaluga shares some resemblance to the very real Gangut class battleship, a ship that had 4 turrets spread in between the superstructure (2 at bow and stern, one between the funnel and front tower and one between the funnel and rear tower), the design meant the only way for a full salvo to be achieved was by going broadside to the enemy, the Russian BB struggle is real i guess

with this being the Russian campaign, that bow only fitting 1 turret, and triple turrets, my mind immediately thought of the Gangut BBs as well

Not only that but hull is based of Brodino class battlecruiser. Never completed but the design is very similar to this one, both sporting 4x triple 14" guns and similar speed.

the ganguts actually had better forward and rear fire arcs then the early british dreadnoughts since the smoke hoods interfered with superfiring guns within around a 30 degree slice directly ahead. I feel like making superfiring separate from superimposed would be a neat addition for a future patch.

New stratagem. After you take French eastern holdings. Make peace, improve relations with everyone, make money by reducing naval size focus on tech and transports. Then rebuild the navy.

If the ports for 2 different area are close enough together you can invade both with the same fleet, as long as the 2 area circles overlap somewhere you can sit your fleet the full amount of tonnage applies to both areas allowing for quick and effective blitz tactics in areas like Cochinchina and Annam to be taken simultaneously with the 1 fleet. Only offset of a couple of turns due to the political action cooldown but means you don't need to wait until the first area is captured before starting the next, rather start it while you wait.

I tend to put wing turrets on the Kaluga hull, they get great firing archs. But it is kind of a workaround for a questionnable hull.

The loss of Chesma is a hard one, but hopefully her sisters can be refitted and ready for the new age of naval warfare. Same with the new Kaluga class battle barges, hopefully they prove their worth to this new Russian Navy that desperately needs new better ships immediately.

Hey Stealth, can you tell me why you never change the citadel armor? Is it that there's no reason to add citadel armor if you haven't already maxed out the main armor or what?

19:00 The "Wide Barbette (Very Small)" can fit some impressively large guns on it, up to 13" iirc but you should test it with larger too. It's not tall enough to make it so that larger turrets can necessarily shoot over each other but for 11" guns it works very well.

I built a bc with a quad 17 front turret and stern has 2 dual 12 if i recall IF the 17 hits everything has a bad day lol

I always wondered what would happen if you took a DD hull and sized it up... Seems like you found the obesest DD out there and morphed it into a Battlecruiser :D

there's limits to the max tonnage of each ship hull type but increasing width and draft can kinda circumvent that, so Projekt Chonk DD is possible...if questionable

You could have overdone it with guns on your BC, because the hull might struggle with the gun recoil due to to much firepower. Sadly you never know if this will be a problem when you are designing a ship..

Once your at peace with everyone, you should sell off all your ships, and build a modern fleet. That way you don't have ships taking up dock space for a decade old refit, and having ships out of commission longer than necessary.

I miss the times when you could armor a BC up like a BB. They severely restricted the max armor thickness on BCs :(

Die past op zich bij 1850-1940, maar "Koeang Tjo Wan" is echt niet hoe dat klinkt. 😆 Als je de zuidelijke uitspraak daarvan wilt is het meer "Guang Djooo Wan" waarbij je de middelste klank dieper maakt. Zoals 'dam' in Amsterdam.

Instead of spending time and money on cruisers that do not work, is it not better to mothball them and build new cruisers? That way you can pull out the old ones in a crisis, and have active cruisers that work, or at least work better than the old ones.
