It's a weird thing to comment, but I just wanted to say this video gave me such nostalgic memories of watching Cybernet in the early 2000's in some weird cable channel that only showed it around midnight here in Finland. Something about your voice and the snappy editing really took me back to my childhood. Thank you for that, and thanks for the informative video! You can actually get Croc Definitive Edition which includes widescreen, fixes lighting issues while also enhancing the lighting, and has analog controller support. It also makes Croc a native Linux game.

Fun fact: this was the first time I've played the PS1 version of Croc and I was kind of surprised that it felt a little slower than I remember the original PC version being

@@DrearyMiddle Ah, my bad, I thought you said the PS1 version was being emulated (so I assumed DuckStation with Widescreen hack), and then showed the original PC version after. I got that all mixed up. I actually went through the whole game on my SteamDeck for my first time a few days ago after owning Croc since '97, and wow the second half was brutal at points to get 100%.

Thanks! I'm afraid to say that no modulator was used however. I do have to do a bit of tweaking to remove background noise as I live next to a busy road which I guess could introduce some oddness to the sound. Either that or, as another comment stated, I actually am a robot, in which case I'm off to have an existential crisis!

@@DrearyMiddle You can set them in a trackball mode so they have some inertia sort of like spinning the ball... the movements and control is extremely similar, but not completely identical, to a thumb trackball.

My issue with the steam deck is the weight, I layed down and found that my wrist ached a bit. This an easy fix since it connect to Bluetooth smoothly but just an issue I came to

The back buttons are a little too stiff to use comfortably imo. Works for an input you won't use a lot of the time but if you want to use it for a sprint button good luck

There was someone else in the comments who said that they are using this as their only computer, but of course it is a handheld device, and if you are used to PS5 level graphics this will definitely be a step down. However, for pure convenience it's awesome and I can see it being a secondary console much in the same way people treated the Switch

I'm afraid to say that I actually don't have any experience with using power banks. I travel a lot by train and where I live the trains have power sockets between the seats. So I guess unofficially my power bank is a Hitachi AT300, great at charging but it's a little bulky and they cost a fortune

That is Virtua Racing: www.nintendo.co.uk/-1584823.html It’s a SEGA arcade game from 1992 which got a very good port to the Switch a couple of years ago with some rather nice quality of life upgrades. Highly recommended if you like games like Outrun or After Burner

i found a verified game thats kinda not working great. when i launched lego movie game 1 its in 4:3 but maybe thats normal for the steam version, haven't played it on pc yet

I'm afraid to say that I don't have any first hand experience with that game but I can see that it has a fairly good rating on ProtonDB: www.protondb.com/app/267530 It might be worth just delving into the settings real quick to see if something in there might fix that

Too much to play on low with poor battery life. It is in a strange place where you might want a more powerfull console with dvd/bluray for the same price. Lower battery life for slightly better performance than a switch. Cost too much where you could go for a nice pc instead. There is a fanbase for it, but I'm not sure it's the "game changer" some think it is. (better than stadia at least)

Yeah that’s fair. But I think it’s important to mention that a lot of us that have been PC gamers for a long time have found ourselves in the position where we own games that we might not want to spend a lot of time at home sitting down and playing. Stuff like long RPGs or strategy games. So having a device where we can take those games and play them on the go without having to rebuy them on another system is great. I initially bought a Switch so that I could play games on my commutes, but then the pandemic happened. As for the battery life, the types of games I play has put it not that far behind my Switch. Easily gets me through a journey to work and back and that’s enough for me, I imagine pushing everything to the max would hit the battery hard for sure. And of course, huge shout out to the controller too, say what you will about the Switch, the joy cons are awkward, that’s why I bought a pro controller which is a great controller in it’s own right. But I wouldn’t call the Steam Deck a game changer in the same way I wouldn’t call the Switch one, been playing games on my iPod touch since 2009, that’s how I played Earthbound for the first time lmao

Yeah I'm not sure why they're not expanding it yet, hopefully now they're opening it up to having no reservations it'll make its way to new countries soon!
