If you think that trackpads are useless, try to play Fallout, Red Alert, Witcher 1 or from newer games Pillars of Eternity 2 using controller only and let ne know how it goes. I am using trackpad with like 50 percent of games in my library and I cant imagine desktop mode without it.

@johnhorak200010 ай бұрын
@@douglasmurdoch7247 depends what you play, yeah for racing games and 3rd person shooters, no need, for old isometric RPGs and strategies, it is necessary. I also can't imagine playing something like Deus Ex (original) or using Yuzu emulator for example where you need to utilize mouse cursor in menu. Any handheld without trackpad is most probably pass for me. Valve did a great job with this.

Once you know how to configure them, they can be far superior to conventional stick control for first-person and twin-stick shooters. My channel has many videos showing how to set it up. I know that sounds like a plug, but it's absolutely relevant here :)

The LCB to OLED version of the Steam Deck(SD) was a big jump imo. Whenever you consider the improvements/upgrades from before and after the OLED model. The OLED is the 1.5 SD and I can’t wait for the 2.0 SD! The improvements and better hardware, that’ll come along with the 2.0 SD are not going to disappoint!

Honestly, the anti-glare vs glossy debate is pure preference. Just wished valve gave us options for either capacity. Got the 512 for the glossy, will get a 2TB drive down the road. My desire to get either a Go or Ally went out the window when I saw the OLED. Screen and Battery sold me to it.

Trackpad is one of the most useful hidden feature of the steam deck that not many know of. Try searching on how it set-up and work, you'll wonder why no handhelds also do it is a huge L for them.

I do like the trackpad for desktop mode, but I actually should have mentioned what bugs me more is that the left trackpad for scrolling is so wonky and inconsistent. Sometimes is natural scrolling sometimes it’s not. But it comes down to…. I’m rarely on desktop mode so two big trackpads for an occasional nice to have doesn’t really make it worthwhile at least for me! Thanks for watching! 😊

I run moonlight on my deck and sunshine on my gaming PC. When I'm at home or have a decent mobile internet connection i can get 10-11hours of gameplay per session. If internet isnt an option I can still play natively. HDR looks so good in Elden Ring especially the fire effects.

Ive been researching all three hand helds and managed to hold the Rog Ally and I didn’t like the right thumb positioning. The left was fine, but my right thumb was cramped inward in an awkward positioning. I think the steam deck looks like my only option then! It’s a shame all the windows based handhelds adopt the same positioning.

It’s a shame that valve dropped the ball on the OLED the deck was extremely under powered when the lcd model released to do a refresh of the line and barely update the internals makes it a joke at this point.
@peacelove839510 ай бұрын
Lol @ "dropped the ball" They purposely kept the internals the same to ensure all developers have a universal base performance level to target which removes the biggest issue for PC gaming which is defragmentation. This translates to the most important thing above all else which is a consistent user experience. The Steam Deck is absolutely perfect for the overwhelming majority who bought it as many of us use it to clear out our Steam Back logs that include games 5 to 10 years old and older. Valve have more data and more insight into the desired usage patterns than someone behind a computer screen.
@ScatteredBrain10 ай бұрын
Even though there are chipsets in windows handhelds that are outperforming Steam Deck number-wise, I’m finding Steam Deck is still more consistent. Yes I’m giving up some “raw power” but to not have to tweak my settings for 30 minutes with a frame counter on Steam Deck does just mean I can focus on gaming! Thanks for watching!
@agentfletcher10 ай бұрын
@@peacelove8395 Steam Deck verified, playable, etc. is 24 fps at the lowest settings which has changed from 30 fps recently this is because new best selling games would not qualify as playable. They can lower this as much as they want and they will. It’s silly to use old hardware that can’t handle even moderately graphical intense just so they can inflate the number of playable games which in reality aren’t playable by just about anyone’s standards but it bumps the number up on the selling points. Not to mention just about every single online game that is somewhat competitive is broken on the deck you can blame whoever you want but a handheld gaming pc should never be released until the people can play popular games that everyone wants to play. It’s great for simple indie, rogue like and card games but so is the switch and cell phones that everyone has.
