Price dictates all here. If its right in between a RoG ally and a steamdeck it will be ok. If it tries to go to Lenovo Go pricing with all its current drawbacks, this thing will fail miserably. The GO only works at its price point because its the only USB4 handheld, the huge battery, Huge screen and the 144hz display. It went all in. If MSI thinks this stripped down thing can be 600-800 bucks then good luck.
@Scatner
@Scatner 4 ай бұрын
noway it will be between rog ally and deck. Only given 32 Gb RAm the price will start with 700$. To me the budget version will be somewhere between 750-850$. This intel cpu is kinda fresh ,and release somewhere in the end ot 2023. Which also adds some $ to the price. And I assume it also will have more buttery as rog ally has too much of free space inside which could be populated by more size battery. Given all of that i'm afraid the price might end up started from 800 or even 850$. Which made it kinda useless already. But we need to wait for the official announce to check the screen and battery. But i wouldn't count to much on it actually.

MSI Claw appears to suffer from the same hardware challenge that Legion Go & ROG Allay both have... Namely no trackpad, which I think is the true point of difference between the Deck and others. It essentially means that the deck doesn't need periphery's to run everything (although you can get them for it if you want).

This is a really good talk. Very informative and entertaining. Final Fantasy 13 is a divisive topic. I've always preferred a more linear experience in games and that's a big reason why this is one of the best games I've ever played. It also came down to where I was at in my life when I played it. Opinions are very subjective, and that's one thing you made very clear in this video. We each have our own personal experience going through things.

I remember tinkering with Clear Linux, which is an Intel maintained flavor and distribution of Linux on my old and insanely underpowered Intel NUC and being impressed with some of the initial, albeit slight, performance improvements I got playing mid spec PC games on it. I thought it would be cool if Intel turned their NUC series into handhelds and used Clear Linux as their base OS because of the micro code level tweaks and chip specific enhancements Intel implements into the distro. Sadly, it's only used mainly as a server Linux distro now.

Ooh, huge props for the FF13 appreciation! 13 is my favorite alongside 9, despite the flaws, but as the series went on, the sequels cleared up a lot of the rougher spots of the system. I believe that them coming back to 13 with fresher eyes would do a lot to shore up a lot of the issues to let it shine. Edit: For the Phawx in regards to FF13, despite 13 being called a tutorial for the first 20-50 hours, however long it takes to get to the open map for you, 13 actually is very against grinding and can be beaten with skill over direct time commitment. A lot of the optional stuff will be harder, but it's just that, optional. You can mainline the game well enough without needing to run into a loop.

My only problem with phones as gaming devices is that the usable screen is small for anything outside of Android games (which near all are gotcha or short indie games or are so outdated that they no longer work) Battery is no concern with my power bank and controller is ok with Kishi V1 (there are better controllers) but despite the better screen (1080p 120hz OLED) I prefer to use the Steam Deck (non OLED) just for that aspect ratio and 7 inch

If you need a gaming phone, just take one of the many out there with digital (or even real) shoulder buttons like the ASUS ROG phones, the Xiaomi Black shark, the Lenovo Legion Dual, the Iqoo phones, the Nubia Redmagic... Those will give you the best compromise being "real phones" more portable and also having great gaming compatibility. I'm often playing and streaming PUBG NEW State on my channel and it just works great and is a lot of fun on my ROG Phone 6D. And it having one of the newer Mediatek processor it even has a really great runtime compared to the Snapdragon processors.

If you are on a train or in a car you might be SOL but I feel like a lot of people use these in an environment where outlets are nearby. I had a PS Vita, and that's basically one of the few handheld devices that I have ever owned. PSP Phat, PSP Slim and PS Vita. I have a great deal of handhelds to choose from now, I have a decent computer (7900X & 6700 XT, 64GB RAM and unRaid OS), but when I plan to game I usually get stuck at watching videos on crunchyroll, netflix or youtube or posts on social media platforms when I sit by the computer, even when I plan to game I seem to end up not gaming. "/ I have a lot of small games and emulated games that I would like to play through, but at the stationary computer that rarely happen. "/ So I thought. Oh! Handheld, I'm going to get a Steam Deck. I don't perceive the others as as interesting, because VALVe made a handheld pc that basically has expanded steam controllers, using Linux with Steam Big Picture Mode. Yeah, even if it's outdated in regards to the competition, it's still the only one that I have perceived as interesting. I'm currently saving up my Steam Wallet amount in order to buy the Steam Deck 1TB OLED version. When I had a PS4, I would sit down and I would play, and I want that feeling again ever since my PS4 broke, I could have bought a new or a PS5, but I gave away my PS4 games to my sisters children, and starting anew, didn't feel like a smart plan when I have between 500-600 games for PC while about 100-200 for PS3-PS5. A computer seemed like the only option for me, and the better proton performs the bigger the chance VALVe will release a deck with even better hardware, I don't get it why they don't have their own Steam Machine for sale, they could have a rebranded NUC basically. ;P haha They could sell them in multiple tiers, I know I would, but It would perhaps become more of a 'monopoly' then it already is with it's superb service to the customers. ^^

Feels like lotta people are missing the point of getting these higher end handhelds. They are trying to do something that the deck doesn’t, trade that battery a few people seem to be so fond of even though your not gonna be walking around playing your games even with a handheld, so ur in most scenarios gonna still get the handheld experience while being plugged in, much different than a laptop but with close to equal power Having up to 2 hours only on indie and low quality games is why I’d look into one of those handhelds that don’t even cost as much as the old deck.. why even bother but ay if u get extra money to spend on something you get the deck, which at this point seems obsolete to me. IMO you should go cheaper deck like refurbished or even the oled refurb if u just want to be able to play some of the current (NOT FUTURE) high quality games( and not only emulated or indie or low quality games) or wait for something stronger than rog ally or legion go, cuz they at least seem to be on the right track. If I want a souped up game boy advance I’ll look at the deck if I don’t want to play old man/non gamer games I’ll look at anything stronger. I’m getting old but I can still enjoy new games just as much or usually more than indies or old or just bad quality games, not sure what all this weird stigma is about here

Valve is my favorite gaming company beating out the incredible Sony first party. Sony releasing their games on Steam doesn't hurt either. I have a 3090 desktop, 4080 laptop, and PS5 and I find myself playing the OLED Steam Deck the most. I don't say this to brag, but to say if you buy a OLED Steam Deck you're going to be experiencing the most impressive tech in gaming in my opinion. To play the same games as a desk top or laptop in the palm of your hands untethered is next level. It sounds like I'm a paid shill, but it really is that good and those Steam sales make me a super fanboy.

In regards to Intel MeteorLake, there is a reason why desktop SKUs were cancelled.... The efficiency above the 40watt point is not great. I know this is an older episode, but as I go through the Playlist, Me from the future has some I fo that should concern MSI Claw buyers.... Just don't, at this point. Again, there is a reason why OEMs and pc manufacturers are feeling jaded by Intel.... MSI made a bad decision and happens to be big enough to take this loss. Great Show Gents!

That Intel statement was so far off reality lol, Intel CPU/apu hold more than half of the desktop market and are optimized by 99% of game developers. To wrap the entire thing into one junk handheld cpu/apu argument is absurd especially considering how incredibly far Intel arc has come. These feel more and more misinformed and misleading each week

Power matters for PC handhelds because there is a power threshold requirement to play newer AAA games. Its less about 60fps vs 120fps, and more about 20fps vs 60fps. Despite how awesome the Steam Deck is, several AAA games have been released, that people would like to play on a handheld, that the Steam Deck isn't powerful enough to play. Any game with grinding is great for a handheld, while the major battles and plot points can be played on a big screen or Desktop. So when potential handheld buyers want more power, most are simply asking for modern AAA game compatibility. Prayers go out to Rich.

Graphical demanding games you play better on your home power pc. These kind of games will be never ideal to play on a handheld. Also not on the rog ally and not on the legion go. So Valve's way is totally right and that's why the steam deck is the most successful pc handheld. There just will be games like the microsoft flight simulator which you better play at home. But to put insane power into a handheld for the few graphical demanding games out there is not smart.

@@zzzzzap Even Ally hardware is dated when it comes to triple A titles. There are a lot of games where my gaming desktop is overkill and this is where a handheld is ideal. I agree with you for the more demanding games I want to play on more up to date hardware.

But you use a handheld when you CAN'T play on a powerful desktop or console. You seem to miss the point of a handheld altogether. The power of it dictates what games you can play. If I can play a AAA game at 40fps with VRR, I'm gaming on par with a PS5 or XSX. Ally users can play Starfield and grind. away, leaving the major battles and narrative plot points for their main rig. On the Steam Deck, you're just SOL.
@zzzzzap

@@conchobar No handheld can play ps5 games with high graphic settings and 60 fps. Otherwise it would be a ps5 and no handheld. So you miss the point of a handheld if you think it should be able to play all games. That won’t work. A handheld is for unplugged gaming and so there must be a compromise between battery life and power. And it will never play the games like a power pc. So its better to improve battery life, cause that’s more important than power on a handheld. Otherwise you don’t need a handheld if you are constantly plugged.
@conchobar
@conchobar 4 ай бұрын
Many PS5 games don't even play at High settings and 60fps, homie. But that's not the point. The point is to be able to continue playing the games that I play on my desktop rig when away from my desk or living room couch. This high settings 60fps stuff isn't relevant to the conversation. You pretend Steam Deck owners and KZbinrs weren't rejoicing the ability to play God of War and Elden Ring, on the go, at Low settings and 30fps just a year ago. Are you implying that handhelds should be limited to retro and indie gaming? Valve sure didn't create the Steam Deck with that in mind. Bro, stop the cap.

Isn't you saying there's no place for the MSI Claw also goal post moving? (I will explain) My main computer died. mid December. I've used the Deck as a desktop replacement until I just repaired the computer. Other than the 1 USB port bottleneck, the handheld (pre ordered original cheapest Steam Deck, with 1TB hard drive replacement) worked amazingly as a Desktop replacement for my needs (work and play). The 1 USB port was a bottleneck for my monitor setup though. So defiantly not getting another 1 port non pocketable handheld (for my personal goal post needs). But to my surprise, my useage went like this... Use as a desktop computer most of the day and night. Then bring it to bed and game for under half an hour. The Twitch stream I was watching before I would shut down my desk computer would just accompany to my teeth cleaning ritual some nights, which was very convenient and cozy. I really loved having this experience. If not for the 1 USB issue, I would probably stick with it instead of going back to my original desktop. So, with this MSI, and the "stupid power draw". This could work really well for the experience described. If plugged in, it was high power draw, high performance (which the cooling suggests), then when you take it off, it goes to low power draw. But heck, for my half hour of unplugged use a day, then it charges during the day while it's at my desk anyways, honestly a great plan. That being said, I have no interest in the MSI. I have used circle dpads people say were great, and I think they're trash. But also, I am one who has, for the past 8 years been saying I want more power efficiency, not less. My main desktop computer mentioned earlier is a laptop. I use it unplugged 1-2 times a year when I travel only. And though that may seem rediculous to some, to be in the same environment (other then periphrials) when I travel, is SUCH a godsend. I am freelance, which makes a laptop that is 98% of the time a desktop so well worth it for that 2% of the time. So just sharing usages for both a handheld and a laptop that don't align with other peoples needs. I don't care if my laptops have no battery even (though it's nice for a power outage, though I have a battery backup for the desktop setup anyways). They're still great for me even if they must be tethered. However, interesting (and probably true) perspective that Intel may just be throwing money at them for marketing. I agree with your comment about goal post moving being frustrating to engage in. But I don't think that goal post movers will just always move the goal post. Each individual will move the goal post to meet their needs. But collectively, it can feel like no one can make up their minds. But it's really that individuals just have their minds made up about where the post should be. And it can be frustrating where they don't see the use case of it being somewhere else.
