The locomotive change at Rickmansworth brought back pleasant memories of travelling from Aylesbury to Baker Street with mum and dad in the fifties.

I remember riding on the old slam-door stock back in 1957 between Baker Street and Preston Road. If I remember correctly, there was no direct bell communication from guard to driver and there were two wires along the platform at about roof height that the guard shorted out with the brass ferrule on his green flag to signal the driver. This was noticeable at Baker Street where the curvature of the dead-end platform (and maybe on others) meant that the driver couldn't see the guard's flag.

Good footage but some glaringly false sound overdubbing used for most of the steam locomotive shots. Better left undubbed.
