The video depicts a journey with the steam powered Furka Mountain Railroad in Switzerland over Furka pass. The train of three passenger cars is pulled by an HG 3/4 (#1 Furkahorn) cog wheel steam engine which was once running in Vietnam.
The Furka Mountain Railway is a largely volunteer operated heritage railway which operates a partially rack and pinion-line across the Furka Pass, between Realp in Uri and Oberwald in Valais. Culminating at 2,160 metres, it is a mountainous section of the Furka-Oberalp-Bahn that was abandoned. It has been gradually brought back into service and the entire line was completed in 2010. Maximum grade of the line is 11.7%.
Part 1 of the video shows the journey from Realp over Furka pass to Gletsch and finally Oberwald. Enjoy this exiting ride undertaken in August 2015 on a very sunny day.
