Note to self : tried this last night, not bad but lacks kick...missing is torch flower(which is hard to get), maybe steam with not only ginger but add few stalks of bashed lemongrass to the steaming. Also when serving with chopped chinese parsley and spring onions...maybe even when making the sauce add some toasted belchan and tamarind to it.

hi, did u marinate the raw fish with salt before steam it? or not necessary due to taucu is salty? entire video looks awesome👍
@nyonyacooking7 жыл бұрын
+Rocephine Unasyn it's not necessary, taucu is already salty. But generally, when you steam fishes, they shouldn't be marinated. You can also check out the other steamed fish recipe whereby a simple soy sauce gravy easily enhances the taste of the fish 😚 link is in the description box!

What fish would you recommend best for steaming? I'm currently in living in Europe. Thanks in advance!
@kenchi52696 жыл бұрын
JHJH007 you can steam any type of fish but I recommend a fish which is not fatty and doesn't have a super fishy smell. (Mackerel) is super fatty and fishy so use that as a reference point.
@JM-ww8vr4 жыл бұрын
I’m in Australia but I would recommend barramundi or snapper if they are available in your country.
@JM-ww8vr4 жыл бұрын
Kenneth Chiang Mackerels are not super fatty. Salmons and trouts are. Whether or not the fish are fatty, it’s all about personal preference though.

Hi Grace, I tried your marmite chicken the other day...it was delicious. I'm thinking of trying this out but just need to clarify one thing. Do you wash the taucu before cooking it or use it straight?
@nyonyacooking3 жыл бұрын
Hello Sham, thank you for trying out the recipe ;) Did you upload a food snap to your Nyonya Cooking profile too? Regarding taucu, I don't think you need to wash it since it was not mentioned here: www.nyonyacooking.com/recipes/steamed-fish-with-fermented-bean-paste~H1MEuwsDfcWQ
@shamjallaludin3 жыл бұрын
