Haven’t seen any other comments addressing this but the part of the chorus that says “we’re all told that work will give us life” is very similar to the famous slogan on the gates of Auschwitz “arbiet macht frei” which translates to “work will set you free” don’t know if that was intentional or not but it’s definitely a nice touch to an already amazing song

I was looking for someone to mention this- It wasn't just on Auschwitz, the sign was used as a sign on many camps, starting with the first one that the name of is escaping me at the moment.

It's always the philosophy of, well, capitalism as a whole. Find meaning in your work. Find wholeness in your work. Find completeness in your work. We're all family here. And stop complaining you little shit and be grateful that you even have a job. Do want to starve? Work gives life is basically just the mantra of slavemasters of all kinds, and Arbeit Macht Frei just took it to a whole new level /rant

I also noticed this, and I also thought that the line: "I can't give up right now or my life will turn to dust" may be a reference to the crematoria, and the ashes that people were unfortunately reduced to.
@bittyb0t10 ай бұрын
@@Opossumstewi like the symbolism you’re describing. my first thought was something along the lines of ‘ashes to ashes, dust to dust’. dust as in death. it is near impossible to live well or even at all in this economy without working. so basically you have to work to live, and live to work. there’s no way out except for returning to dust.

Super deep.. yet still, right on the surface.. I needed this song right now. I'm 31, and a part of my depression is the fact that I have to work my life away in a 9 to 5 job, plus overtime - "but hey, it's good money!" I hate that that is what life is all about: money money money. It brings me down so much. Even still, it'd help if I could work for myself and not have to work for big business anymore. I wish I could just live in the woods somewhere and live off the land, though their are struggles there too, I know it's make me feel more ALIVE. Anyway, love your stuff and I have loved it for a very long time! Thanks for being an amazing creater. 💕

Hey, I hope that life is treating you well so far! There's a lot of ickiness in this world, and much of work culture and corporations can be absolutely awful in so many ways, unfortunately, but there *is* good that comes with adulthood, and the world is changing for the better in so many ways, even if that good isn't properly represented in the media. There are more ethical workplaces out there. I do recommend trying to look for something that suits your morals and doesn't destroy your morale. It may be that it'll take time until you can find the right place, and depending on your circumstances, you may have to deal with some less than ideal workplaces in the meantime, but do know that they exist. As for the environmental impact and other unethical practices caused/practiced by corporations that you're not directly involved in: protest! Sign petitions! And do little things to help, such as avoiding products that have a heavier environmental impact when you can. Individuals working together can absolutely make change happen. I also recommend planting a wildlife garden to help local animals.

Gumi was tuned so lovely that even with her high pitched slightly robotic voice only helped to emphasis the theme of the cogs, machines, and monotony of working so well. But seriously!!

This is so cool! I love this with a passion, it's so good! It has a very genuine message behind it as well, which I think makes even it better. Also I hope the little eye dude at the end is ok he looked pretty depressed...

This is such a good freaking song, the imagery and metaphor for the faults of capitalism and consumerism is so on point- GREAT JOB!!!
