Speaking as a cosplay/convention neophyte, this might be a silly question but why go through all that with metallic tape? Is there a reason you don't just use copper pipe?
@LostWax4 ай бұрын
I think I did it that way just as a cost saving. You could definitely use copper pipe, though bending it can sometimes be a bit tricky.

It's important to remember...don't get Steampunk mixed up with Cyberpunk. Cyberpunk is based on the 'internet', and as such would be 'the future of 1980'. Steampunk is considered 'the future of 1890'. ;)

Hey Wax! I got your pattern and making preparations to make this awesome gun. Unfortunately, none of my second hand stores have an electric knife and all the utility blades I can find have the short blades that look way too short to mold the stock. I looked through your list of tools and didn't find any mention of a utility knife. What do you use?
@LostWax24 жыл бұрын
Hi there, I use the style of utility knife that has a blade you can extend out from the knife. I have a bunch of different kinds, but even the really cheap ones will work alright, just make sure it can lock in place. Something like these: amzn.to/32uAr1m (affiliate link) The thing that is more important than the knife handle, is the blades you use. The ones that come with a cheap knife can be alright, but they can also be not super great, I like to buy Olfa Ultra sharp blades: amzn.to/3hoscby (affiliate link) They cut foam really well, better than any cheap blades I have tried. Hope that helps a bit!
@Aprilisms4 жыл бұрын
@@LostWax2 Thanks for the reply! Maybe Im just looking in the wrong areas because the only extendable blades I've found are meant to snap off at intervals.
@LostWax4 жыл бұрын
@@Aprilisms Yep, the ones that snap off at intervals are the right ones, you just don't snap them off. Also, if you are going to be doing a lot of foam work, a good sharpening stone can save you lots of money in blades.
@Aprilisms4 жыл бұрын
@@LostWax Oh okay! Thank you so much for your help! Also, thanks for the sharpening stone tip. I'm fairly new with foam but not new to the crafting world so thankfully I already have one! Have an awesome day!
