Doesn't steam look really impressive in the rain. One of my favourite games on this line is 'beat the train'. I aim to arrive at the next station by car before the train does (only safely possible out of holiday season and between Pickering, Levisham, Goatland and Grosmont). I have enormous fun spotting the steam and engines from the Whitby/Pickering road (to my mind one of the best drives in the country). I lived this video Andrew. Thanks so much 😃👍

@@andrewjditton That’s bad news, following the UK/EU boarder news there is nothing refreshing to hear, the opposite UK treats EU people living in the UK with permanent residency like people from 3rd world countries trying to get in, I truly hope this will calm down and I hope that Scotland will pledge for their independence and will remain part of the EU Warmest Regards Andrew

Brilliant, Andrew! And all the more brilliant because you're almost on my patch! LOVE the NYMR, Pickering and the other stops on the route to Whitby - but the harbour and the 199 Steps and the Abbey....! Was there 3 weeks ago. I wonder whether, whilst at Pickering, you went to the Castle or, not so far away, you went to Helmsley. I have stayed at that Camping Club CS next to the Pickering Station Car Park, a few years ago. Very convenient and pleasant. Tomorrow the first part of the "Ullapool Family" is coming to visit us here on the edge of the NY Moors. But for the first time in AGES we have a decent set of weather forecasts.... Good video again though!

So Andrew, we live in Stratford ON, Canada. Stratford was one of the Repair Depots for the GTR in the steam days (Grand Truck Railroad, an amalgamation of railroad companies that morphed into Canadian National Railways) when Steam was King and Rail was the mode! There were so many emotions that were elicited within me while we watched. Days gone by, travel an experience vs an interruption. Have an infinity with you on this Rail environment as I really wanted to become an engineer in the 70's but because I do not have 20/20 I was sidelined. THANKS from the bottom of my Heart/Being/Life for this video.......and my Sweetheart (who is from Yorkshire) has seen some of this first hand.....THX

Such a shame you weren’t doing the train journey the day before ( Wednesday ) , the weather in Whitby and all along the coast was gorgeous. I’d travelled from York as I have a caravan there and it was good to see the trains going again. It was interesting seeing your room, I walked past lowther house last year while visiting Pickering, it looks a really nice place and it looks just as nice on the inside too. This video you’ve produced is a great watch, nice to see all the other smaller stations too.
